Lovely roomy and characterful cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was very comfortable and cosy and the owners very helpful.

The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of touches that made it feel homely. As described and as befits an older property there were a number of steps and low doorways, but these were well lit and easy to manage. The village of Tideswell was a good base to explore the Peaks and we had a lovely stay.

We had an amazing stay at the cottage.

It had everything that we needed and there were lots of places to walk to in the town for a meal out or pubs. The cottage itself was clean and spacious. We would definitely recommend and we will hopefully return again in the future.

The property was cozy, clean, and well-maintained, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable holiday. The fire pit was a wonderful addition, making evenings extra special. The kitchen was fully equipped with excellent utensils, which made cooking easy and enjoyable. The owner was very supportive and extremely informative about the activities around the area, which helped us make the most of our stay. We also appreciated the thoughtful touch of complimentary champagne and biscuits—they made us feel so welcome! The location in Tideswell was perfect for exploring the beautiful Peak District, and the peaceful surroundings added to the charm. Thank you for making our holiday so memorable—we would definitely recommend this cottage to others!

Kempeshill cottage is beautiful so quaint and cosy.

We arrived to a bag of rubbish on the diningroom table and the master bedroom definately hadn't been hoovered. The carpet was covered in bits we did it. There were no logs for the first fire as described. I rang the contact number and the owner told me where to get some logs from and apologised for the cleanliness. It was such a shame but we didn't let it spoil our break. Also the parking was so tight only room for 1 car and I had instructions not to park down the street else the neighbours would moan.

Cottage is beautiful, in a lively village with 3 pubs.

The decor is lovely, and the kitchen has everything you would want. The bedrooms have a French feel to them, it’s a shame the second bathroom is downstairs through the dining room and kitchen. Close to lots of walks and we found that the star inn did a brilliant Sunday lunch.

Delightful cottage combining traditional character with modern facilities and comfort.

Well equipped kitchen and good range of books and toys. Spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. The tiled shower ‘cavern’ was a great hit with the grandchildren! Good facilities in the village (Co-op and great Italian restaurant) and so much to explore within a short distance of the cottage.

Such a beautiful cottage in a perfect location.

Had everything we needed and more. All 5 of us slept very well in the very comfortable beds. Lovely village with plenty of pubs. Had an amazing Sunday lunch at The George. Beautiful walk along Tideswell Dale which was easily accessible with parking at the entrance. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully stay again.

One of our best stays ever: in a quiet location but only a short walk from restaurants, pubs and shops, beautifully decorated and very comfortable (especially the beds and linen).

As the description says, access to the master bedroom needs care but there are state-of-the-art nightlights provided and an 83-year-old in our party had no problems with the stairs and the other double bedroom (she also found the large shower downstairs very easy to use). The owners provided plenty of useful local information by email beforehand and, when we contacted them over a minor query (no fault on their part), we found them very friendly and helpful and the issue was resolved immediately.

A perfect cottage for our family trip walking in the Peak District.

The cottage was spotlessly clean with all the facilities we could ask for including boot room , downstairs bathroom and the most comfortable beds. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. We could do amazing walks around the Peaks from our doorstep. Tideswell was the ideal centre for our holiday with lovely pubs , a shop , cafe and bakery. We would love to return .

Lovely stay, cottage very welcoming and comfortable

Cottage was lovely in a great little village.

Very clean and with all the facilities you needed. Beds were exceptionally comfortable and our granddaughter loved the “cave” shower which was in the downstairs bathroom. Would highly recommend.

Kempshill Cottage is a splendid place for a trip to the Peaks, very cosy & the patio area to the rear is a nice spot to enjoy the sun.

Tideswell is a lovely village with useful facilities. Nice walks over the moors can be taken from the cottage. Plenty to do near by. Clear concise instructions from the owner on how to travel to the cottage. Would recommend

Brilliant stay in atmospheric cottage in a village of great character.

Our stay was great.

The cottage was really comfortable, of high quality, clean and well-equipped. We were all impressed by both the cottage and its quiet location. Nice local (and very welcoming) pubs for good food and drink within close walking distance. Great walking from the door. A lovely, well equipped cottage in a great location.

