Lovely property and owners.

Perfect for two of us and our pup. The most comfy bed I've slept in for ages. So relaxing to sit in the garden when nice. Highly recommended

A beautifully presented cottage, immaculately clean and equipped with everything you would require for a relaxing holiday and complete with a very generous welcome pack.

The pretty garden is lovely and very neatly maintained. John and his family are really nice - very helpful but not intrusive. Nick and I had to smile at some of the quirky things we found in and around the cottage.

John and his family were very welcoming and accommodating hosts.

The cottage was comfortable and cosy with everything I could need and some very welcome extra treats. The garden and views are stunning and I enjoyed watching the neighbours (chickens and ponies). The cottage is perfectly situated for access to both woodland and moor walking. A perfect few days for me and my dog.

We had a wonderful few days staying at prospect cottage, only spoiled by the weather….

but even so we had a really cosy stay….relaxing, reading….we really wanted to sit out in the beautiful garden, but weather didn’t allow us…next time we will order the sunshine at the same time lol….Jon and his wife are absolutely lovely, so approachable, there if you need them but not intrusive….the nicest owners we have come across…made to feel welcome straight away…had some lovely chats…a very handy and delicious welcome pack…secure parking….it was so peaceful…a trip to hebden bridge is a must. The Alma inn a couple of minutes drive has amazing food, lovely building and allows dogs….we will certainly be booking to stay at prospect again. Thank you again Jon, hope the party goes well…can still smell the onions and leeks,

We arrived in sunshine and the owner and his family met us in their courtyard their dogs also came out to meet our dogs.

The place was full of beautiful flowers everywhere. The owner then took us to our accommodation, I new it was going to be excellent it felt like home immediately. Everything you needed to enjoy your stay was there. Unfortunately for us the weather changed and the rest of our stay we were confined to indoors but what a lovely place to be. We will visit again and I recommend the property and area to anyone wanting a quiet beautiful place to spend time with your dogs with many walks with easy access to many places to enjoy.

Beautiful cottage set in delightful countryside.

John and his family were so welcoming, friendly and very helpful, nothing was a problem. The cottage was cosy, exceptionally clean and set in relaxing, lovingly maintained gardens. John had left a welcome pack of milk, butter and homemade jam and marmalade along with tea and coffee and a lovely gesture of snacks. There were bread, croissants and crumpets in the freezer. We look forward to staying here again

We really loved the cottage, with our own little garden for the dogs, It was immaculately clean.

John the owner was so helpful and friendly, as were all the family that surrounded the cottage. We were spoiled with fabulous weather. Great scenery we looked out on to. We can recommend a lovely walk around the reservoir near by. One of the best properties we’ve stayed at.

This is a lovely little cottage and you could ask for anything from John and his family and it would not be too much trouble.

We felt very comfortable here for the week. The garden is a little gem for us and our dog Harry. We have at least 4/5 cottages a year and never had such a lovely man like John he was there if you needed him and kept out of your way you didn't. When we arrived John said the rules are ..there is no rules. This is truly a dog friendly cottage and not just dog tolerant. My partner was so pleased that they iron their bed linen this makes a bid difference.

Delightful little old cottage with lovely garden and great views of the Yorkshire countryside.

The owner John was extremely helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommend. Just one thing, the pub is about one mile away not 0.6 miles. The Old Bridge Inn in town does a fabulous Sunday lunch.

We cannot fault the accommodation or the welcome we got from the owner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage is cosy and well equipped for a much longer stay. The garden too is well maintained and truly dog friendly being fenced off from the rest of the properties. We will certainly use the cottage again.

We had a very pleasant winter break at Prospect Cottage.

A stunning location with fantastic view. The cottage was well presented and clean with everything to hand. The bed was comfortable, furnished quality linen & pillows. Heating & hot water was up to the job. There was a very generous welcome pack on arrival. It was very dog friendly with a secure garden. Thank you John.

What a wonderful cottage this is, with a fantastic outlook over the fields and dales.

Despite it being very cold when we visited (about 3 degrees C outside) the cottage was warm and cosy, and it was very easy to adjust the heating to stay on a little longer, as we had a number of lie in's. both the bed and sofa were very comfy and we enjoyed eating in the quiant dining room. Whilst the cottage is surrounded by countryside, it is only about 30 minutes outside Halifax and just a few minutes drive from Ripponden and Sowerby. It was perfectly placed for our visit and John couldn't have done more. He was so helpful and friendly.

A very warm welcome from the owner who we then didn't see again but was always there in the background if anything was needed.

The cottage was very warm and cosy and only a couple of minutes from a bus stop. We would heartily recommend this accommodation.

We seem to have had a very different experience of Prospect Cottage than other reviewers.

