Orchard Cottage

I think the property has lost its sparkle and requires a face lift.

The bed in particular needs replacing, it was very creaky and the mattress sunk in the middle, not good for my back. The windows needed cleaning as they were splashed with bird poo from the spring nests of house martins. I love birds but not dirty windows. Some cutlery and glasses were stained from washing and not dried properly if at all before being put away. We lined the location on a working farm.

Another lovely stay at Orchard Cottage, despite a week of rainy days We enjoyed the peace and quiet this cottage offers, beautiful scenery and most of all the wildlife, cows, pheasants and hares Third time we have stayed here, no complaints and hope to be back next year, we love it.

We had a fabulous stay at Orchard Cottage.

Everything was as advertised, in a beautiful location with really friendly and welcoming hosts! It was exactly what our family needed and looking forward to booking again!

Lovely little cottage in a peaceful setting, and very well appointed.

The only negative was the lack of black out curtains in the master bedroom, leading to my waking at 5am every morning.

What a wonderful cottage, in such a peaceful location.

Everything was perfect for break from the day to day rush. The location was great too, close to Cheadle and leak as well as ideal just for walks in the country. We loved it and would love to go back.

Cute little cottage for a couple and child.

I went with a friend and was great for us. Would I go again, fo sure I would.

Great location on a farm .

Clean Comfy bed and shower was amazing . Thanks

Cottage was clean and comfortable.

Pleasant welcome from Phil. We has no issues, but he was only a phone call away. Good central location for various areas. Lovely to see the cows in the field opposite. Good walk round the local footpaths which our dog enjoyed. Happy to have a return visit.

Home from home.

Mattress a little too soft for us but that is a personal preference! Beautiful scenery and walks. Peace and quiet just what the doctor ordered. Lovely welcome from the owners and Charlie the dog! Thank you

Very nice property homely and in a picturesque peaceful environment.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there.

Great spot for a relaxing break for the two of us.

Lovely to see the cows in the field through the bedroom picture window first thing in the morning. So pleased we found it. Thank you to our host. He made it easy to stay there.

Absolutely lovely little cottage on a farm, pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but it was just what we wanted, as it was a weekend getaway from the city.

We’ve spend a good chunk of our time hiking in the Peak District and relaxing at the cottage in the evenings. Lovely communications with the hosts as well, which sadly we didn’t get to meet as we’ve been out and about so much and arrived very late on the first evening. Would definitely stay again :)

A lovely cottage, very peaceful.

Easy reach of nice pubs in Cheadle. Owner very accommodating. Perfect for dog.

We had an amazing stay for 3 nights.

The cottage is absolutely lovely in beautiful surroundings. Only a few minutes drive to Cheadle and Alton too ,so can get everything you need. 100% recommended

Another wonderful stay at this beautiful location The Cottage is clean and comfortable and provides all you need for your stay.

Location is perfect, no traffic or noise and safe for a dog too. Beautiful scenery, we enjoyed watching the cows and the pheasants. There are supermarkets a couple of miles away and a lovely farmshop in nearby Denstone. We also enjoyed walking our little pooch around JCB lakeside and feeding the birds which is a short drive away. Highly recommend this cottage or Horse Shoe Cottage next door. We are already planning our next stay. Thank you Phil, see you again soon.

Beautiful place.

Wonderful setting. The cows and Charles were just fantastic. Thanks Phil and Mrs Eyre for a wonderful stay. This is definitely our go to place in stoke.

It is a very nice and quiet cottage, we felt like home.

Comfy living room, good size kitchen, they even have a washing machine, great water pressure from the shower, spacious parking is just right outside the house. A few things they could improved. The doors of fridge and freezer couldnt close properly. The beds were not comfy enough, they were eeee eeee eeee all nights. The upper bunk bed could move into the main bedroom and change it to a bigger bed. Two beds in the main bedroom. We would be happy to sleep in the same room. The upper bunk bed is too small for anyone and a bit high for young children.

Had another lovely short stay, love the isolation of being on a farm and still in close proximity to towns and villages with necessary amenities, and discovering dog walks.

Hope to rebook again this year.

A beautiful, well equipped cottage in a peaceful rural setting.

Lovely views over farmland, and lots of wild birds to see. The inside of the cottage is really cosy, very warm ( we stayed in January), and comfortable. This is the second time we have stayed in a cottage on the farm and highly recommend, especially if you love escaping from city life Carolyn and Andy

We had a lovely weekend at Orchard Cottage.

It is pet friendly, clean, the views from the living room and main bedroom are wonderful. It's on a farm in a very peaceful and relaxing rural location. We stayed during a storm and the barn was still warm and cosy. There are a lot of places to see but we were limited due to the weather. We still enjoyed our weekend here and would love to visit for spring or summer. We had a warm welcome from the owner who was very helpful. If you're looking for modern facilities or luxury then this accommodation isn't for you but if you have a pet and love exploring outdoors to return to a lovely place to sit and look at the view from your sofa with tranquil surroundings and cows then it's perfect!

