  • "The cottage was warm, cosy and attractive and while small contained everything I needed for comfort."

Julie and Jason were wonderful friendly hosts who sorted me out with a flat tyre and helped me search for my mislaid glasses when it was time to vacate the property, but I couldn't go without them. What more could you want?

  • "We had a lovely 5 night stay in the Old Sty."

I can’t normally sleep the first night of being away from home, but had no problems at all, the bed was very comfy and the accommodation and facilities were spotless. We new when we booked the Old Sty, there wasn’t much around within walking distance, and that is why we chose this accommodation. There are plenty of nice walks, the nearest pub is 45mins walk away. We had a lovely trip to Dovedale, Alton Towers is only 10 mins drive away. Julie and Jason are very friendly and are only a text away if you need them. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. If you want to get away from it all, this is definitely a place for you. The fresh eggs were lovely too and the welcome pack of biscuits and a bottle of wine was a lovely gesture.

  • "The "Old Sty" was ok and the people were friendly enough, although they were away on holiday the following day for a week."

The problem we had was the extremely uncomfortable beds. So very hard that we may as well have slept on the floor. So bad that after 4 nights I really wanted to come home. I did explain this to the Father in Law who I saw in the yard and he said that he knew they were new beds and could only sympathise. We were taking pain killers before going to bed and again in the morning when we struggled with lack of sleep and pain. The only reason we stayed was the cost of the weeks break. We struggled on until the Thursday and I just couldn't take another night in that bed. So we left a day early and have never been so glad to be back in my own bed. Over many many years we have slept in no end of beds but never ever been so uncomfortable as in those beds.

  • "The property listing showed "fridge, freezer" when "fridge with ice box" would have been more accurate but luckily I asked the owners about the size of the freezer beforehand otherwise I would have been extremely disappointed."

This needs rectifying as it's one of our requirements when booking a property especially in these covid times when we don't eat out so much. Great property with very welcoming owners.

Thank you very much for the feedback and apologies regarding the error, we will have this amended on the advert immediately. Thank you for letting us know and we're glad you liked the property. Property Owner

Also none of the windows open, but you could prop the door open. Otherwise, the cottage was compact, had everything you needed and was finished to a high standard. The location is good, peaceful and quiet with easy parking. The welcome pack was a great touch.

The house contained all necessities for a self catering stay and the welcome pack was indeed very welcome. Access and parking was easy, shops could be found within 8 miles and a couple of pubs and cafes were also available. The hosts were friendly and helpful with information and I was impressed with the organisation of the Sykes person who helped me.
