I had a great time at March Hare.

It was a pleasure and privilege to stay in such a nice accommodation for my trip to Derbyshire and beyond. Very kind and easy communication with the owners before and during my stay. They want you to have the best possible experience and to relax and enjoy your stay and this is clearly reflected in the quality and maintenance of the accommodation. The location is peaceful and tranquil with beautiful nature in the immediate surrounds. Great connections to the City and beyond. March Hare was cleaned to such a high standard, it was as if everything was brand new. Very powerful and hot shower. Instant heating if required. Also, a very generous welcome pack with high quality ingredients, enjoyable for breakfast, snacks and drinks. I had wonderful and memorable time and wouldn’t hesitate to return again in future. Thanks for everything.

Our 2nd stay at March Hare Cottage.

David met us on arrival even though we had been delayed by severe traffic problems and did not arrive until very late. As usual the warm welcome helped us to relax and shed the stresses of the journey. We really felt like we had arrived home. The cottage immaculate as usual and was our base for visiting family. We were able to welcome them to the cottage to share in the peaceful location. We enjoyed watching all the wildlife in the grounds, especially the hares. David met us again at weeks end to see us off on our journey home. Definitely be booking again.

The owner was very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us.

We received a lovely basket of goodies including strawberries and Prosecco. The surrounding gardens and fields hosted a variety of wildlife for our amusement and the house picturesque. We had a lovely peaceful time and would definitely go back. Barbara

As good as we remembered it. The only thing for us personally was that the bed was too soft otherwise a very lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings.

March Hare is perfectly located along a quiet track close to the owner's home.

The gardens are spacious and beautiful with many shrubs, trees and flowers. There is seating on the lawn to relax. David warmly greeted us and showed us around the property. The welcome pack was sumptuous with prosecco, milk, tea, coffee, milk, butter, strawberries and more! March Hare is comfortable, clean and very well maintained with beautiful finishing touches. The property is well located and we enjoyed visiting many places in the Peak District as well as local walks. We hope to return to this lovely holiday home sometime in the future.

March Hare is an idyllic home from home.

It is our second time of visiting and it is still as superb as it was the first time. David welcomed us and made us feel totally at home. The accommodation is guest class. Attention has been paid to every little detail to ensure our stay was perfect Our Welcome basket was full of necessary items with an added flair in terms of meeting all our needs; tea, coffee, bread, butter, marmalade, bananas. The list goes on. So thoughtful. It is a delightful area and David was a fount of knowledge in terms of places to visit, where to eat in the evenings and places to go for a coffee. Thank you so much for making our time at March Hare so special. We’ll be back.

MARCH hare is in a lovely spot amongst gardens and fields.

it is ideal for a disabled person as you can drop them off directly outside plus access throughout is excellent.The owners is very helpful the welcome package much appreciated.We have been twice and will probably go again.

An immaculate cottage that's been prepared with an eye to detail.

Everything you could need for a week of self-catering is provided (but note the absence of a freezer) and it's all in perfect condition. The welcome basket was both welcome and generous. The ability to do some evening walks right from the door was an added bonus. If I'm in Derby again - I shall be looking here first.

David met us on arrival with the best welcome we have ever experienced in many bookings through Sykes.

He showed us around and presented us with a comprehensive welcome hamper that simply blew us away. The cottage was warm and cosy and very well equipped and we commented that you could easily just live there full time and want for nothing. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful and populated by many squirrels, hares, pheasants and owls. Have already booked again for later in the year.

March Hare has been wonderfully modernised.

It feels very homely. I wish i could have stayed in fact. It is set in beautiful grounds and the owner David happily encouraged me to explore. In short drives you are in the midst of walking countryside of the peaks which is breathtaking especially with the late colours of autumn. Will visit again.

What a lovely week away in late October!

March Hare was perfect for us - a well equipped spacious kitchen/lounge with a sumptuous goodies welcome basket, and a comfy bed in a lovely bedroom making us sleep late. All set in the quiet countryside just off the main A52 with frequent buses at the end of the track (5-10 minutes walk). Our thanks to Andrea and David, our friendly hosts. We will be back!

Had another great holiday at March Hare…this was our sixth stay.

David and Andrea go out of the way to make sure everything was up to the usual high standard. The usual hamper on arrival was welcoming as usual. We have not stayed anywhere where the towels are changed midweek as they are at March Hare. We will be back.

