Been twice now with childhood friends for relaxing get together.

. there is everything you need here. Very spacious.. clean comfy rooms .. great showers.. dogs loved it too.. lovely welcome basket, milk and butter.. local pubs 5 mins walk.. serving great food, what more could you possibly need

We had a lovely weekend family gathering at Wren Cottage.

The dining kitchen looking onto the garden is lovely. We had fabulous weather so didn’t really need the boot room too much but can imagine how useful it is. However we found the coolness of the lounge a fabulous retreat during the hottest part of the day. Also we have never used an ice machine so much. The grandchildren loved it and it definitely kept them hydrated. Beds and furniture are all very comfortable. Ground floor toilet a real plus. The area is beautiful and the village is very nice. We loved being able to walk to local village park pubs etc. Next time we will hopefully book for longer.

Handy for the pub although Denshaw has very little else to offer so you'll need a car, public transport or Ubers.

Property is in a nice quiet location in a lovely welcoming village with lovely local pubs, which welcome dogs.

Unfortunately the property let us down, it was constantly cold & drafty in the living room, some downstairs radiators weren’t getting hot enough, we had to buy extra logs as the basket provided only lasted 2 nights, we had to sit with duvets on every night. All rooms upstairs & kitchen were nice and warm, we did enjoy using the oven & fridge freezer. Oven trays were very warn. Cleanliness not up to standard- all bedroom blinds very dusty as was windowsill in main bedroom, ensuite dusty, marks on the toilet, shower gel holder dirty, shower uninviting, mould on tiles, marks on tiles, chips on tiles looked grubby. Cracked tile on ensuite floor. Underneath main bedroom bed was dirty, empty toilet roll under bed etc, draws in bed very dusty. Table cloth on kitchen table was dirty. Storage upstairs insufficient- small hanging rail in main bedroom which was also hanging off the wall. 2 bedside drawers & 2 slim dressing table drawers, not enough storage for a week’s worth of clothes. However the shower over the bath was powerful & hot. Welcome pack underwhelming- packet of croissants, 1 pint of milk & a pack of butter, hardly what is advertised on the photos on here or what others have said in previous reviews. In welcome book it mentions dog welcome pack- we couldn’t find 1 apart from a basket with dog towels in- no bowls etc. Had to constantly watch our dog (border collie) outside as he could’ve easily escaped by fitting under the garden gate. I mentioned all of our concerns to Sykes following our first night, who said they’d inform owners & get back to us, we heard nothing back from Sykes or owners (who only live next door) We were left feeling that they didn’t care. This is such a shame as we loved the area & would’ve returned, we holiday in cottages at least 3 times a year & regularly return, this is the first time I have left a negative review.

Our 3rd stay at this cottage, absolutely love it.

Post code to get there caused some challenges, recommend using a pin drop.

Front window and casing should be professionally replaced, cold air rushing in. Had to goto hardware store to try to stop the wind and rain. Upstaits guest room blinds need fixing. And the 1/2 bath down stairs toilet doesn't flush correctly. All easy tlc fixes. But I would rent again

I would most definitely recommend this property and the surrounding location. Lovely pub/restaurant within walking distance completed the experience.

The extra items e.g. Tea bags, sugar, shampoo and shower gel were really nice. Might be a good idea to mention this so guests would not need to bring them. We did cook one meal during our stay but found the oven trays were past their best. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return. Thank you.

The cottage was lovely, very clean warn and welcoming.

Had every facility in the kitchen you could think of. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, literally everything was supplied. The mattress where comfortable and the pillows ok (just a little soft- I ended up getting 2 more off another bed) The 2 biggest things for me where: 1. The blinds in the room need to be black out. Now we are in the summer and it's getting light at 4am the current blinds do not stop this. Unfortunately it woke us and the baby early every morning. Some black out blinds would be better. 2. The gate needs to be a little securer as even a large dog could get under this and escape out on to the busy main road. Luckily our dogs are pretty good and stayed in the garden. However I can see why previous guests have been concerned. However overall our stay has still been 5/5 we all had a lovely time (apart from the bad weather) and we would all highly recommend Wren Cottage.

Everything about wren cottage is perfect , I was working in the area cottage got a great drive to park the van , fantastic kitchen , big tv and the bedrooms are huge there’s a village pub down the road , great places to walk and cycle too

Beautiful cottage but not enough seating in the living room for six people.

Maybe put a two seater sofa under the stairs. It was very clean and well presented, had everything that you could need.

Great cottage.

Very well equipped and with very generous welcome pack, toiletries, coffee pods (Tassimo) and logs. Perfect base for our holiday with friends. Some great walks including Mam Tor and Ladybower reservoir. Both village pubs lovely with good food. Garden even better than it looks in the listing - dogs loved it and great for sitting out when the weather improves!