We enjoyed being able to walk into the village easily and liked the pubs, cafes and shops. We could buy everything we needed in Tideswell so that we didn’t need to visit big supermarkets at all. There are also great walks nearby. We will definitely return.

The cottage is quite small but perfectly formed.

It is very comfortable and very well appointed with everything that you could need included .We enjoyed our stay and the only disappointment was that from the terrace the view is only of roof tops whereas from the photographs (26 and 27) on the website we thought that we at least would look onto fields. A small disappointment to an otherwise excellent cottage.

We had a fantastic stay at Kempshill Cottage.

The property was very clean, and beautifully and tastefully fitted out. Everything had been thought of and it was very well equipped. Beds very comfortable. We liked being at the 'top end' of town because of the views, also saw a lot of swifts flying around and we were able to walk into the countryside easily from the cottage. Easy drive to Castleton, Eyam, Hathersage, Buxton and Bakewell. Ate at the Star Inn - good food and friendly staff. Elliot's Fish & Chips very good too. Can't wait to go back!

It achieved that difficult mix of comfort, style and function with honours. A joyful cottage in a wonderful village. We’ll be back for more!.

A really nice, well appointed and furnished property.

Easy to park outside (as long as there’s a space) in a quiet lane near the heart of a nice village. The property is spacious for its small size but watch out if you’re infirm or very tall as there are a few low beams. Would definitely stay there again.

What an absolutely beautiful cottage, in an ideal and wonderful location!

I would highly recommend Kempshill Cottage to friends, family and other Sykes customers. Kempshill is very spacious and yet so cosy! It’s been beautifully decorated and is so very well equipped, there wasn’t a single thing the owners hadn’t thought of or provided… Tideswell is a fabulous village too, with so much to offer on the doorstep. The Star pub is welcoming and friendly both for drinks and Sunday Lunch. Elliot’s fish n chip shop gets a huge thumbs up too! So all in all we’ve had another awesome visit to the Peak District with huge thanks to Kempshill Cottage, Tideswell and Sykes… thank you all and here’s to the next time!

A lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need for a break away.

Kitchen is extremely well appointed and the added extra of a boot room is brilliant when you are walking, first time boots have gone home clean. Fires really make this a cosy cottage. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage was very well presented, extremely clean and in a great location both for accessing Tideswell and the Peak District generally. We would happily stay again and thoroughly recommend.

Loved the cottage, so cosy & welcoming.

Lots of space & very well equipped. Extremely clean on arrival. The location within the village is great, as long as you don't mind a bit of a climb when returning from the amenities! Parking not so good ... especially if you have more than one car. Clearer information up-front would have been handy as the space is very limited.

Our second time in this fabulous small town and wonderful cottage.

This time there were just the three of us rather than the full troop of grandkids. Very comfortable beds, very well equipped, great location. Just watch your heads sometimes on the small bedroom door and the stairs! Recommended.

Kempshill is a beautiful holiday cottage full of character and in the perfect location.

The house is super clean, beautifully decorated and has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. As a family with three children we loved the village of Tideswell as it has shops, two playgrounds, three pubs and stunning views. The location also meant we were close to all the places we wanted to visit and some amazing walks/hikes. Would definitely recommend Kempshill for a family stay.

Lovely cottage, very good finish, comfortable and very well stocked with kitchen equipment.

We stayed for the Christmas week and had all that we needed for meals etc. Warm, particularly with the log fires. Plenty of room for all and good beds to relax at the end of the day. We didn't need the outdoor areas - just step out of the doors to walk. We also had a challenging run or two as well. Village has shops some specialised and others general. Pubs good too. All in all a very good holiday

It really had everything you could possibly need. Really comfortable beds, lots of cooking utensils, lovely hot showers and is in the perfect location to see the Peak District with fabulous walks right on your doorstep.

Wonderful stay in Kempshill cottage .

The cottage is located in Tideswell a lovely quiet centrally located village to visit anywhere in the Peak District. The cottage was clean with loads of hot water and a very well equipped kitchen . It easily accommodated my family of 3 adult children and ourselves. The beds were extremely comfortable and the Smart TV was appreciated rather than the standard freeview. We spent many evenings in the Star Pub , excellent food and very friendly. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Very clean, although could do with some new towels. Shame there isn’t more outside space, although this is stated in the description. Nice village with good amenities. Lots to do locally. Would definitely recommend & would stay again.