A little gem!

We were in the area to attend a wedding and March Hare was perfect for our needs. Plenty to see and do in the area plus two National Trust properties and lovely countryside. The property is set back from the main road down a little track, so road noise is no problem. The post code did not work on my satnav, so I would try 'what 3 words'. The hosts were lovely and on hand to help, should you need anything. Perfect!

I had a wonderful week at March Hare. The place was spotlessly clean' and very comfortable including the bed. you could not meet anybody nicer than David the owner, he was there to greet you, and always around to talk with me, given the chance and at my age I will go back again.

A spotlessly clean and well-equipped property in a very pretty location.

David the owner is lovely man who looked after us extremely well and was always cheerfully on hand if needed. He was also a font of good advice on where to visit and where to eat. We had a wonderful week and would go again. Highly recommended.

An excellent property, well equipped, clean and lovely homely touches.

David made us feel really welcome and the basket of goodies was a very lovely touch. The property is in a lovely area with plenty to see and do. David even provided a shower chair for my mum who was disabled and checked in with us to make sure everything was fine. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

My wife and I found March Hare when looking for a last minute 2 night stay .

We are glad we came across it . We were looking for somewhere for a couple within a 50 mile radius and most of all peace and quiet in scenic surroundings. It ticked all the boxes. David the owner was very helpful and courteous. The property was very clean and obviously well maintained. If I was to summarize it exceeded all our expectations. We wish we could have stayed for longer. We would definitely stay at the March Hare again in the future. That is if we can find an available slot when our schedule allows. David said bookings are full till the end of the year which shows how well sought after the holiday lets are ..

We had a lovely time in the March Hare red-brick holiday cottage.

The property is beautifully decorated and maintained and every little detail so thoughtfully provided. It's the perfect place to relax and also near some wonderful walking. David is a charming and helpful host living on site, who was discreet yet on hand for anything we needed. The little garden in front of the cottage was perfect for an evening cocktail and the shared grounds had a lovely spacious lawn for morning coffee breaks. A fabulous find! We will be back.

A hidden gem!

March Hare is comfortable, clean and well-equipped, and situated in beautiful surroundings. The gardens are very pretty and we enjoyed sitting in the garden watching and listening to the wildlife. A thoughtfully prepared welcome pack was very much appreciated and the owners were very helpful too. Idyllic! We plan to return and would highly recommend March Hare as a place to stay.

This is a brilliant place!

Furniture and finishes are to the highest standard and David, the host, is a delight, full of local attractions, some of them off the beaten track. The hares and the swallows were an added attraction, as were the grounds and gardens. The place cannot be bettered and we thoroughly recommend it.

Fantastic host & lovely comfortable property.

A little off the main road so a car is needed when you go out but other that that it is close to perfect!

March Hare is a spacious, well appointed, comfortable holiday cottage situated in a quiet location but not far from major roads and access to several NT properties.

Thank you to David and Andrea for the fantastic welcome pack and all the attention to detail making our stay so enjoyable. I’m sure we will be returning.

Nice little cottage in an excellent location.

We absolutely loved the Cottage - it was warm, clean and so very homely and had everything we needed for our week.

We arrived on 29th December and the cottage had been decorated for Christmas which was a wonderful surprise and it looked lovely - we knew at this point we had definitely made the right choice. We were warmly greeted by David when we arrived and he could not have been more friendly and helpful in going through how everything worked and giving us many recommendations for eating and shopping in the local area - nothing was too much trouble and he made us feel so welcome. Whilst the weather outside was cold it was so warm and toasty in the cottage. There was a wonderful welcome basket full of goodies for use to which was so thoughtful. and we hope to visit again. Thank you very much.

A lovely cottage with a warm welcome and the best hamper we have had in a holiday cottage.

Only thing to stop us staying again, was the many bright security lights that lit up the grounds all night, and with no blinds on the skylights and no blackout blinds on the window the bedroom never got dark.

Warm, cosy and inviting We had a wonderful short break at March Hare cottage.