We had a fabulous holiday at Wren Cottage.

The location was amazing with beautiful scenery and the added bonus of a cosy pub - The Junction Inn - just 5 minutes walk down the road, selling very tasty food. The cottage itself has all the amenities you could ask for, even a welcome basket and a fabulous coffee machine and pods. The rooms and beds are very cosy and comfortable with plenty of hangers to put your clothes on. The wood burner was very welcome during the chilly evenings. Hairdryers were also in most bedrooms, so no need to bring your own. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap are also in each bathroom. Wren Cottage was a very comfortable base with which to visit our northern family and we will definitely be back - thank you!

Lovely cottage.

We had a great stay. All clean and cosy. Great pub within 2min walking distance from cottage “the junction.” The only thing is the garden. I can’t let my little dogs off the lead, so I couldn’t just let them out for a wee so had to put leads on every time they needed to go out. And with the gate next to main road there wasn’t any protection regarding safety for them.

Wren Cottage is a great place for a break and location to explore the hills and surrounding sites.

We really enjoyed our stay and it really felt like a home from home and will definitely come back here again.

The welcome pack was useful as our grocery delivery from Asda did not arrive until the next morning.

Comfortable beds and hot showers spacious lounge with room to play board games with the family . Kitchen was well equipped just needed a bigger pan for 6 people. Useful vacuum- even the 14 year old wanted to clean up . Central location for the regions we wanted to visit .

The cottage was like a home away from home when we got together as an extended family.

There was everything we needed to be able to cook family meals and spend evenings in front of the fire playing games. The facilities were modern and very clean and tidy. Lots of special touches added to the comfort and style of the cottage. We would certainly recommend this property and intend to revisit in the future. Thank you!

Very well kept beautiful farm cottage with a modern well equipped kitchen.

The living room has a welcoming log wood burner and has three good sized bedrooms with the master bedroom benefiting from a beautiful on suite. We didn’t get to use the dining room but is also a good size along with a very useful conservatory. This property has great views and the garden is equipped with a bbq table and chairs .

We were very impressed with Wren cottage .

everything was perfect for us as a family of four generations .we were busy the whole weekend .the young ones enjoyed the board games in the evening.We would definately stay again if we had the opportunity

Probably the best equipped cottage we have had the pleasure of staying in.

Every little detail of being able to live like you're at home has been thought of. A stones throw away from a couple of cosy pubs that provide excellent food too. A real bonus

Wren Cottage was perfect for our short break for 6.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the log burner and beds were very.comfy. would highly recommend a stay at here. Close to motorway links for easy access, but tucked away in a pretty village after a short drive over the moors. Great views all around.

3 Generations of our family and 3 dogs spent a long weekend at Wren cottage.

The cottage was spacious, very comfortable and spotless. Nice touch to arrive to fresh milk and crumpet loaf. Junction pub a short walk down the hill was welcoming, had great beer and food, plus is dog friendly. We really enjoyed walking around the local reservoirs and coming home to relax in front of the log burner. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely lovely cottage in a perfect location to explore the local area.

It was really well equipped and so comfortable with lovely personal touches throughout, including a welcome basket including local bread and milk. What can be better than watching sheep grazing and chickens pecking in the field outside your kitchen window. We had 3 dogs who were also catered for with dog towels and a perfect boot room where they slept. Great pub (The Junction) only 200 yards away serving great food. Highly recommend this cottage.

Really nice cottage set in beautiful surroundings Host very good .

Lovely cottage set in a large garden on the edge of the village with lovely views onto the moors, 2 local dog friendly pubs within safe walking distance that served excellent food.

Local club was also welcoming to non members. Easy access from Motorway and only a short drive to the property. Well appointed kitchen with everything you needed to cook at home if needed, 2 large bedrooms ideal for couples, and a smaller double. We were 6 adults with 2 dogs and had plenty of room.

Lovely comfortable beds and excellent showers. We enjoyed exploring and walking in the local area, a couple of local pubs with excellent food. We would love to return.

A really nice cottage that was comfortable for 5 adults ( or 6) and set in an interesting garden with good views.

We visited during a hot spell so it was great to sit outside but there is plenty of space inside and the kitchen is well equipped for all levels of catering. The pub down the road (5 minutes walk) does excellent food as well. We hadn’t been to the Saddleworth area before but would come back again as there is plenty more to explore.

Lovely cottage with some special touches, the owners have really thought about all the little extras.

A lovely position near moors and reservoirs really pretty area. The only downside is if you have a small dog like my escape artist - garden not fully secure.

Amazing property inside and out.

Loved the garden, can't wait to use it more on our next visit. Owners left us be but where available when we needed them. Lovely and friendly owners and neighbours.

