  • "Lovely lodge within 20 minutes walk of Aberfeldy."

    It has everything you could possibly need. We loved to sit on the balcony with a cuppa (or wine) and watch the world go by! Some lovely walks directly from the door. Contact with the host was great and the arrival goodies very welcome. Thank you for a great stay.

  • "This lodge was perfectly appointed and had all we needed for a week near Aberfeldy."

    It was cosy and comfortable and located 15 mins from the town itself along a footpath so no concerns about having to walk along a road. It is also right next to the distillery, should you wish to visit. There is a smart TV and plenty of DVDs so you can watch a movie in the evening and a log burner was easy to use and kept the lodge warm when the temperature dipped in the evenings. My wife is currently pregnant and the bed provided an excellent comfy night of sleep. The bathroom had a brilliant shower and hot water was always available. Some supplies such as eggs, milk, bread and jam had been left which is a nice touch. My only slight criticism is that there aren’t any blinds in the downstairs and the property is quite close to the main road into Aberfeldy. So it would have been nice to be able to close some blinds in the evening, for a bit more privacy. This lodge is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area and I would happily visit again.

    Only 10 minute walk from Aberlady, with shops, restaurants and bars. Lots of walks in the area. Was ideal for us.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Strathtay Lodges."

    They are situated in a beautiful location, within easy walking distance to the amenities of Aberfeldy. We would definitely recommend a walk along the river/railway line to Grandtully and eating at The Inn. As we like to cook when we are away, we felt that the kitchen lacked smaller dishes to use in the microwave, a wooden spoon would be helpful and we could not get the tin opener to work. Although the listing said that a wood burning stove starter pack would be included, there was only a box of matches. The seating arrangement in the lounge is not particularly comfortable. During our stay there was work being completed on the roofs of all of the adjoining 10 properties and one day we had large equipment and workmen in front of our balcony/lounge. It wasn’t really conducive to a quiet peaceful morning. We wouldn’t have minded if we had been forewarned.

  • "The accommodation was very new."

    Well equipped with everything required and the place had the feel of a home , not just a rental property. It would be better to have a few microwave friendly containers in the kitchen for cooking. The access road at the entrance is steep with potholes. It was difficult to negotiate without risking damage to the car. Luckily for us, we walked out most days.

  • "We had a lovely stay in this house and we enjoyed the design and the view, it was very well furnished and had everything that we needed, the dvd's were a nice addition too."

  • "Signage to the property could be bigger."

    Road up to property very steep and not great to drive up unless you have a 4 x 4. Property itself was very nice, oven wasn't clean and a hob was still on when we arrived. Beds were very comfortable and rooms very clean. I would certainly recommend it for location and views.

    Hi Catherine. I am sorry you weren’t entirely happy with the lodge. Obviously the cooker is always cleaned after each guest but I will speak to the cleaner regarding the matter. The access is steep as the site is on a hill, but a 4X4 is definitely not needed for access. We, like most owners just have a normal car. Regards, Neil Property Owner

  • "Great cottage in a great location."

    We spent the week exploring Aberfeldy and the surrounding hills and this provides the ideal base, with the shops and restaurants of Aberfeldy just a short walk away. The furnishings and facilities at the cottage were very good, only lacking a smaller pan in the kitchen and blinds/ curtains on the stair window. Plenty of space nearby for exercising the dog and paths leading away for those longer dog walks. We would definitely stay again when we're next looking to holiday in the area

  • "Really fantastic property, beautifully decorated and perfect location."

    Really appreciated things like games and books for kids, helped entertain our 2-year old! It would have been nice to have salt and maybe cooking oil in the kitchen but these were easily purchased in Aberfeldy.

  • "Beautifully presented apartment."

    Everything is very new and very clean. Beds comfortable. The washing machine always comes in dead handy. Very quiet location- above the main road, but there's not many cars travelling in and out of Aberfeldy in the dark. Ten minutes stroll to the village shops and ten minutes walk the other way to the start of a walk up to the forest (I never saw another soul when i took the dog for off lead walks in the forest). We had a great time going to dog friendly cafes and restaurants and a peaceful cycle along cycle route 7 too..

For those warmer summer evenings, step out onto the private front decking area and admire the views over a glass of wine, the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

When the stars begin to appear overhead, retreat to one of three lovely bedrooms; a king, a twin and a single bedroom, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for the group, all boasting warm night lights and views to the infinite countryside, making it a real haven for catching your rest.

In the morning, have a soak in the large family bathroom and complete your morning routine, before you discover the local area.

Head out into the nearby town of Aberfeldy to discover all your nearest amenities, boasting an array of independent pubs, restaurants and coffee shops to cater to every pallet.

The market town of Aberfeldy stands on the River Tay amidst beautiful scenery in rural Perthshire. Famous for its association with Burns and his poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy, the bridge built for General Wade in 1733 and, more recently, The Hills of Aberfeldy by Ed Sheeran, the town is just south of Glen Lyon, known as the longest, loneliest, and loveliest glen in Scotland. There is much to attract the visitor in addition to the spectacular scenery. For example, a 10 mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as numerous paths through forest and countryside. Furthermore, Aberfeldy is on the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is an exhilarating way to enjoy the scenery and zip wiring, quad biking and bungee jumping are available in nearby Killiekrankie. Castle Menzies is a wonderful 16th century castle, now fully restored and open to visitors. Take a distillery tour at Dewar’s World of Whisky on the edge of town. Sample the many bars, restaurants and cafes in the town and explore the galleries and craft shops. Visit The Highland Chocolatier in the nearby village of Grandtully to enjoy world class chocolate created by a local master. The Scottish Crannog Centre offers a glimpse into Iron Age life and Loch Tay offers a multitude of watersports, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are on your doorstep. Within an easy hours drive there are over 30 Munros, just waiting to be 'bagged'!
