Such a lovely house in outstanding surroundings.

Everything we could possibly need for a great stay. Thank you for the welcoming goodies. The beds were all so comfortable and the towels and linen are top notch. The house is not far from loads of things to see and do but we really enjoyed sitting outside in the lovely garden listening to the birds and even got a special visit from a red squirrel!

Cardean Mill is a stunning property in a beautiful location.

The grounds are great for exploring the outdoors. A play area with swings and slide for the small ones. A river runs next to the property and a lovely area to sit and take in the peace and tranquility. The bedrooms are all great sizes a twin on the ground floor with en suite shower room. Two double bedrooms upstairs, one with ensuite shower room and a twin bedroom. All very clean and well cared for. Lots of little touches, including some tea, coffee and sugar on arrival and some lovely Scottish fudge and Scottish shortbread. There was plenty of books available to read and some games too. The hosts were so lovely, great suggestions of nearby walks and the children enjoyed playing with their grandchildren. We had a really lovely stay at Cardean Mill and would highly recommend it as a holiday accommodation.

Great place, really enjoyed it.

The welcome pack was very appreciated. One thing to watch for is the bird scarers in the nearby fields, our dog wasn’t too happy about them.

From first seeing Cardean Mill you knew it was a lovely place to stay, we found it a very peaceful and comfortable place and also lots of wildlife , it’s well equipped, the beds you could have a lovely peaceful nights sleep, and the dogs love it too.

Plenty of room for everybody. House was nice and warm and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the lovely outdoor garden, even managed a few days dining alfresco in the sunshine.Dog walks on the doorstep. Even tried the kayak on the river!

Fantastic peaceful location, house has lots of space to move about and living room is a great family area ,the owners who are very welcoming are next door but you would never know they were there , lots to do in the area with a visit to Peel farm with lots of animals for children to see and a fantastic fish & chips shop 3 miles (Alyth) away being highlights, generally a great place for a family holiday .

Visited for a week taking in the new year.

The owners are lovely and very helpful. They are not intrusive. The cottage met our needs for the week. Beds very comfortable and ensuite a bonus. The other bedrooms upstairs were very clean and comfortable to. Main bathroom had a lovely free standing bath. The downstairs bedroom had twin beds which were very comfortable and it to had an ensuite. Large spacious lounge with adequate seating for us all, there were seven of us. Leading off of the lounge was the kitchen, not overly big but it had all the appliances including an airfryer and utensils we needed for our trip. Nice open large hallway with a Christmas tree insitu, boot rack, coat hanger. The cottage had plenty of throws and cushions. There was a complimentary basket on arrival with tea, coffee, sugar and a tin of shortbread. There was also milk and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge. a really nice touch. The cottage is in a beautiful setting near a river. We walked our dog through the woods which looped back to the cottage. We had a wonderful new year. This place would make a great base in the Summer exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you Steve and Alison for everything.

Fantastic accomodation, such a lovely setting.

Ideal for a chilled weekend with friends and within a short distance of all local amenities or larger towns. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Even managed a kayak along the river which was great fun. We would definitely return for another stay.

Loads of history with the building but modernised inside for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Well maintained gardens with walks straight out of the property. Set in countryside but close enough to shops and amenities for shopping or dining out.

we had a wonderful long weekend at Cardean Mill with the family.

The house is the perfect size for 6 adults and a child. The kitchen was well stocked and lots of cooking equipment. We cooked all our meals in the house and had everything we needing. Including a dishwasher! We used the washing machine several times too. The garden was amazing- the dog and 4 year old took full advantage. We even got to sit outside in the autumn sun. Overall the house was a great find. while the house was very clean, fresh bedding and towels, very cosy and warm and the host was amazing... The furniture in the living room could be doing with being moved and cleaned under. While retrieving toys from under the chest in the lounge it was very thick with dust/hair and debris- but this wouldn't stop us coming back or recommending the property to someone else. The little play area for the children was also great!

The property was fabulous - we all loved it.

The owners were really helpful and friendly; nothing was too much trouble. The house was truly excellent, and we'd love to visit again. There is so much to do in the area, and the kids enjoyed kayaking in the river.

Beautiful house in an idyllic setting. Really enjoyed waking up to the sunshine in the lovely garden, with the bridge as a backdrop, and enjoyed watching the heron walking up the river. Spacious house for 5 of us and our dog enjoyed all the space to run around. Loved the mill feature. Gorgeous walk through the adjoining woodland. Great base to explore the coast and mountains. Loved watching the dolphins in Montrose! Highly recommended and would definitely stay again. Thank you to the lovely owners.

Had a wonderful, comfortable week in this dream of a home.