We were welcomed by David who was very friendly, he talked us through everything we needed to know for our stay. The cottage was clean, well furnished with quality towels, bedding and furniture, with some very nice decorative touches. A plentiful supply of hot water, central heating and a wood burner all add to the levels of comfort. A generous welcome basket with a wide range of supplies and milk and butter in the fridge was a lovely gesture. The kitchen is well equipped and even has a slow cooker! There is also a freezer available for your use in an adjacent barn. The cottage also has a TV in the bedroom which is an added luxury. If you need WiFi it was fast and reliable. Plenty of outdoor seating to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the really peaceful garden. The location is well off the road down a long drive so you could hear a pin drop as it's so quiet. David and Andrea’s cottage is a real get away from it all location whilst being on the doorstep of some of Derbyshire’s best places to visit. To sum up, if you are looking for a clean comfortable and well-appointed cottage with "home from home' comforts then you can't go wrong with a stay at March Hare Cottage. On arrival we were welcomed by David the owner with a very good selection of quality foodstuffs, easily enough to see us through dinner and breakfast into the next day if we’d had nothing with us.

There’s a very high standard of décor in the cottage and also plenty of good cooking equipment for self-catering. The bathroom is particularly spacious and plenty of hot water for the large shower. The surroundings are lovely, well off the main road and there’s multiple outdoor seating areas to enjoy the views with a morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening. Easy to spend a day relaxing with a book here. There is plenty to do locally including historic towns, walks, country houses and pubs. Note that this cottage is not particularly private without drawing curtains or closing blinds as it is at ground level, there is another rental property attached, the access drive faces the front door and all the windows have clear glass, including the bathroom. We would book here again, but perhaps try the cottage next door next time around, which is more private. Recommended.

Amazing cottage, five star nothing less.

Welcoming hosts available on site at anytime. Facilities excellent, welcome pack very grateful. Probably the best cottage we have stayed in. Dont worry if you miss the entrance of the main Ashbourne road nearly everyone does as postcode in sat nav takes you to the back road.

After a two week holiday in Yorkshire, where we felt tired and could not relax, we had a long weekend at March Hare in Derbyshire.

What a contrast!!! The owners were friendly and helpful, the surroundings were stunning (I have never seen so many beautiful flowers)and the cottage itself was a haven of peace and tranquility. Thankfully, we managed to sleep well! I would highly recommend March Hare, if you are seeking a quiet space! We wished we had booked a full week here in a more friendly, peaceful atmosphere. The welcome to this beautiful place was amazing! If only all of the holiday cottage owners could take a leaf out of David's book; they would certainly learn how to welcome guests to their holiday homes! Thank you so much for a wonderful, peaceful, unforgettable time! We left March Hare feeling happy, content and well rested! I cannot recommend this holiday cottage highly enough!

Place is lovely, peaceful and in beautiful surrounding. Our stay was everything we hoped it would be and needed. Let's just sum it up by saying that when we left, we simply wanted to do a U-turn at the end of their lovely, long drive! We really enjoyed our stay at March Hare.

The owner was very welcoming and explained everything that we need to know about the property and provided a generous basket of food and drink items. After spending our days exploring the Peak district, we looked forward to relaxing in the lovely garden which was so quiet as the property is some distance from the main road. We even had occasional visits from two very lively hares!

Nice cottage only fault is too easy to miss on main road from Derby need a bit more sign when approaching (we missed it twice) also track road could do with potholes filled as a bit rough.

An absolute fabulous cottage set in the middle of idyllic countryside!

David the owner made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble he even gave us a tour of his rather large gardens can't wait to get back.

This is our second visit to March Hare, it really is such lovely accommodation and a perfect base for exploring the Peak District area.

The owners clearly take pride in their properties and have thought of everything, kitchen and bathroom supplies and a generous welcome basket. It really cannot be beaten and we find it hard to find similar accommodation in other parts of the country that are a patch on this. We will be back again.

We really enjoyed our break here. The owner David was friendly and knowledgeable. They only negative was that there was no freezer. It's down a long bumpy drive, but that has not stopped us from rebooking for a week in July. Looking forward to returning to the property.

So good we’ve booked its twin for a few weeks time.

Quiet accommodation with a 1/3rd mile driveway from the main A52. All you hear are the birds. Very handy for Derby & Ashbourne/Uttoxeter, with both directions bus stops on the A52 at the end of the drive if needed. Everything you need is supplied for the bedroom, kitchen & en-suite, excellent welcome package, Broadband, 2 tvs, dishwasher, cooker & hob, Tassimo coffee pod machine, kettle, tea & coffee pots, wood burner with extra wood if you need it. If staying a week towels are changed half way through by the friendly owners who live on-site.