Booked a few nights away, as hoped, we had a hassel free relaxing break.

We had an absolutely amazing stay was off grid so no wi-fi/Internet.

Booked again for next year was really quiet peaceful took time to recharge lots of walks nearby would definitely recommend a staycation here.

Cottage was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities required to make our stay easy.

Host was very welcoming and happy to help with queries.

Can't fault excellent, everything you Need for an enjoyable weekend was at your fingertips.

Stunning cottage with great views , peace and quiet in abundance. Don't change a thing

Nice stay over all.

Clean and well equipped place. On a busy farm, other rental cottages next door so can get noisy. When we ready to check out our small dog was having a sniff around when the owner came speeding down in a big Audi. Could have been deadly. Just be aware that cars can speed down the track.

Really enjoyed our stay.

Phil was very helpful. The views were lovely, some amazing walks near by and a lovely tearoom/ restaurant called the ramblers retreat. The cottage its self was lovely and it was very nice to not have internet or phone signal, plenty of dvd’s and board games to be you entertained.

Brilliant property in an idyllic setting.

Phil was great with his meet and greet. Peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Great to have no Internet and mobile phone signals, just what we needed to unwind. Walks in the area are fantastic and local pubs were a pleasure.

Fantastic chilled out place for a long weekend.

We will return

Didn’t see anywhere on the listing stating it was on a farm so wouldn’t have chosen it if we had known, also the other cottages next to it (not seen in pictures) had very loud people so could hear everything when spoken outside.

Not great at 7am! Not the relaxing weekend we wanted without kids as couldn’t get a lay in as possibly a bird scarer was going off very early 6:30 ish Saturday morning and at regular intervals so couldn’t go back to sleep. Cottage itself was lovely, great water pressure and quaint but not what we’d have chosen had we realised it wasn’t as secluded as it looked and was on a farm. Good communication with owner when needed (when not at the cottage as previous reviews said, no internet access so no way to message owner if a problem had occurred)

Beautiful Cottage in a beautiful location.

Couldn't go due to having convo.

that landlord refused to change dates.and Sykes refusing to give me my money back.will now go court.also no internet or mobile signal.no use to disabled

My friend and I had a lovely stay here.

Such a beautiful spot. Well equipped with everything you need. I know some reviews have said about the lack of signal but we found it refreshing to escape everything! At the gate to the cow field there’s plenty of signal and also down the farm track. It was definitely worth the little stroll to make a call. Would definitely book again.

Our stay was great.

It’s a very cosy little place to stay. I travelled with my 11 year old, 6 year old and baby daughter. The cottage was a perfect size for 3 needing a bed, and a travel cot. There was next to no signal! And no Wi-Fi. This was only an issue for me trying to plan days out and wanting to know local attractions and setting my phone up as a satnav. But other than that it was nice to not have the distraction of my phone and messages from work. The bedrooms were very warm and the shower was really powerful and relaxing (just what I needed for choosing to take my 3 kiddies away without my husband so he could complete renovations on our house). We visited Alton Towers, Sudbury Hall and childhood museum, Hanley park, the pottery museum, and Quarry bank mill on our way home back to Lancaster. I’d highly recommend. It was great value for self catering and we stayed for 4 days.

Beautiful little cottage in a quiet location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage is in a great area to visit so many different locations and there are some super walks right on the doorstep. We particularly enjoyed Trentham gardens, which was lovely and the sculptures and shops outside made for a great day. There is no internet at the cottage and very little phone signal, which was a little problematic when trying to set up our sat nav, but we worked round it!! Did make for a very peaceful time though

Beautiful cottage with amazing views, TV choice was really good and very well equipped kitchen.

Unfortunately no phone signal or wifi signal and the bed was uncomfortable. But would recommend if you don't need phone it wifi.

Had the most wonderful time, beautiful location and great hosts.

Did not want to leave!

Not sure if putting in WiFi is a consideration, could not get a good phone signal till the end of snakey lane.

We had a great time there though and made the kids do outdoors stuff!!

No Wi-Fi

We are just home from a lovely weekend in this cottage.

It made a perfect base for walking in the Peak District. It was lovely and quiet and the cottage well equipped! Lack of signal didn’t stop us as we just planned before we went. Would recommend this cottage.

Ideal place for touring around plenty of places to visit and great walks

It was a beautiful little cottage, lovely countryside surrounding it, had a nice chilled long weekend, would go again in the warmer weather as unfortunately it was raining when we stayed so would be nice to see it in the sunshine

Brilliant accommodation with absolutely everything we could think of provided and a really lovely, helpful owner.

It’s quiet, peaceful and off grid which was good for us though every now and then we’d get signal. The only fault if I had to find one, is the kids room is tiny but the rest of the place is brilliant. There’s a great pub a few minutes drive and the town has more than enough places to eat and drink and food shop. Lots of local attractions and a wealth of guides and information at the cottage. Wish our trip had been longer. The visitors book shows a string of satisfied customers

The owner was helpful with regards to our arrival.

