  • "Cottage is class and great location however the quality of internal furnishings is awful."

The single beds and mattresses are shocking. The upstairs double isn't great. Upstairs bathroom is massive but needs a shower with 8 guests 1 shower is not enough in my opinion I know it's been mentioned before. The livingroom sofas have had multiple repairs to middle legs (Metal original leg obviously a thing of the past and 2 plastic cabinet legs added have been screwed on atleast 4 times) and we had to repair 3 times, eventually giving up and using books for middle structure. Not capable of holding 3 average adults without collapsing. Lack of clear instructions and guidance on appliances like washing machine. Clothes dryer is on 3 legs so couldn't be used.

  • "Stayed for the Cateran Yomp."

Had everything we needed for our stay. Couple of older chairs and single beds creaking but small niggles compared with the great property. Plenty of space and a great kitchen for everyone to congregate while cooking! Great stay in a great area.

  • "This was listed as having 2 double bedrooms, which it did not."

The double upstairs on the photo on the listing is now a twin, the beds creak every time you move and are uncomfortable. At first the property appears clean but there are lots of cobwebs. The property owners have definitely gone for style over comfort in the living room as it looks amazing but the sofas are uncomfortable. The size of the house is great, however, and it has plenty of facilities. I just found it very overpriced.

  • "The property was in a great location, easy to find and within driving distance to some fantastic attractions."

The cottage was clean and spacious, however the beds were of all variable quality. The neighbour was really friendly too. Mattresses were extremely hard, especially upstairs. The description on the website said that there was one room with double bed and one twin room upstairs, however this wasnt the case. The toilet upstairs was noisy (running water) even when the toilet wasn't in use. The bath wasn't able to be used, as it appeared that there was drainage problem. Just running water to temperature and not even putting the plug in, the bath filled up and was bringing up contents from the drain. Disabled parking across the road from the cottage was helpful and made it accessible (for those thay have a blue badge) for when parking was restricted.

  • "Great cottage, exceptionally clean and with plenty of space."

There were only five of us staying but even with all rooms full there is plenty of room. We had dogs with us and they stayed in the kitchen, where there is a door to a small but adequate court yard, and then a gate to a communal bit of garden. Our dogs were comfortable and happy…as were we! We enjoyed how close it was to the town and all amenities, and it was very close to the river for a nice walk.

  • "Once again enjoyed our week at George Cottage."

It is well placed for getting around. We found the Old Cross Inn for eating out was very welcoming and we were able to take our dog in with us. The cottage itself has plenty room for all. I am sure we will be back again.

  • "A lovely place to stay."

Very clean, comfortable and cosy. Couldn’t find a tin opener, or kitchen scales, but didn’t impact on the holiday at all and the owner was contactable and very helpful regarding a couple of other hiccoughs. Would be very happy to recommend and to stay there again. The dogs were also made very welcome. Thank you for a lovely week.

About the location

BLAIRGOWRIE

Kirriemuir 12 miles; Dundee 12 miles; Perth 19 miles.

The red sandstone town of Blairgowrie is situated on the bank of the river Ericht, where it emerges from spectacular gorges in Strathmore. With good shops, great restaurants and coffee bars, it makes an excellent town to start exploring Perthshire and the beautiful Angus Glens. Surrounded by rolling fields, famed for their berries, the town is overlooked by hills and mountains, and is the main link to Scotlands largest ski centre at Glenshee. The surrounding countryside is the perfect terrain for horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and hill walking, whilst golfers are well-catered for with several excellent courses (including Rosemount) locally. Gleneagles and championship courses of Carnoustie and St Andrews are also within easy reach. Marvel at the world’s tallest beech hedge at Meikleour (600m long and 30m high), see Meigle’s collection of Pictish sculpted stones, or listen to stirring tales at Glamis Castle, the setting for Macbeth and said to be Scotlands most haunted castle! The small town of Dunkeld is also worth a visit with its historic cathedral, riverside walks, impressive trees, such as the Birnam Oak and parent Larches of Dunkeld, and the Hermitage, which offers breath-taking waterfalls. Abundant wildlife frequent the many surrounding woodlands, from red squirrels, foxes and deer to Swifts, Goldcrests and Buzzards, with breeding Ospreys seen at nearby Loch of the Lowes.