Stephen, the host, was welcoming and on hand to answer any questions but, not intrusive. We had the house and garden to ourselves and both were pretty impressive and well maintained. The weather was amazing and nature in abundance. Thanks for a truly relaxing stay.

We loved our week staying in Cardean Mill, it is one of these rare finds you don't stumble on often.

The weather could not have been better, which was an added bonus. The walks from the door step along the river perfect and the bluebells beautiful in May. We would love to return one day, the property offered a real home from home experiance very comfortable and clean, the garden beautiful and a joy to be in. View's over the river watching the fish leap, whats not to love.

Great place.

An old mill converted into a beautiful cottage. Stunning location in countryside, with river and forest walks nearby. Very peaceful and relaxing, and also close enough to drive to various locations - Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir, Glamis Castle, Forfar. Well worth a visit.

We had a great week in this lovely house.

It's very tranquil, quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed walking the dog in the forest and the cafes in the town and we had a couple of games of golf at the local courses. All very friendly. We had a power cut during a storm and the owner came round with candles which was a nice touch. Would love to go back!

We had a very pleasant short 3 day stay at Cardean Mill.

An interesting property with a lovely view across the garden to the river. The house was warm, comfortable and beautifully clean. Everything we needed was provided. The owners are on site and are very helpful. Good space to walk the dog. Local shops are easily accessible and some excellent places for eating out are nearby. An ideal base to explore the area. Hopefully the family will be able to return for a summer holiday.

We all had a really memorable family break.

The cottage was homely, comfortable, well equipped, in a beautiful setting, and the owners could not have been more helpful. What more could you want? We would love to return at some point, and I have already given the property details to my brother. I would highly recommend your property for anyone considering booking.

This home is absolutely beautiful both inside and out.

The setting is stunning and the location is set up to explore so much of Scotland. The charm and history of this property completely stole my heart. It’s honestly such an incredible house. We stayed here with our 3 children and my Mum joined us after a couple of days. The rooms are so spacious and the convenience of two en suites and a main bathroom really worked well. The living room is perfect for space to eat, play games and socialise in the evening. I would highly recommend this stay. Thank you so much to the owners who were welcoming and kind during our stay.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting

Me and my family went to Cardean Mill for a birthday celebration and stayed for 6 nights.

It was such a lovely home and our hosts were fantastic! They were extremely friendly and gave advice on nice things to do and places to visit. The property was clean and the facilities (kitchen, bathrooms) were plentiful and clean. The property also had a variety of local activity leaflets, books and games to play. The property is also dog-friendly which is an added benefit. The walks nearby were beautiful and we even saw a variety of wildlife. Overall, it was a lovely and picturesque place to stay, and I strongly recommend it! Me and my family will definitely be returning :)

The property was amazing. The grounds and surrounding countryside was beautiful. The owners are the most lovely people. Our Guide Dogs had a blast. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. We wish we’d had more time in this fabulous spot.

Could not fault it. Everything you could need was provided for a restful self catering break. Lovely rural walks straight from the front door. We were lucky enough to see red squirrels, otters and even caught a glimpse of a beaver. Owners were so helpful and provided us with lots of useful information about the local area. Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay.

8 of us were in the property and met our needs. Had a little issue with the WiFi on the first day but quickly sorted the next morning by the owners so happy teenagers! Beds comfy and lovely surroundings, the only slightly negative point was that the shower pressure was quite low. If you are looking for a rural get away we’d definitely recommend.

We were a family of six of different ages and the house was just perfect for us.

Good location with a good walk through the forest. I would definitely recomend this accommodation. Host were very friendly.

We had a wonderful time, kids loved the freedom of exploring around the land and the forest.

The house was very clean and a beautiful welcome basket. The owners where lovely people and explained what their was to do around the local area for adults and teens Everything that we needed was on hand( maybe an iron might be useful) Though am sure if we had asked one would of been provided. We used it as a base to go and explore perthshire and taking the kids to places I went as a child. All had a great time and wood glady book again

Hosts were just lovely.

The property sits in the most beautiful setting. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Kitchen very well equipped. Truly dog friendly. Wildlife amazing. Plenty of walks. Easy 20 min walk to the village which has a little shop and hotel and bar that’s serves lovely pub grub. ( only negative was bed very hard). So sorry to mention because otherwise was a 5 star experience and couldn’t thank the kindness of the hosts enough.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Cardean Mill.

The location is idyllic. The property was perfect for a group of friends to spend quality time together . Very clean & comfortable. We arrived to a lovely wee hamper & a bottle of fizz in the fridge. Lovely walk into the wee village of Meigle & lunch in ‘Flour ‘ was very good. Perfect, attentive hosts who loaned us a torch & also some salt & pepper! Will definitely be returning.

Loved the Mill and the environment it is in.