Positive items were that the host, who lives on site, was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. A generous welcome pack was included, a nice touch which is often not included in holiday lets post covid. The garden is small but well maintained and was secure for our dog. The heating is effective, when on, and easy to use. The bed was comfortable. Although small, the kitchen was equipped appart from the lack of an oven. There is a microwave/grill and an air fryer but it would be difficult to actually make a meal. We felt the cottage was not clean and needs a a significant upgrade. There was a general strong smell of damp. Rising damp is evident on some walls. The porch was particularly smelly, we did not leave anything in the porch and left the window open throughout our stay, which helped a little. On arrival we were informed that the bedroom ceiling had collapsed, due to heavy rain, although re-boarded was not plastered. We should have been informed before we arrived as it seems to have happened a few weeks ago. Parking is provided for one car, a large car might be a struggle. Parking is essential as the road is very narrow and not really suitable for roadside parking. Twice we experienced a strange phenomenon of a voice alarm on the smart speaker alerting to someone in the conservatory of the main house!

It would be difficult to imagine a more welcoming and helpful owners of a holiday let.

The whole ethos is how can we make your holiday better whilst not intruding. The cottage has everything you need for your stay and is comfortable and cosy. Relaxing in the beautiful garden was easy as the area is quiet and with far reaching views, the garden is also completely dog proof. There are multiple walks straight from the cottage along quiet roads , bridleways and footpaths. I had a brilliant stay and would not hesitate to book again.

A fantastic place for a relaxing week away.

The cottage has all the week's requirements supplied such as milk, tea, coffee, etc.etc. and even emergency supplies of bread in the freezer. John, the owner, is a great host and no problem is too much trouble for him. He even let me have a piece of his home-made cheese and onion pie one night. The pub is very near and lovely walking in the area although the hills are quite steep after living in Suffolk. A shame about the weather but this is England after all. Will definitely return one day, if only to return the two-pin plug adaptor which I seem to have misappropriated. Many thanks and highly recommended.

Lovely secluded private cottage with beautiful garden.

The welcome we received was amazing and lovely nice touches of crumpets, jam and eggs in the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

What a lovely place and the family are so helpful.

The cottage is quaint and so tactfully decorated with lots of individual rooms and a good sized bedroom. There is nothing to fault and also had some treats left for us, most welcoming. There is security even for our car. The garden around the cottage and in the whole area is beautiful, there are lovely places to sit and enjoy the view and peaceful atmosphere.

Could not find one thing that I needed that wasn't there and more. The whole place was spotlessly clean and all the rooms were decorated to a high standard and things of interest to look at. The garden, my dog's and my favourite place, so very beautiful and relaxing. John and family so very, very helpful and are the kindest people you could wish to meet. Cannot wait to go back again

Owners were very welcoming and helpful. Little added touches were lovely. Great location to relax and unwind and great walks very close by. Local area has everything that you need, great pubs and places to eat.

Small,but perfectly formed,the cottage is an ideal place to stay whilst exploring the area.

The hosts,John and his wife are hugely friendly and approachable,nothing was too much trouble for them.Little touches were terrific, on arrival,crumpets with home made jams,fresh milk and orange in the fridge and a freezer with pastries and bread in. We were absurdly lucky in that the weather was glorious so after our trips out,we were able to sit out and enjoy the evening sunshine. One important point to know is that my car sat nav deposited us 3 miles away from the property so use Google maps on your phone and it will take you right to the property. All in all ŵe had a wonderful 4 days and enjoyed both the cottage and the scenery and hope to return. Well done John for making us feel so welcome .

The owner John likes next door and is a very friendly guy who was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend staying at the cottage.

This is a Quirky cottage it is one room width and the rooms are in a straight line starting with the Bathroom ,Kitchen ,Lounge, dining room bedroom and toilet .

The kitchen is small with 2 hot plates and a microwave combi oven . It misses a washing machine but there would not be any room for it . The central heating is gas and there is an electric heater in the Lounge . The views are over a field with horses and there is a charming small garden at the front. The owner John was very helpfull and friendly . The cottage is hard to find as the entrance is recessed into a wall and is easy to miss look for thrust house and you are there .The roads are single track and you need to take care .

We had a wonderful time in the cottage, hunkered down in heavy snow.

John the owner was warm and welcoming, as were everyone in the surrounding cottages. We were provided with a lovely array of provisions. The cottage was small but warm and we had everything we needed. The garden was safe and enclosed for the dog. The area was beautiful. John was very considerate both to us and his former guest, liaising between us to ascertain what leeway could be made during our stays, if required, due to the tricky weather conditions. This is a place we would certainly recommend for its homeliness. We live only 30 minutes away and stayed while we were having renovations on our own home. Pity we haven't any more planned as we would love to come back here.