The cottage was warm and cosy and the owner, David, was very welcoming.

Great welcome pack and nicely decorated for Christmas. Although just off the A52, it was very quite and the peace and the comfortable bed meant we slept well. We will hopefully return as our son lives 10 minutes away so this is a very convenient and comfortable base if there isn't room at his house.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that March Hare was more spacious than we expected from the photos.

The surroundings were pleasant with lots of lovely garden flowers. A great hamper awaited us and David even brought us fresh towels half way through the we which we have not experienced before. The driveway was a bit challenging but we managed it. David and Andrea were excellent hosta and we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely garden and quiet place to relax yet close to all modern facilities and shops so we wanted for nothing.

The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. A lovely hamper was provided to start the holiday off well. Accommodation was perfect in every way, comfortable and warm. Most surprised that towels were renewed half way through the week, very nice gesture. Highly recommend and we will return.

The March Hare is delightful, set in wonderful grounds with a choice of shady spots to enjoy a picnic or drinks or simply sit and enjoy the surroundings.

A long driveway off the A52 ensures that the surroundings are perfectly peaceful with absolutely no road noise etc. The owners are very helpful and friendly, our 5 year old granddaughter visited and did not want to leave. The interior is super clean and bright and very thoughtfully designed and presented. Its location half way between Derby and Ashbourne was ideal. With family in Derbyshire we have stayed in countless places, Hotels and Cottages etc. throughout the Peak District and Derbyshire. My wife and I agree that this is the best of all, so much so that we will definitely be looking to stay again in the future.

David greeted us and said if we needed anything just let him know. And he meant it. He even came mid week with fresh towels. Not had that before. The welcome hamper was amazing. We did not want to go home. 10/10 for everything. Could not fault it.

We had such an amazing stay!

The cottage was beautiful and we felt really looked after by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble, a beautiful welcome hamper with all the essentials, immaculately clean and everything we’d hoped for and more. Just 20 mins drive into Ashbourne. We wished we’d booked for longer as only stayed for two nights. We will definitely be back!

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at March cottage.

The cottage was the best cottage we have ever stayed in having had cottage breaks for 25 years. The cottage was very tastefully decorated with lovely attention to detail. As there are only 2 one bedroom cottages it was very peaceful in lovely surroundings and a beautiful garden with the owners house directly behind. David was very welcoming and showed us around the cottage and was on hand for recommendations of places to visit and go walking. We had a lovely welcome basket waiting for us with lost of lovely goodies including Prosecco! Halfway through the week we also had a basket of lovely clean towels and tea towels delivered which we have never known before. A wonderful week away and we will definitely be going back. Thank you so much David and Andrea for an amazing week away in the most beautiful cottage.

The property March Hare is just a perfect stay, it is set in a tranquil country setting and has everything you could ever need from a lovely welcome basket and fresh flowers cut from their own gardens. One of the best places we have stayed.

The accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and we felt at home straight away. The owner had gone above and beyond catering for guests needs. An extremely generous welcome basket awaited us. We could not have been looked after better.

Very tranquil, hidden away location.

Set in beautiful grounds with views of the surrounding countryside. Accommodation very pleasant and comfortable and well equipped. The owners have thought of every detail and are very approachable and helpful.

A great few days break.

Super location both for visiting attractions but also a beautiful setting, very peaceful and lots of wildlife. Premises excellent in terms of cleanliness, facilities and comfort. A much appreciated welcome pack and all the utility products needed. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and was always available if needed leaving nothing to be wanted for. Easily one of the best cottages we have visited.

I cannot fault this property, it is exactly as advertised in the pictures, with lovely, thoughtful touches.

The welcome food basket was lovely, and unlimited fire wood was great. The hosts were very welcoming and answered all the questions we had. The kitchen area is well equipped and the bedroom was also well decorated. It was cosy and practical- perfect for a relaxing break and driving further into the peak district. I would definitely book this stay again.

The accommodation is warm and cosy with lovely homely touches. Ideally situated to explore all of the local towns and villages, March Hare is fabulous for that peaceful/busy break that you might be looking for.

Very helpful owner who also offered excellent local knowledge about places locally to eat. Really lovely welcome hamper on arrival. Property would benefit from an entrance signpost from roadside.