The walks are fantastic from the doorstep. Equally you are within a short distance of Munros, Glamis, St Andrew’s and lots of great places in Perthshire. Hosts are excellent would recommend.

Superb house with everything you could need.

Owner met us on arrival and was available all week if required bu there was nothing we needed, everything worked well and we had no issues at all. Very peaceful holiday. Great chance to catch up with relatives, we had some lovely meals and walks in the local countryside. Visited nearby villages and towns for some local foods. Would visit again.

Lovely house ( mill conversion) in idyllic location.

We were made very welcome by the hosts who are lovely people plus locals very friendly with good tips for walks etc. Lots to do in the area. Great for us to spread out as a family. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back or recommend. If weather wet & cold a tumble dryer would be handy. Lots of storage space & towels a bonus! 2 of our party canoed on the river in calm conditions.

As an extended family that holiday together yearly, this has to be one of the most memorable.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the most genuinely lovely owner who couldn't do enough to make our stay the best it could possibly be. The property boasts the most incredibly beautiful garden and grounds which our children loved playing in and exploring. The owners are kind, considerate and hugely welcoming. Our children didnt want to leave! (aged 7, 5, 2 and 6 months) We would highly recommend staying at the Cardean Mill, it is a peaceful escape from reality.

Cardean Mill is a beautiful holiday cottage surrounded by lovely scenery.

Did we enjoy our stay? Yes when it came to spending time with the family. Would we return? Probably not. I would rather leave a very honest account of our stay as I think there were some aspects of it I would’ve liked to have known prior to booking. First and foremost, know that the owners live on the grounds too. The only thing separating the two properties is the old mill. Don’t get me wrong, Steve (the owner) was very welcoming and happy to answer any questions we had however, it’s a shared driveway so when they had guests over at night and we were sitting outside the front, you felt like you were on display plus when I collected the washing off the washing line they were all sitting in their conservatory which looks onto the washing line so again, you feel all eyes on you. When it comes to washing, yes there is a washing machine but there is no tumble dryer - I understand this as electricity is through the roof, but when you have six peoples clothes to dry on just one small clothes horse it can be frustrating. We were lucky that there were days the weather was kind so if you are visiting in the winter bear this in mind. The WiFi was very weak. We had four teenagers with us so I’m sure you can imagine the frustration. Yes, we weren’t there to be on phones/tablets but in the evening if we wanted to watch a movie (the dvd selection is quite dated) we had to use my sons PlayStation to log onto Netflix, however the connection would buffer a lot. The couches/chairs in the living room we found very uncomfortable so with the combination of WiFi and uncomfortable couches we spent every evening playing Uno which we do love to do so it’s not a bad thing, again I would just rather leave an honest review. The first morning we had a power cut. Living very rural ourselves we are prone to these so it was something we could get on with (although it’s awful when you are gasping for a cuppa!) but my husband had to go to the owners a couple of times (the first time no answer) to find out when we could expect it back on (they had been informed by Scottish power) so we would’ve thought they would come let us know. Steve did pop round when it came back on to check all was ok. The pub, which they say is less than a mile away only does food on a Friday and Saturday, not every night. The cottage overall was clean, but there were an awful lot of cobwebs and spiders that look like daddy long legs. My daughter is terrified of spiders so that gave her the heebie-jeebies! The kitchen window and velux on the landing were particularly bad as well as the wicker hearts hanging in rooms. My husband loves a bath, this is how he relaxes so he was ecstatic when he saw the rolltop bathtub in the main bathroom. We had two nights before said teenagers arrived so he wanted to make full use of the bathtub. Unfortunately it does not fill all the way with hot water as the water runs cold a quarter of the way up and that is without any showers being had that same day. Needless to say he was disappointed and didn’t bother trying again. The “outside play area” is literally a slide, a swing and hanging rope. Not “slides” and “swings” as quoted in the description. The gazebo is also still in the pictures but not in the garden. The scenery is beautiful. The walk through the garden is lovely and our dog was loving life. The house itself was ok, plenty of room for all of us so that was good. As I said the scenery was beautiful and the house looks stunning from the outside and is fine on the inside. Everybody looks for different things from their holiday. We did have a lovely time away, I just feel for the price we paid we expected more.

Bit of a let-down that the gazebo is still featured in the pictures but isnt there anymore!

Would be a nice feature to stay out in the gorgeous surroundings if it gets drizzley! But other than that, everthing was great! Gorgeous wee welcome pack too!

Beautiful cottage lovely and clean the only problem was the beds down stairs kept moving as mattress wasn't fixed plus the windows in bathroom had to always keep blinds closed as could see the people next door as no frosted glass apart from that was lovely

Cardean Mill is a tranquil place to stay and the house is rather special.