I can honestly say this was the best equipped and welcoming accommodation we have ever stayed at.

There was every thing one could want on arrival after a long journey, tea and coffee making facilities, and breakfast in the morning before your first shop. We were welcomed by John and his family to this lovely cottage in a beautiful location. I cannot write any negatives, there was plenty of hot water, its very cosy on a chilly night and very dog friendly. We don't usually return to a previous location, but if we were we would book here again. I will certainly recommend this lovely cottage to our friends. Thank you John and family :-)

Lovely stay, very peaceful and relaxing location.

Lovely big property We know it’s pet friendly we took our Parrots but on entering the property the smell of dogs was overwhelming in every room the sofa and carpets smelt strongly of dogs.

The kitchen sink smelt and the on -suite in bedroom toilet had a strong urine smell. The bathroom toilet had not been cleaned and when using the shower, dog hairs came out of plug hole!

Prospect cottage is the perfect base for exploring or to just relax.

We found it cosy, warm and containing everything we needed. John and his family made us feel very welcome and went the extra mile with treats on arrival and recommendations for places to eat out. Our collie dog was very happy here as were we. We would happily return and definitely recommend it as a lovely place to stay.

Prospect Cottage is a little haven away from it all.

The owners were lovely and friendly, and there was a lovely welcome pack. The home made sausage rolls straight from the oven, and home made chutney were an added bonus. The cottage is cosy and very dog friendly, and I would highly recommend it.

We were having difficulty locating the cottage so I rang the owner who guided me in , and he was waiting outside on my arrival to welcome us to the cottage.

We were given an extensive tour of the cottage and the many delights of the area pointed out to us, for which I thank you. There was a welcome package of tea, coffee, milk, orange juice, jam, biscuits and condiments. The cottage was adequately equipped for our week stay, although the combined oven, grill, and microwave baffled the cook, perhaps a copy of the instructions for it could be provided for future guests.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was lovely, it was so quiet with beautiful views, the bed was nice and comfy, we could quite happily live there.

Prospect Cottage is comfortable and has a pretty fully enclosed garden which makes it perfect for dog-owners. The owners are extremely welcoming and gave us useful tips to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Well equipped and it would be difficult to fault it. Very welcoming and generous hosts who left several food items in the fridge for our use. We enjoyed our stay very much and would thoroughly recommend it.

The accommodation itself was warm and cosy and given the poor weather was well equipped and very dog friendly with a fully enclosed garden. Lovely 1 double bedroom cottage set in the grounds of the owners house and his daughter’s house also.

Great shower, 2 bathrooms either end of the cottage. Very secure, parking space in front of the cottage behind locked double gates. Kitchen all mod cons, lovely touches, orange juice, milk etc supplied for a day or so. TV with Netflix etc, good internet service. Dog biscuits, towel & blanket. Set on top of a mountain but easily accessible roads to all areas. Weather was exceptionally bracing as late December but lovely scenery & walks around a nearby reservoir. Very welcoming owners - but said they were available to help with anything if requested but left you to own devices otherwise. Lovely people, nice dogs & lovely property.

This is a really nice cottage.

It has a really warm welcoming feeling to it and was kept to a high standard. The owner was very friendly and helpful. If you have a dog they are made to feel welcome too with dog treats, and a doggie blanket. Rural location, but it does have a bus stop/service to nearest town if you want to be able to enjoy the views

A real Yorkshire welcome and a cosy 'home from home'.

The property is comfortable and homely, not overdone and pretentious like many holiday homes. The hosts John and his family are on hand for anything you need but are never intrusive. We (and our dogs) loved the location of the cottage and the little private garden. Having local produce welcome tray and a freezer of handy things like bread buns is a fab idea, much appreciated. The place is ideally situated for great walks and visiting Yorkshire towns like Halifax.

Owner on site in case of queries. Even some dog biscuits and a dog towel supplied. Just sorry it was wet so could not enjoy the garden furniture and the beautiful views.

We have stayed a few cottages through Sykes, however we have visited prospect cottage more than once.

You will not find any better hosts than John and his family, very homely, very accommodating, very friendly and they can’t do enough for you. Always a pleasure to stay, they need a gold star ⭐️ it’s more like visiting very good friends than going away on holiday. Hope to see them all again soon. John and his family could not have done anymore to help us enjoy our stay. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us but if they could have done anything about it they would have! It is the British summer!

Had a really enjoyable three night stay at Prospect cottage whilst our home was having a new bathroom fitted.