David was great nothing too much trouble,and the food hamper was not expected,all round we had a lovely week

David provided detailed instructions in advance of our arrival on how to find the cottage, was there to welcome us and show us around, the welcome hamper was extraordinarily generous, wood burning stove makes the evenings cosy, central heating very responsive, shower room spacious, furnishings very up market, the kitchen and crockery is top notch, and the bed is so comfy!

Great place to explore the southern Peak District, Calke Abbey and Keddleston Hall - great spaces outside the cottage to eat and relax - when the weather is good enough! Highly recommended.

Superb stay in lovely accommodation.

High quality fittings and furnishings. Amazing welcome pack with many goodies. Peaceful surroundings as well away from the main road. Saw pheasants, hares and squirrels. No freezer facility but the owners kindly froze some ice packs for me. No recycling bins to hand. Very close to Kedleston Hall and Carsington Water where there are excellent walks, scenery and wildlife. The restaurant at Carsington Water has a great menu and excellent food.

A fantastic little find , if you want to relax and explore this is the perfect place .

David was the perfect host and very knowledgeable about the area . We were left a Amazing welcome basket which was a surprise and appreciated. We enjoyed our time here and would recommend you try . Just like to thank them for the few days we had there .

Fantastic hosts in David & Andrea. The gorgeous property had everything we could have wanted, in a great location - plus a very lovely welcome basket, tailored to our needs as we’re gluten free, it was such a thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed our holiday at March Hare from the excellent cottage, brilliant walks and the weather.

David was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The cottage was very clean and everything you could need was there. One of the best cottages we have stayed in (and we have stopped in a few). We would like to thank David and his wife for a wonderful holiday and the generous food package.

The cottage was excellent in every way and our host was friendly and helpful while not being intrusive.

March Hare is a wonderful cottage fully justifying its 5 star rating.

Beautifully appointed in a quiet and scenic location and handy for walking or National Trust properties in the area. There are also some great eating establishments near by. David and Anrea - the owners couldn't be more helpful! They provided by far the best welcome pack we have had on our travels. Highly recommended!

Generous touches and great welcome hamper. The cottage was very well equipped and the towels were even changed midweek. David gave us lots of recommendations on where to go and where to eat. A little hard to find but hosts will talk you through if you get lost. Really enjoyable week in a high end cottage.

As this is a relatively new property, everything was in an excellent condition and the furnishings very comfortable.

The owners were very helpful, friendly and informative. The welcome pack was extremely generous and well thought out, and quite honestly the best we have ever had. March Hare is well thought out and equipped to a high standard.

The thoughtful extras provided by the owners meant that we didn’t have to worry about everyday things like hand soap, tea towels and washing up liquid. Miraculously, we received fresh towels half way through the week. The welcome basket was the best and most generous I have encountered in decades of renting holiday cottages and David was an attentive and cheerful host for whom nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is situated in peaceful gardens and amongst trees, and is within reach of some good places, all of which, though, must be reached by car, since there are no walks from the door. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We had a wonderful, relaxing 4 nights in March Hare, the owner, David, was very welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay.

Set in a beautiful and quiet location, there is plenty to see and from the doorstep. The welcome hamper was full of gorgeous items for breakfast. The whole experience was perfect and I couldn't recommend it highly enough to couples who are looking to get away for a quiet break.

Lovely owner and information about where to eat and walks was great.

Ilam park was lovely and the pub in Shirley was fantastic. A lovely meal for our 1st wedding Anniversary. We received a change of towels mid week and a lovely welcome basket with Prosecco. It was like staying in a hotel. Would recommend the tissington trail for cycling as well. Super quiet cottage and the Autumn colours were breathtaking!!

We had a wonderful stay at the March Hare.

The owners are very friendly and greeted us when we arrived. We found a beautiful welcome basket in the kitchen which included many breakfast items and this was much appreciated! The rooms are finished to a high standard and are very comfortable. The location is also excellent, as it is within a 30-45 minute drive of the main attractions of the Peak District. We had a very quiet and peaceful stay, therefore I would recommend others not to hesitate to book!

The accommodation was perfect, newly finished and very nicely decorated with everything you could possibly need in a superb location. David and Andrea are excellent hosts and have fantastic taste in restaurants - providing us with great recommendations! Dave and Andrea were great first time hosts, who were ready and willing to do anything and happy to bring anything additional to the cottage, very quickly.
