Swallow Cottage

A very peaceful getaway.

Well placed for local attractions and scenery, particularly the Manifold Valley.

It had it's own walled garden area for our dog and dedicated parking spot. Cottage has a large bedroom with more than adequate wardrobe space. Kitchen/Diner/Lounge is all one area with limited space, so sofa is maybe a bit small and not the most comfortable, but perfectly adequate for our short stay.

We had a brilliant relaxing week at Swallow Cottage.

The cottage itself is well maintained, comfortable and has everything you'd need. The bed especially was very comfortable. I usually don't sleep the first night in a new bed but I was out like a log! The hosts Louise and Darren were very friendly, and it was lovely to be able to view the partial eclipse. Even during the intense heat the bedroom stayed cool, and the garden is fully dog-proof meaning our girl could just stay out there all week and chill (which she did.) Lovely quiet area to walk around and explore too. We would not hesitate to book another stay here.

It was lovely holiday

Excellent in every way.

Love the cottage, so homely in every way, hosts excellent. Had a great week cannot wait to return one day .

Lovely cottage, it had everything we needed and a good base to explore the peak district.

Lovely little cottage, well presented and very quiet.

You will be hard pressed to stay in a comfier bed in a 5* hotel!

I’m not kidding. The beds in Swallow Cottage and Robin Cottage are SO comfy! And the duvet too. We stayed over Christmas and the weather got to -3°c and we were never cold in the cottage at all. From the underfloor heating to the thick duvet, we were so cosy. And every morning we opened the curtains to see the sun rising over the hills. Just a great little stay and our Frenchie loved the garden. For anyone wondering (as we were before arriving), the hedges are surrounded by chicken wire at the bottom so there’s no chance your pup can get out underneath.

A lovely peaceful place to stay, easy access to main routes and lots to see and visit in easy reach.

Cottage well fitted out and very comfortable.

The cottage was stunning well designed, it was well equipped with everything you need just turn up with your shopping, easy to use equipment too!

Stunning views even thought you are next to a road this is no problem you hardly hear the traffic. Would recommend this cottage. Peak District is beautiful and there is lots to do.

The cottage was easy to find and parking was easy as it had its own parking space.

The location was very quiet, our nearest neighbours were cows, which was lovely. The cottage was very well equipped and I must say the bed very comfortable. Louise and Darren were both very friendly. We will definitely visit again.

Swallow cottage is a perfect compact little place to stay.

Lovely walks from the door. Nice pub 1/2 hour walk away. Cottage is warm, has a really comfy bed and everything that you could possibly need. Garden is private and secure and dry stone wall is plenty high enough to keep your dog secure. Beautiful sunsets to be seen at the end of a sunny day. Darren and Louise are so lovely and very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. All in all Swallow cottage is a little gem of a place.

A wonderful cottage for two people in a lovely area.

Exceptionally well kitted out and impressively designed to maximise the space. Lovely and warm too. We’ll definitely be back.

Had a wonderful stay with my dog.

Arrived to fresh milk in the fridge, tea/coffee and a lovely chocolate cake, which I thought was a lovely thought. Location was beautiful, as was the little cottage, which was equipped with all you would need. Very peaceful and cosy. I would stay again and highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfect stay, everything that we needed.

It was such a quiet and cosy stay.

The cottage had everything we needed for our week stay. And our little dog loved the underfloor heating and after walks in the colder weather. Loved it

We stayed at the cottage over the New Year and really enjoyed it.

It was warm, well equipped and had lovely views. Will certainly return!

Cottage is very clean and, and within easy reach of places of interest to visit.

The only problem for us was the height of the WC and bed which made a difficulty for Stella who is only 5' 0" tall.

me and my wife spent a week at swallow cottage and the dog Mandy.

the cottage was just as advertised loved the shower the garden was great for Mandy and we had all the bits and pieces we needed for a great stay. Louise was great, the weather was very good during our stay and we certainly got about just what we needed and Mandy had a great time as well all being well we expect to be going back next year thank you for the milk and chocolate cake very yummy

Me and my dog had a wonderful stay and enjoyed exploring and walking the surrounding area.