The cottage is lovely and cosy, the views into the fields with the cows mooching about are a super thing to see in the morning.

Brilliant little cottage, sat nav didn’t take us there directly but was well worth the effort in finding.

Beautiful location, spotlessly clean and warm. Would love to come stay again.

We had a very peaceful stay, the lack of signal was wonderful after the over connection that social media has provided throughout lockdown.

We would come again as this was is an ideal location to explore the local attractions.

Beautiful tranquil surroundings.

Lovely bijou converted barn.

Lovely compact cottage in a perfect location.

Ideal for 2 adults and a small child as the second bedroom is tiny. Was fairly clean but had to give it a once over. The owner was always on hand and very accommodating.

Cottage was gorgeous, everything and more that was needed for stay.

Ideal location for a multitude of day visits. So peaceful.

Having no WiFi and phone connection was a definite bonus except for planning activities.

Most things require prebooking during Covid restrictions and we had a couple of wasted trips because we couldn't plan ahead. The listing states bed linen provided but unfortunately only on one bed. As there was no phone signal and as the owners did not introduce themselves to see if we were comfortable we had to go out and find a supermarket that was open at 10 o'clock at night which sold bedding. This is the first time I've experienced having to provide own bed linen. The location is perfect for anybody wanting to escape and ideal for the dog. I would quite happily book again.

Beautiful countryside with lots of wildlife.

The cottage is short of nothing, like home from home with benefits.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting.

Just what we needed this year for a weeks break with our dog. Nice open space for the dog to run around and play. Certainly met all our expectations and also located well to access all the attractions in the peaks. Will certainly recommend to others. Many thanks. Darren and Vanessa. Oct 2020.

A lovely cottage.

The situation on a working farm in beautiful countryside is lovely. Friendly hosts. A great base for walking in the beautiful local countryside - lots of walking books provided by the hosts. No internet and no mobile signal downstairs but I did get a signal in the bedroom.

Lovely place, ideal for long hikes and cosy evenings.

Thank you for having us!

Great little cottage in a lovely quiet location.

It was clean, well equipped and best of all dog friendly.

The cottage was absolutely fantastic and the icing on the cake no phone signal.

The cottage was good in a very lovely, quiet setting.

There were plenty of walks etc surrounding us and we had a very enjoyable, peaceful week. Just what was needed.

The cottage is well fitted out.

The heating was on when I arrived on a cold day.Would highly recommend

allowing for the cost of the holiday, I feel the cottage was pretty good value for money.

it was clean and ready for us when we arrived, with an excellent view from the front of the property.

Owners welcomed us and we had some lovely welcome flowers and milk to tied us over.

Beautiful, clean and welcoming cottage, lovely views, peaceful and not far from places to visit.

It is imperative that prospective clients are made aware BEFORE booking that there is NO mobile phone signal or internet.

I am self employed and my clients need to be able to speak to me at all times. As a consequence we only stayed in the cottage Sunday evening to Tuesday. One of my properties in France had been broken into over the weekend and the Gendarmes were unable to contact me.

Absolutely lovely cottage, very nice welcome when we arrived, fresh flowers on the table and a pint of milk in the fridge, would recommend a peaceful week to everyone

Lovely cottage.

Most enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Lovely little cottage with everything we needed.

Beautiful views.

From first contact the Skye’s team were super helpful and knowledgable.

The property was of a very high standard and the owners were lovely. Thoroughly recommend both Skye’s generally and Orchard Cottage (the single room really does only have room for 1 small person though)

Wonderful accommodation and friendly welcome.

Left to our own devices which was exactly what we wanted and very comfortable place. Very peaceful and a spectacular view with a morning visit from the cows just outside the door. No phone coverage or 3/4g so be prepared!

Orchard cottage is a beautiful cottage.

The open plan kitchen/dining area/sitting room area is lovely. Beds very comfy - a king size bed and a single cabin bed - ideal for older children/young teens. Modern bathroom with a wonderful power shower. Lovely views from the cottage over the Staffordshire moors. Alton towers is just a seven minute drive away (we timed it!) so the cottage is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day. I would also reccomend dovedale nearby there is lovely scenery of the peak district and stepping stones across the river. I feel we didn't get to explore the area as much as I'd have liked - partly due to unfortunate weather conditions - I will be returning to Orchard cottage!!

It is a beautiful cottage, in lovely surroundings.

Very well maintained, and decorated and furnished to a high standard. The owner greeted me and my dogs, with his Collie dog too, very friendly. Having no internet or mobile phone signal was different, and slightly frustrating, as we had a couple of occasions when someone needed to contact us, one a serious matter, but couldn't. I only got the news late, when out walking the dogs, and picked up a signal, it then made one resourceful to find one. It hasn't put me off and we would stay again. It was a very relaxing week

Our third visit we like the cottage and it enables us the freedom of being indepedent as well as visiting relatives.

It also enables us to take our dog.
