  • "By far the best holiday cottage I've stayed in."

It was so wonderful, I wanted to live there! Both Louise & Darren are lovely hosts, genuinely wanting their guests to feel at home. Cottage has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, the bath was luxurious with piping hot water. Kitchen had all necessary essentials, plenty of books & DVD's in the lounge area and a very comfy sofa which looks out onto the private, grassed garden. Biscuits & milk were left as a 'welcome' which was very much appreciated. Although the cottage backs onto the road, there was hardly any traffic and no traffic could be heard at all from inside the cottage. There was under-floor heating too which my dog loved to lie on, preferring it to his doggy bed. The weather wasn't too great with intermittent high winds, sleet and hail, but I was more than cosy and it was lovely sitting on the sofa, looking out into the garden and changes in weather. As someone who thrives amongst nature, peace & quiet, this cottage was perfect. I would highly recommend this cottage and I hope to book again, perhaps in the Autumn. Thank you so much Darren & Louise.

  • "Brilliant little get away cottage."

It was very nicely furnished and even had a few bits of decoration up for Christmas. The garden was plenty big enough for our Spaniel to zoom in, but we did have to keep him on his long-line as he could jump over the wall. Really quite location and perfect access to the peak district and walking routes. Facilities were great, even had WIFI and an amazon firestick with an various streaming apps already logged in and ready to go. We will be visiting again!

  • "It's good there are light switches for disabled people but the latches to doors will be out of reach."

Maybe a shelf under the mirror in the bathroom? Maybe when payment is complete, a breakdown of what's available at the cottage so people don't take duplicate items.

  • "A wonderful week in the Peak District in a great location for us."

The cottage was ready earlier than stated time and the owner Louise contacted us facilitating our early arrival. The cottage fitted our needs perfectly as we had a large dog and the outside space was safe and secure. Underfloor heating was a bonus, especially if you forget your slippers. The bedroom was spacious and well furnished with plenty of storage space and the bed was comfortable. Parking was provided specifically for the cottage and additional off road parking was always accessible. We would definitely recommend and return to this property.

  • "The security lighting outside shines in the bedroom windows all night so thicker curtains and black out blinds would be good so that you can get some sleep ."

The gardener arrived at 830 on the day we were due to leave .Although we were up thought it was wrong as have paid for cottage and garden till 10 we could have been having breakfast outside .Due to this and lack of sleep we would not stay there again

Dear Mrs Banks, we were very disappointed to read your comments about a security light being on all night because we do not have any security lights which stay on all night, and no other guests have ever mentioned this to us in the last five years. If you are referring to the light on the side of the cottage, this is motion detected and gives a warm yellow light to illuminate the path for two minutes when it is activated, for guest safety. It is unfortunate that our gardener had to spend a short time in your garden on the day of your departure and hope that our special effort to let you into the property two hours early on your arrival day goes some way to making up for this. Best wishes, Darren and Louise Property Owner

  • "The cottage is very clean."

Would benefit greatly from a larger TV and sofa. The bathroom is very small but the deep bath is lovely. The bed is comfortable. We visited with our sproodle, who was able to jump over the stone wall, so if you have a dog be aware of this. Overall, a lovely stay.

  • "Lovely cottage & hosts."

I felt very safe with the covid situation. Good walks locally. Lots of extras provided in kitchen & bathroom. Biscuits & cake also. Louise changed the heating for me twice. Very comfy large bed and small sofa. She cooked me a breakfast & brought it over. Good tv & wi fi reception. Cupboard space in kitchen was limited so I used the dishwasher as one. Toilet was high for my little legs. Dog didn't like the underfloor heating & was tempted to leap the wall after the limited traffic he also found he could push through the chicken wire at bottom of hedge. He is only just a year old, I had taken a horse training lead just incase. If he were older I think he would have been fine. I had a brilliant time & came away feeling completely refreshed.

  • "When we first walked in to the cottage, we thought it was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures."

However, having settled in to it , we found it to be a very nice and comfortable cottage. Garden was great for our dogs. Owners not on top of you, but very nice and available if wanted. Maybe a bizarre comment, but the raised toilet was excellent for someone with dodgy knees. Probably the only "down" thing is the TV reception (limited channels) but lets face it, you don't go on holiday to watch the box. Will probably return some time.

The garden is nice and secure for dogs, so we were able to let our staffie run around and enjoy herself. Hosts Darren and Louise are lovely and made us feel so welcome, but weren't at all intrusive. Moorland View Farm Cottages

These two cosy cottages are located in a courtyard in the grounds of the owner’s B&B in the small hamlet of Winkhill, set in an elevated position in five acres overlooking stunning countryside near the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne. The cottages are a lovely conversion of traditional Staffordshire stone buildings, blending original features and modern styling with exposed beams. Outside, both cottages have beautiful gardens to sit and take in the glorious views. There are many pubs and restaurants nearby and you can even arrange to have your breakfast next door if you fancy it (pending availability). There are stunning walks to be taken in Mill Dale and Dove Dale or you can explore the National Trust’s Hawksmoor, an ancient forest nature reserve. Within half an hour's drive, guests can enjoy a round of golf on the excellent course at Whiston. The area offers many ancient relics from its industrial past, namely the Caldon Canal built in 1776 and restored in 1974, which runs through the Churnet Valley. Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway. Alton Towers is just a short drive away, as are the Staffordshire Potteries, the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek, Uttoxeter Racecourse and the majestic Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park and Blackbrook Zoological Gardens. A great base for a memorable holiday at any time of the year