There is plenty around! You will not be bored. The cottage is very peaceful and quiet. Everything you could pretty much think you need is provided for you. The owners were also very respectful of my and my dog as he is very nervous.

Lovely clean, comfortable property.

Quiet and peaceful. Cake and milk left as a welcome gift. Kitchen well equipped but still room to put own food. Nice garden to sit in when the weather is good. Off the road parking next to the cottage.

Lovely people, very friendly, accommodation was perfect with our golden retriever who enjoyed the field opposite.

Good base to explore Staffordshire and also Derbyshire. We were very comfortable, underfloor heating was great because it could get chilly

Our second stay here, our first back in 2021 was just as wonderful!

They've updated the bathroom which was nice as the bath/shower before caused a bit of a mess. Well looked after, great access to the peak district and towns. Great views. The wall isn't that high on the roadside so make sure your dog doesn't jump over. Looking forward to returning in the future!

We enjoyed our stay although cottage a little small.

It was extremely clean. We did enjoy the peace & quiet of the area & would recommend it fully

Fantastic cottage, relaxing location with great views.

Local pub was nice to walk to and was very friendly.

Beautifully maintained and really well equipped with marvellous views.

Amazing!

Everything was spotlessly clean with lovely quality goods. Towels & bedding etc was immaculate....couldn't have asked for more. Thank you xx

The only thing I would suggest, if there was a fire and you couldn't escape the bedroom, the bedroom windows would make for a difficult escape.

If one window had a bottom opener, then all guests could escape (even canine ones)

Thanks Louise & Darren for a great stay the views were breathtaking and the large garden was a bonus for Teddy our little furball the cottage was very cosy and the underfloor heating was great thanks Alan, sue &teddy

This lovely little cottage in the middle of nowhere was exactly what my wife, myself and our furry friend needed.

So quiet and peaceful. Had everything that was needed for a week away including great WiFi. You can hike from your doorstep or just a small car journey you are in the middle of the peak district. We will be back sometime.

This is a gem of a property.

Beautifully decorated with a fantastic dog-friendly garden. A few minutes in the car and you are in the heart of the beautiful Peak district. Great parking and it felt like home immediately.

Very nice cottage well equiped

A good place to stay with lots of eateries, largely dog friendly, within a short driving distance.

A good sized enclosed garden for our young King Charles spaniel to be safely let out into, though the grass could’ve done with cutting to safely aid dog doo spotting but I think we got it all. Brilliant new shower. Very comfortable bed. Underfloor heating was a bonus. All in all everything we needed was there. Outside the property was not great for dog walking though as there were few safe areas off road to escape the local farm traffic unless you went in fields with designated public rights of way. That’s about the only ‘con’ we could find. Highly recommended and would stay again.

An exceptional cottage.

It was exactly as described only better! Clean, comfortable and warm with a really comfortable king sized bed and lovely hot powerful shower. Very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Super enclosed garden with views of the surrounding countryside, a private enclosed parking space for the car. Peaceful location, perfect for exploring the moorlands and peaks. A big thank you to the owners for making our stay a memorable one!

Lovely property, enclosed garden, comfy bed, lovely and warm, kitchen equipped with everything.

1000% was lovely would recommend.

Very nice and warm cottage with good parking and very nice scenery around.

Louise was very welcoming and provided tea, coffee and a chocolate cal on arrival. Very enjoyable stay. Bathroom was being upgraded when we left with a shower instead of a bathe. Hope it is in for the next guests

Well equipt cosy cottage.