Lots of space, beautiful garden and great to sit out in the evening with a glass of something and watch the sunset. We look forward to a return visit.

What a lovely house and garden.

It had everything we needed and was lovely and warm. Perfect for exploring the area, lovely walks from the house or nearby. Lots of wildlife to see as well.

We had a great long weekend at the Mill with family.

The accommodation was perfect and met all the needs for our 2 year old too. The grounds of the mill are beautiful and lovely for a walk. The owners were on hand if we needed anything and showed us the Mill wheel turning which was interesting for all. We visited Pitcrocknie Restaurant locally for lunch which provided great service, food and a view plus a roaring fire to protect from the strong winds and rain outside at the time.

Cardean Mill was perfect.

We came for some relaxation and it was the perfect place. It is perfectly positioned for walks as well as sitting curled up with a book whilst looking out at the gorgeous scenery. It is fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Alison and Steve were so kind and shared some local information with us. There are loads of activities and places to go for all ages in the surrounding areas to make the holiday what you want it to be. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you for a fabulous week.

Superb location!

Cardean Mill is a wildlife lovers paradise. We watched red squirrels scurry about the garden everyday. Herons and Ospreys visited the river running alongside the Mill. There is plenty of room inside and all the facilities of home to make your stay very comfortable. Great base for exploring Angus, Perthshie and Coupar. So much to do. My granddaughter loved it so much she wanted us to move there! The hosts, Alison and Steve are very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Would highly recommend a visit to Cardean Mill.

Delightful place to stay.

Very helpful owners. Yummy treats when we arrived. Loved seeing the red squirrels in the morning; all the wildlife was amazing to be so close to. Such a good time had by all.

This is a lovely converted old mill set in beautiful grounds.

The hosts were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Bad - Rather dusty and could do with a really good dust and clean round. Cobwebs and dust practically everywhere.

The house is fantastic : spacious and as clean as a clean thing. We spent lots of time, sitting watching the water and the stars, with a glass of wine in hand. Absolutely recommend!

Setting and location perfect.

A park like garden with a flowing river, so if you want to see beavers, kingfishers and red squirrels, to name but a few “in your garden” this is the place to be. Owners very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome and very much at home.

This is a wonderfully spacious home in a safe, quiet, beautiful location.

The owners are very helpful, accomodating, supportive and generous. The dog friendliness is great and the access to the river and the lovely walks is perfect.

Cardean mill is lovely plenty of space inside, there was 7 of us. The kitchen has everything you need. The barbeque provided was made use of nearly every day due to having great weather. I don't no were to start with the garden all I can say is WOw it is huge which my dog toby made full use of playing fetch with his ball, we spent many a night sat outside, the river was brilliant as my husband & son are keen fisher men so fished most days, they only caught small fish but still enjoyed it.there was a dingy you could use which my 11 year old grandson used (with supervision). Steve & Alison were very welcoming & gave us some good information on the surrounding areas, we explored some of these witch were lovely. There are also some great walks to do. So thrilled with our cottage, inside was decorated beautifully all white linen in the bedrooms .

The owners that live next door we’re so friendly & great at giving us pointers for local things to do. It was my husbands 50 th and they even put in a bottle of Prosecco into the fridge for us arriving and brought us strawberries from the near by farm another day . Peaceful , relaxing and charming place to stay .

We had a lovely weekend at Cardean Mill.

We had 6 adults and 2 children, the property was great and easily accommodated us. It was comfy and cosy, really clean and set in the most beautiful surroundings. We loved the quirky feature of the mill wheel inside too. The owner was very attentive and popped in to see how we were doing which was nice. We look forward to coming back!

I booked this for a weekend away with family and friends for my 50th!

! It was so cosy!! We were met and shown around!! There was also a lovely welcome hamper with tea coffee shortie and tablet. And a lovely bottle of fizz chilling in the fridge. The rooms were great and comfy beds. There was a beautiful garden and a river. The views were stunning!! We walked into town to the local pub.. I would highly recommend.

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage.

Weather was mixed but we had plenty to do in and around Perthshire. We visited Glamis Castle, a distillery and the V&A museum in Dundee among other trips. Sampled lots of the food in a variety of restaurants and cafés.

This was a wonderful property with a small river running alongside offering free fishing.

Altho sad to say we didn't catch anything it was still a great pastime for the kids. The new owners, Alison and Steve, who actually took over on the very day we arrived, were brilliant. They indeed had a big inflatable canoe available for our use which again the kids found so exciting. Note the river was very clean and not too deep so with adult supervision it was not a problem. The only slight negative I would say is that it is perhaps on the more expensive side (£ 1100 for 3 nights) altho it does cater for 8 and it is in a great part of the country.