Lovely cottage comfortable and clean had everything you needed except for a tea towel so don’t forget to take one.

There were 3 dogs with us and the owner unlocked the gate to the field at the top of the garden which was great for them to run around in. Lovely little welcome pack milk, butter and a few snacks. We had some lovely walks it was just a shame the weather turned bad for our last day. Definitely recommend and we would go back.

Great pub for food within 5 mins walk. Cottage spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and has everything you need. Good facilities for dogs. Very enjoyable stay.

Nice house, lovely welcome pack, 2 things that disappointed us, although we asked for a cot, nobody came back until after we left to inform us that there was no mattress for the cot, when we asked if a mattress could be available, reply was that there were none locally for collection, we arrived and found one 5 miles away at Argos which we purchased within an hour of arrival.

Also the garden is not fully enclosed and if you have dogs be aware as the cottage very close to a busy A road.

This has probably been the nicest cottage we've stayed in and we've stayed in a few in our time!

The cottage facilities and amenities provided were absolutely superb and the location was just ideal for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely look to go back again which I think is testimony to how good it really is.

Everything was provided for a break away, the cottage was very homely and comfortable, we didn't need to contact the owner although numbers were provided just in case.

The location was perfect for getting to the moors and the peaks. I Would highly recommend a stay at Wren Cottage, we as a family of 6 and 3 dogs throughly enjoyed our long weekend.

What a find!

Wren Cottage was perfect. The owners had thought of everything; from face and foot masks to board games and extra batteries for the wii remotes! The bedding was the softest we have ever slept on and the welcome basket was very much appreciated. We had such a refreshing break and will definitely be returning!

This was a long-anticipated weekend away with our daughters, their partners and dogs so we were thrilled to find a beautiful cottage with everything we needed to make our reunion special.

The owners have thought of everything - including generous welcome provisions - and we all felt like we were checking into an upmarket hotel when we found our lovely bedrooms. There were lots of nice walks within a short drive, the Ram's Head farm shop was a perfect place to stock up on goodies and the local pub, The Junction Inn, was just a short walk away and a great place for drinks and pub food. The website photos really do not do full justice to this lovely property and we are already planning a return visit in the Spring. PS although we are regular Sykes customers, we actually booked this cottage via the Dog-Friendly Cottages site as it was the best way to find a property that would accommodate 3 dogs!

Everything was sparkling clean, the rooms were comfortable and the setting is gorgeous.

A lovely sized cottage for 6 people albeit we were a family of four so was even better!

- Upon arrival, the cottage was lovely and warm and welcoming. Very clean and a very pleasant surprise with the welcome pack. We could not fault the property in any way and would highly recommend this for a relaxing area to explore.

A few more mugs would have helped make better use of the dishwasher.

We had a lovely stay at Wren Cottage and also took my mother (late 80s) and my sister plus my two dogs.

We all found the beds were very comfortable, linen was good quality and good bathrooms. Just about enough seating in the lounge but not if there were more than 4 of you. Fab utility, kitchen and dining areas. For us it would have been a really perfect location if there had been a secure part of the garden BUT sadly there were a number of gaps in the fencing and there is also a pretty busy moor road (where cars drive fast just behind the property although this didn't really bother us) which meant we had to keep the dogs on their leads 100% of the time. If this was sorted we would definitely return. It's a lovely location and a nice house.

On the down side cleanliness of the kitchen utensils/crockery left a lot to be desired. Overall we had a great family holiday.

This cottage was absolutely beautiful home from home with everything to hand.

Views were stunning, location idyllic, lovely village with friendly people. A few footpaths were through farms were closed due to Covid but plenty if beautiful walks to explore x

Beautiful cottage, it had everything you could need.

The welcome basket was such a lovely touch. The beds were so comfortable and there were loads of towels. Uppermill which is close by has lots of lovely places to eat.

The location was great, well equipped cottage with a few added extras for instance hair dryers.

Also ample wood for the log burner as with previous cottages you only had one bag but NOT here! The gas BBQ was great. All in all we had a fab time and the boot room was great to have with the pooch, boots and coats

The overall cottage experience was fantastic and we had a great time.

Our last minute cancellation of another property was dealt with really quickly and effectively.

We were told this cottage was available and it was great not having to worry about refunds and paying again, Sykes managed everything behind the scenes. The cottage itself was beautiful, everything was a really high standard and so comfortable. It was equipped with everything you could need (especially in the kitchen which was perfect for us as we all love to cook). Location was also perfect for a long weekend away. We walked to the nearby pub for lunch and drove over to Dovestones Reservoir for a hike. Would highly recommend. Shame the weather wasn't better as we also spotted a huge BBQ in the lovely little garden which we would've loved to use, maybe next time!