Plenty of walks both from the cottage and within a short drive. Very pet friendly. Hosts on site, helpful and welcoming, (though not intrusive) especially when our Cavilier, Biscuit, managed to find a small gap in the otherwise secure garden. Louise and Daren immediately set about repairing it, thank you! Thank you also for the welcome cake, biscuits and milk, very much appreciated.

A cosy comfortable cottage in the perfect location for exploring both the Peak District and Staffordshire Moorlands.

Perfect for a single person or couple. Owners on hand if needed but not at all intrusive. Would recommend.

We spent a week in Swallow Cottage, we couldn't have asked for anything better.

It was well equipped and furnished to a high standard. We wanted for nothing. TV with lots of channels, clean and well maintained. We met the owners Daren and Louise who were very welcoming and said if we needed anything to let them know. We will be back next year. Phil Jacqui and Bear who loved freedom in enclosed garden

We arrived at the cottage and it was a beautiful day the views was… WOW could see for miles the cottage inside was excellent for us very high ceilings with beams was lovely …the bathroom had a large bath with shower attachment which was nice having after a day of walking and hunting around the shops… The bedroom well it was nice and big king size bed very good closet space dressing table with plug for hair dryer and hair dryer is provided along with all washing products in the bathroom shampoo, body wash Etc….

Also plug sockets in all room have USB charging points… The living room has nice size two setter with a small coffee table and and two person table to eat off… The TV has a DVD player with cds films provided and there is prime and Netflix in with the package…. There is a folder in the cottage that gives you good info for places to go and vets and areas of interest …. outside good parking spaces the one outside the cottage good size for my Astra but more parking there for bigger cars and the garden has a dry stonewall about 4 1/2 foot high and is on a road so depending on your dog you might need to lead them up on a extendable but over all it was a brilliant week away and there is a lot more for us to do see and visit so I hope this a has helped and if you go have a great time like we did Kind regards

A beautiful cottage!

Loved everything! A very peaceful holiday!

We had an amazing stay, the cottage is lovely.

Very peaceful and amazing views. It has all the comforts you need, underfloor heating, great smart tv , roll top Bath and Netflix and it even has a dishwasher.

The cottage was very comfortable clean and well equipped.

The owners were on site and quickly dealt with a problem I had with my dog escaping through the hedge. Very friendly. Well worth a visit

Excellent location for our walking holiday.

Very homely cottage, nice lawn area for our dog. Attentive hosts and would highly recommend.

By far the best holiday cottage I've stayed in.

It was so wonderful, I wanted to live there! Both Louise & Darren are lovely hosts, genuinely wanting their guests to feel at home. Cottage has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, the bath was luxurious with piping hot water. Kitchen had all necessary essentials, plenty of books & DVD's in the lounge area and a very comfy sofa which looks out onto the private, grassed garden. Biscuits & milk were left as a 'welcome' which was very much appreciated. Although the cottage backs onto the road, there was hardly any traffic and no traffic could be heard at all from inside the cottage. There was under-floor heating too which my dog loved to lie on, preferring it to his doggy bed. The weather wasn't too great with intermittent high winds, sleet and hail, but I was more than cosy and it was lovely sitting on the sofa, looking out into the garden and changes in weather. As someone who thrives amongst nature, peace & quiet, this cottage was perfect. I would highly recommend this cottage and I hope to book again, perhaps in the Autumn. Thank you so much Darren & Louise.

Brilliant little get away cottage.

It was very nicely furnished and even had a few bits of decoration up for Christmas. The garden was plenty big enough for our Spaniel to zoom in, but we did have to keep him on his long-line as he could jump over the wall. Really quite location and perfect access to the peak district and walking routes. Facilities were great, even had WIFI and an amazon firestick with an various streaming apps already logged in and ready to go. We will be visiting again!

It's good there are light switches for disabled people but the latches to doors will be out of reach.

Maybe a shelf under the mirror in the bathroom? Maybe when payment is complete, a breakdown of what's available at the cottage so people don't take duplicate items.

A very warm, cosy cottage.

Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

A wonderful week in the Peak District in a great location for us.

The cottage was ready earlier than stated time and the owner Louise contacted us facilitating our early arrival. The cottage fitted our needs perfectly as we had a large dog and the outside space was safe and secure. Underfloor heating was a bonus, especially if you forget your slippers. The bedroom was spacious and well furnished with plenty of storage space and the bed was comfortable. Parking was provided specifically for the cottage and additional off road parking was always accessible. We would definitely recommend and return to this property.

We had a really lovely break.

Your cottage was a great base for our break visiting the Peak District

The security lighting outside shines in the bedroom windows all night so thicker curtains and black out blinds would be good so that you can get some sleep .

The gardener arrived at 830 on the day we were due to leave .Although we were up thought it was wrong as have paid for cottage and garden till 10 we could have been having breakfast outside .Due to this and lack of sleep we would not stay there again

The proprietors where very welcoming, the cottage was absolutely beautiful and you couldn’t have asked for more, it was well a quipped with everything you could want, milk and biscuits provided.

Would definitely return and recommend to anyone

The cottage is very clean.

Would benefit greatly from a larger TV and sofa. The bathroom is very small but the deep bath is lovely. The bed is comfortable. We visited with our sproodle, who was able to jump over the stone wall, so if you have a dog be aware of this. Overall, a lovely stay.

Had a lovely time.

.peaceful..a great mixture of places to visit...to return to cottage with my young dog..who had a great time in private garden...hoping to return next year.xx

Lovely completely enclosed garden ideal for pets

Lovely cottage & hosts.

I felt very safe with the covid situation. Good walks locally. Lots of extras provided in kitchen & bathroom. Biscuits & cake also. Louise changed the heating for me twice. Very comfy large bed and small sofa. She cooked me a breakfast & brought it over. Good tv & wi fi reception. Cupboard space in kitchen was limited so I used the dishwasher as one. Toilet was high for my little legs. Dog didn't like the underfloor heating & was tempted to leap the wall after the limited traffic he also found he could push through the chicken wire at bottom of hedge. He is only just a year old, I had taken a horse training lead just incase. If he were older I think he would have been fine. I had a brilliant time & came away feeling completely refreshed.

Excellent use of space in cosy barn conversion.

Very good for two with dog friendly facilities. Well fenced garden and parking space. Helpful but non intrusive hosts. WiFi variable but not in great area for reception. TV signal intermittent.

Loved our stay, would be a benefit if there was a shower room or shower cubicle on the beautiful bath/bathroom

Hi We had a lovely stay , Louise was really friendly and helpful in communicating our arrival details and offered her help if we required it during the stay.

Lovely accommodation and right on the doorstep of good places to visit - we took the dogs for a walk up at the Roaches which has fantastic views and we’d highly recommend.

The beautiful cottage and scenery!

Really comfy cottage- everything we expected from the description and great location for walks and visits in Staffordshire moorlands and peak district

This cottage is small but very comfortable.

The bed is very comfortable and the whole place was clean. There are fantastic views and a large secure garden for a dog. The owner very nice but not intrusive. Plenty of parking and in an excellent location. All in all a really great place to say.

Great place to relax & get away from it all.

Cottage was just right for 2 & dog, who loved the garden. Lots of nice walks, especially Milldale. Would return. Liz,Dave& Harvey.

Swallow Cottage is an absolutely beautiful place to rest up, recoup and explore the local areas.

Absolutely wonderful place and Louise is a gem at looking after you and the cottage. Nothing to fault there at all. I know where I'll be if I am heading up to the Peak District area again! Thank you so much.

When we first walked in to the cottage, we thought it was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures.

However, having settled in to it , we found it to be a very nice and comfortable cottage. Garden was great for our dogs. Owners not on top of you, but very nice and available if wanted. Maybe a bizarre comment, but the raised toilet was excellent for someone with dodgy knees. Probably the only "down" thing is the TV reception (limited channels) but lets face it, you don't go on holiday to watch the box. Will probably return some time.