It’s situated in a lovely village with great choice of pubs, with easy access to some great walks and places of interest. A great base for a visit to the Peak District.

Pro’s: Excellent location, plenty of space and very comfortable accommodation.

Cons: Low beams not great for taller people. Lack of internet ready TV, very small tv screen.

Lovely cottage just out of the village, perfect.

We all enjoyed our stay, felt safe as cottage very clean. Village lovely and locals very welcoming. Only one thing the TV was a little small for viewing Britain’s got talent .. but that’s very minor! Hopefully we will be visiting again soon.

This is a beautiful cottage, well maintained and has everything you need.

The property was cleaned to an exceptional standard and whilst we are in the midst of Covid19 that cleanliness made us feel very safe. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking at home if the pubs are shut. With two wonderful log burners for cosy winter evenings and a full central heating system there is no chance of being cold in this property! In a lovely location and so quiet, very little passing traffic. Perfect base for walking the beautiful peak district. We had a perfect week relaxing, and recharging our batteries and walking and enjoying the local pubs and cafes. Would definately recommend and just deciding when to go back.

A lovely house that, despite its age, weathered the torrential rains of a violent storm with flying colours.

Some occupants will have to remember to stoop at the sides of the master bedroom and on the step down to the dining room.

Just some suggestions - could do with a bath mat in the downstairs, maybe a vacuum cleaner and some of the window locks were quite fiddly

Beds comfortable and whole house beautifully clean. Good position in the village - easy to walk to shops and pubs but nice quiet spot. Very narrow roads!

The cottage was lovely, everything we could think of was provided and there were comprehensive instructions for the heating and how to use the wood burners.

The location is excellent for exploring the Peak District, and parking wasn't a problem. We would definitely stay here again!

The owner kindly arranged a Christmas tree to welcome us, and some mince pies and bubbly.

There was everything we needed to settle in, and shops close by for extra provisions. The location is lovely for walks, and the log fire perfect for those long dark winter evenings. Cottage very well equipped in every way and a lovely location for a family Christmas away from home.

We absolutely loved Kempshill Cottage.

It is very comfortable and cosy and far better equipped than many rentals. The location and the area are lovely too. We would happily return to this cottage.

Beautiful house which was resourced with everything you an think of .

Set in a beautiful place too. Would definately use again. Although there was an outside space at the back of the cottage with a small decking area we did find that we missed a garden at some points in the week - maybe because the weather was superb so it would probably not even have been noticed later on in the year. A great holiday spent .

Had some contact with the owner who was very friendly. The entry to the master bedroom at the top of the staircase is not easy for people who are unsteady on their feet, so we slept in the second bedroom which was great. Very nice location with great views across Tideswell church.

Lovely cottage in a nice little village.

Ideal location for visiting Buxton and all areas of the Peak District. The kitchen was well equipped apart from a couple of things - there was no potato masher and only 2 medium pans and a very small one. Not really enough for a family. Just thought that was worth a mention, but in no way affected the enjoyment of our holiday. Would be happy to recommend the cottage to anyone. Very narrow access roads and parking is rather tight, but Tideswell is a fabulous small town, good pubs, restaurant and fabulous fish and chips at Elliotts.

Take care about bashing your head though on low beams and doorways...

Clean, cosy and full of all the things we would need. Good communication from the owner. Great location for other parts of the area such as Bakewell and Buxton.

Lovely character cottage in the heart of the Peak District.

Wonderful cottage, very comfortable and so user friendly (no spending ages working out how to use cooker/heating etc).

You can tell it's a much loved home as well as a rental cottage. Great walking from the door. We were lucky & even though it was November we had great weather but if not there's still plenty to do in Derbyshire. There's no negatives to Kempsill Cottage, we were a party of 5 lady friends & all felt the same way...... Sad to leave!

The Cottage was fantastic, it was exactely what we had looked for.

Very well appointed, and some really nice 'attention to detail' touches. Within easy reach of local stores, bus routes and walks. We will book again.
