"The hosts were lovely, and the location excellent."
The cottage was smaller than expected, with creaking floorboards, so visiting the loo in the night involved some gymnastics so was not to wake the daughter and granddaughter. And we were disappointed that there was no garden.

"The cottage on the whole was fine, comfortable and warm."
I was a bit disappointed, having booked for 2 people to come to a 4 bed cottage, to find only the double bed made up. The assumption that 2 adults would necessarily be willing to share a double bed seems unwarranted. The customer pays for the use of the whole cottage, after all.

"Great cottage for a wee break with Mum who we had not seen for 10 months."
We all loved it, including the dog. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped and easy access to the Peak District.

"We recently stayed at the cottage at the end of September for a week."
It was the perfect retreat for me, my husband and our small dog.
The cottage was very well equipped and has everything you need for a self catering stay. The owners left wine, milk, crisps & biscuits for our arrival which I thought was a really nice touch and very appreciated. There was a limited amount of wood for the wood burner but after a text to the owners, a box of wood was delivered straight away. The owners live on the property and are always just a phone call away if you need anything. The cottage was very clean and there is also cleaning products & equipment as well as a washing machine which was handy as we were there for a week.
The cottage is situated perfectly if you are wishing to visit tourist attractions of the Peak District. Everything is within a short distance from the cottage. There are supermarkets 10-15 minutes away. Good local pubs include The Tickled Trout in Barlow and the Royal Oak at Millthorpe. The area is perfect for walks. The cottage has amazing views over the countryside.
The cottage sits on the road and at times the traffic came past at high speeds. Not a negative comment towards the cottage as this is obviously out of the owners hands but just something to keep in mind if you are taking small children or pets. There is parking on the grass next to the cottage for one vehicle which was perfect for us and made loading / unloading a lot easier!
The cottage sleeps four but there was only two of us plus our dog so I can’t comment on how suitable it would be for four people, but for us it was ideal.
The only very small negative I had was the sofas are a tad uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. It wasn’t a huge issue for us for the most part as we were out for most of the days exploring however we had one rainy day where we decided to stay in.
Overall the cottage was fantastic and in a great location. I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the Peaks! We will definitely be back.

"Just returned from a 2 night stay in this beautiful little cottage which is 1 of 3 just outside of Barlow on the edge of the peak district."
We were 2 friends with a little dog. On arrival just 1 room was made up but a quick call the owner who lived on the same site and more bedding appeared within minutes. The owner is a very friendly lady and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was well presented and beautiful. It is on a road but the road is not well used at night so lovely and quiet. We had the pleasure of seeing some lovely horses trot by on Sunday morning! Barlow is about a 30 min walk along the road and has 2 amazing pubs that serve food and both accept dogs. We did a great 15 mile walk on the Saturday and back to the cottage for a lovely (very hot!) shower. There are wall heaters x 3 which heated the cottage up very quickly and the thick walls kept the heat well - there was a wood burner in the lounge but we did not need top use this. All in all a great little cottage in a great location. Highly recommended.

"Furniture was ripped, kettle button was broken door mats were all ripped, everything worked and was useable it was just a shame as they were such small things and made the cottage feel less special."
It was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay which was very short, the pictures definitely make this cottage look bigger than it is but there is good seating with the dining table and the local pubs/restaurants were very good.

"Booked for 2 people, but only double bed made up on arrival."
2 bedded cottage booked as required seperate rooms. Extra bedding provided promptly by owner on arrival.
Kitchen well equipped,
Need plenty of wood for log burner. Owner not sure of nearest location to purchase any extra, although initial supply sufficient for first night.