Lovely clean well equipped cottage, spacious garden ideal for the dog, plenty of places to visit nearby.

Louise & Darren are extremely welcoming, we will return!

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful setting.

Highly recommend. Our staffie Enzo loved it especially the garden. Thank you Louise and Darren.

Beautifully equipped and comfort cottage.

Owners very helpful and friendly. We will return i’m Sure.

Fantastic weekend, meet all our requirements, definitely use again.

Great cottage, location and hosts.

Had originally booked for seven nights, but arranged with the owners to arrive one day early and because we enjoyed our stay so much extended stay for another two nights. We were familiar with the area and in spite of worse than terrible weather it did not detract from the enjoyment of our time there. We will be returning to the area and intend to stay at the very same cottage and perhapsdwe will be luckier with the weather!

Great week away , so glad we found this little Gem .

Lovely cottage , clean , comfortable everything you need, nothing has been forgotten in this cottage . We took our 7 month only pup with us & we enjoyed all the walks around us , beautiful countryside & not too far to visit other places . We will sure to be visiting again in the future . Thankyou to Louise & Darren lovely owners X

Great location - loved the outdoor space for the dog

Lovely quaint cottage with a homely feel to it.

It's in a nice area with quite a few places to visit.

This is a perfect little cottage for two and their dog.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and were made to feel very welcome. The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a great break and little touches like the welcome pack made it that much better. The underfloor heating was excellent and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog. We would definitely come back.

Swallow Cottage is the perfect little base for getaway.

Cosy yet practical, with a beautifully stocked kitchen (a corkscrew! Wine glasses! Decent saucepans! Sharp kitchen knives!!), a roomy and comfortable bedroom, and a lovely bathroom it has everything you need. The garden is nice and secure for dogs, so we were able to let our staffie run around and enjoy herself. Hosts Darren and Louise are lovely and made us feel so welcome, but weren't at all intrusive. We had a perfect break away from the city here in such beautiful surroundings - in fact, we got engaged! We will definitely be back.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed.

Well placed for good eating places at local pubs. Great walking country with our dog. Lots of country parks and lakeside walks. Excellent holiday

beautiful clean cottage, brilliant location!

The owners are very helpful! Couldn't have asked for better!

Louise and Darren were very helpful, very welcoming and took care of the little things that make a holiday special, like the toiletries & things in the kitchen that you mostly have to buy yourself.

The biscuits and the milk were very much appreciated as well. We loved the cottage and would definitely return. Lionel & Debbie

Swallow cottage is a lovely, clean, well equipped cottage with a good size garden for our dog to run around.

It is a perfect base to explore the Peak District and the owners are very welcoming.

The cottage was amazing, the owners were lovely.

Couldn't ask for more

The cottage was in a wonderful location and it was very peaceful.

My husband and I had a very relaxing weekend away. Would come back again.

Super Cottage/Barn.

Very well equipped with more than usual items, even a Dog bowl. Large garden. Lovely owners. Stunning scenery and weather. Thank you Louise. Will return .

Very comfortable stay in an excellent location just 20 to 30 mins drive to all of our wish list visits.

Already planning to come back.

Lovely cosy cottage, ideal for exploring the area.

Could have used a small clothes horse to dry our clothes as the weather was very wet.

This property only has underfloor heating and you needed their oil filled radiator.

Well equipped though lacking an iron. Nice garden with views and well enclosed for our dog.

Very friendly welcome, and a very cosy cottage I'd definitely recommend, beautiful area.

Hosts are super friendly but not intrusive so you feel like the cottage is yours!

Well equipped and clean. Loads of things to do near by, can't recommend it enough!

Very well equipped and immaculately clean.

Underfloor heating was a bonus. Owner of property lives on site but was unobtrusive. Well recommended.