The host John and his family were very helpful. Even allowed us to use his washing machine as my partner was not well. Cottage had Netflix but we had to use Johns daughters password as the previous visitors settings meant the films kept cutting off. would go back again when we are both feeling better

Well equipped with some lovely touches thrown in. A perfect breakaway where you can relax and explore John and his family were wonderful hosts and altogether just a great mini break for us and the dogs...

Charming cottage, lovely setting great views.

In the grounds of the owners property - though completely self contained with fully enclosed small garden which was perfect for our one dog, safely fenced all the way round. The owners were an absolute delight, could not have been more welcoming or more helpful. Two decent pubs nearby, one 15 minutes walking distance other just a bit further but 5 minutes by car. Can't say we ventured into Ripponden, seemed nice enough but high street very busy traffic wise. High tech kitchen! A great stay.

Perfect 3 night stay at this lovely cute cottage and garden.

It's a real home from home with lots of added extras. Hosts were very friendly and on hand if needed otherwise left us to enjoy the peace and quiet. Would definitely recommend and will definately be back again to explore the area more.

In all our stays in holiday cottages we have never had such a lovely host as John who couldn't do enough for us. The cottage is lovely and cosy with all the facilities you require and is very well equipped. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and very quiet and peaceful. We would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Prospect cottage was just perfect, gem of a find.

It was clean and cosy. Lovely welcome tray of goodies and crumpets. Freezer even stocked with bread/croissants if we'd wanted. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen, even an Air Fryer. The cottage was also ideally based for exploring and walking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Would definitely recommend and return in the future. Thank you John and family for making our five night break perfect.

We had a wonderful week at Prospect Cottage.

John & his wife were terrific hosts - they couldn't have been more helpful. John welcomed us on arrival & explained where to find things; the cottage was toasty warm despite low temperatures outdoors, & was very well-equipped. So many nice touches: fresh milk, crumpets & butter, tea, coffee, fruit juice & little cakes awaiting us, plus an invitation to help ourselves to bread & goodies from the freezer. And a lovely surprise: Hotel Chocolat truffles on our pillows! We found the area full of interesting places to visit, all within easy reach. A great area for walking, lots of pubs with good food: we found the Old Bridge Inn in Priest Lane, Ripponden of particular interest, with it's blue plaque claiming to be the "oldest hostelry in the whole of Yorkshire - 1307". We highly recommend their food, especially the legendary weekday lunchtime buffet! And lastly, a must for all fans of "Happy Valley" - all filming locations are in the local area.

This was an absolutely wonderful stay.

.far better than we might have hoped or expected. Our hosts were friendly, helpful and generous with their care and provision of unexpected basic provisions to help us settle in. From the word go we felt so comfortable as the cottage lacked nothing in respect to facilities and amenities. It was indeed a home from home in wonderful countryside surroundings. It was a particularly cold time when we stayed, however we remained warm and cosy. We certainly unexpectedly and unfortunately exceeded the expected propane usage, but our hosts were understanding and extremely positive in their recognition of the situation. We felt guilty, but then it had been -4° C and we had decided to stay indoors for 2 out of the 5 days simply chilling and enjoying the cottage, the brilliant sunshine and snowy vistas. All in all we had a superb stay and would highly recommend the cottage for couples and possibly their dog ... ours loved it! The enclosed garden, the secure off-road parking and general privacy and good internet was ideal. We were in need of a break and a chance to relax and that's what we achieved. We appreciated the excellent hosting and the facilities plus the little extras like the dog biscuits and blankets, the crumpets and all the general comforts that sometimes is missing during a holiday stay. Congratulations to our hosts! We just might visit again, but this time when our intended day trip ventures were open.

Absolutely fantastic two nights.

Having spent the last seven in a cottage looking after the three kids and parents over Christmas, we both needed a break and going straight home would have been a downer. This cottage provided everything we needed. Peace, quiet, NO KIDS or DAD. The owner provided us with all sorts that I have never had in a cottage before, like a freezer full of supplies such as bread. The cottage was very clean and very roomy for just us two and the pup. And even with the rain the views were still fantastic.

The cottage is beautiful and the setting is beautiful too.

From the time of booking we were made to feel welcome, even being invited to a family fireworks display.

I am currently on crutches and hosts assist me and partner unloading bags from car. Trust me with my partner a weekend involves a lot of bags. The property is set in a beautiful rural location with great views and relaxing atmosphere. The property its self was beautiful retaining some period feautures but modernised to accommodate every travelers needs. There was lots of complimentary items that had you forgotted anything would of seen you through your stay. The property was clean, comfortable and maintained to a very high standard. Even the wifi for such a rural location was very good and we had no issue at all conecting and using it. The extra touches the owner and even their family extended to us enhanced our experience and made us feel so welcome and relaxed. Anyone looking to stay in this local area would whole heartedly recommend Prospect cottage.
