  • "Wells Cottage was all we hoped it would be and more."

It is beautifully decorated with a lot of thought put into what a guest, and and their family could possibly want. Lots of extras such as blankets for snuggling up on the sofa or for enjoying a cosy evening sat outside. The cottage was spotless and with every utensil you could possibly want. We stayed with our dog who was equally catered for with a dog basket, bowls and even treats. The added extras of milk, prosecco and chocolates too was very welcoming. The location is beautiful, quiet with plenty of assessable walks on the doorstep but also close enough to local pubs and a shops for convenience. We have booked and stayed in many accommodations but Wells Cottage will be up there amongst our very favourite.

  • "We had a fantastic time at Wells Cottage."

This beautiful cottage was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Everything we needed was there plus more. The only downside was that we were sad to leave as this is definitely the best cottage that we have stayed in. The views were stunning and there was such a warm and friendly atmosphere wherever we went. Wells Cottage deserves more than the limit of five stars.

Glad you had a fantastic time at Wells cottage. Thank you for lovely Review Hope you’ll be back soon. Kind Regards Janice and David Property Owner

The cottage had everything we needed, was clean, comfortable and just made for a lovely base to come back to after our busy days exploring the area. Would 100% recommend.

  • "We loved our stay!"

Cottage was probably one of the best we have stayed in with Sykes. Fabulous welcome pack, so clean and everything very high end. Views were glorious and doggies just loved the little enclosed garden. If I had to be really, really picky the only thing I would improve would be the outside seating. The little bistro sets were OK but if you wanted to sit outside for a while whilst enjoying the tremendous views they are not the most comfortable. It was a fabulous week, thank you so much.

Thank you for your lovely Review and much appreciated feedback. We have now been out and purchased some lovely outdoor throws, cushions and a couple of reclining chairs. So hopefully we’ll see you come back soon to try them out. Thank you again Janice and David Property Owner

  • "We loved Wells Cottage."

The photos and description were accurate and the arrival instructions were easy to follow. It's a beautiful tastefully decorated period cottage with well designed lounge, fully equipped kitchen, good bathrooms and comfortable beds. The owners have gone beyond expectations to thoughtfully provide everything we needed. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge, the kitchen was fully stocked; often in rented kitchens knives can be awful and there's not enough pans etc. Towels in the bedrooms were generous and full size. We loved the lights in the lounge; it felt like staying in a 5 star hotel. We had everything we needed. There was even a programme for the local folk festival and a detailed house guide. When we had questions the owners were quick to respond. The view is wonderful. The only thing I'd say for anyone who has walking difficulties is; it's a very steep walk there and back into Holmfirth or to the pub! Thank you very much for a lovely weekend.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback and review. So pleased you loved the cottage and had a lovely stay. Hope to see you visit again soon Best Wishes Janice and David Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage with fantastic views of the countryside."

Absolutely everything possible was provided by the owners. It was a little bit farther than we realised from a shop or pub but was still walkable. It might be an idea to provide a visitor Information book for visitors to comment, even if it is just for Interesting places to visit or where someone has had a good meal. We had a very enjoyable stay and really couldn't ask for more.

Thank you for your lovely review and feedback, so glad you enjoyed your stay. The book for visitors to comment in re places to visit and eaten is a good idea! Will get that sorted. Best Wishes and Hope to see you return soon Janice and David Property Owner

  • "The cottage was maintained to a high standard and fixtures and fittings well thought out, and the welcome pack was excellent and well thought out."

Very comfortable with lovely view's. Parking was off road and a good size, directions to the cottage were spot on. We are on the large side and the on-suite was difficult to use, but again kitted out to a high standard.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It sounds like you had a wonderful stay at our cottage! I'm glad to hear that you found the cottage to be at a high standard. I'm also happy to hear that our welcome pack was excellent and was well appreciated during your stay. It's great to know that the off-road parking was a good size and that the directions to the cottage were spot on.The views must have been lovely, too! Although I can understand that the on-suite may have been not what you are used too. As it is a 1800’s cottage and we have tried to make it as quirky as possible. It was well-loved by all of our previous guests. There is also an additional good size bathroom which I hope was a great benefit to your stay. We deeply care about all of our guests and put in 100% effort into making sure they have the best holiday. We hope to see you again in our cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "This cottage was so cosy and beautiful."

Everything we needed was there clearly labelled. There were some lovely touches with décor from local shops tagged that we later explored. A touch of Easter decorations made it very seasonal. The beds, blankets and fireplace made for a extremely comfortable stay. A thoroughly equipped kitchen. This would be perfect for other seasonal breaks. The area surrounding is lovely and we found lots to do with our 6 year olds. We can't wait to return and do some more walks with them as they grow. Lots of local small businesses and different food places in town. The owner was so helpful when we needed to ring for a small issue, that was sorted very smoothly.

Thank you for your lovely feed back. Glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return visits in the future Best Wishes Janice & David Property Owner

About the location

HOLMFIRTH

Peak District National Park 3 miles; Meltham 4 miles

The old traditional Pennine town of Holmfirth is situated in the heart of the beautiful Holme Valley, on the edge of the West Yorkshire Pennines. Made famous by The Last of The Summer Wine TV series, there is more to Holmfirth than Compo and Nora Batty’s stockings! The ‘Picturedrome’, the North of England’s finest live music venue attracts many famous bands and is located right in the centre of the town. The pelotons from the Tour de France 2014 and the Tour de Yorkshire have both been through this quaint Holme Valley town en route to the iconic 524 metre Holme Moss climb two miles away. It is in these hills where cycling’s triple Olympic Medalist Ed Clancy grew up. Holmfirth also has a good public swimming pool and fitness centre, parks and some super shops and restaurants. The people here are friendly, the streets are quaint and the scenery is breathtaking. The Peak District National Park with its moors, dales, forests, lakes and reservoirs is also easily accessible. The Upper Derwent Valley, home to the spectacular Ladybower and Derwent reservoirs, and where the famous 617 ‘Dambusters’ Squadron practiced the audacious bombing raid on the Ruhr valley in 1943, is only a short scenic drive away. Slightly further is Chatsworth, the stately home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and situated close to the market town of Bakewell, the home of Bakewell Puddings. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The National Coal Mining Museum, Wentworth Castle, and the Hepworth Gallery are also within short drives away and well worth a visit. For a spot of culture, Holmfirth has annual festivals with many more attractions that bring visitors back for more; such as the Folk, Arts, and Food & Drink Festivals. Also not to be missed, is Holmfirth Vineyard and Restaurant, where you can book wine tasting tours and enjoy a lovely meal in the restaurant.
