  • "Great facility, comfortable, great views"

  • "Really lovely and clean."

Everything we needed. Got the impression the place had been well-used though. On aesthetics, there could be a bit more art, not just a couple of tiny pictures on the wall. Also there was such a beautiful view but it was hard to see anything from indoors - the way the living area is arranged and the tall balcony railings and trees obscured it. I've been spoilt on other Highland holidays when I've been able to spend the day watching the weather and the changing light out of the window on rainy days. Very comfortable though and beauty began right outside the door!

  • "What a great week staying in the wonderful MacKintosh cottage ."

As a family of 3 plus our fur baby Poppy. wWe thoroughly enjoy a very quiet switch off holiday . Loads of walking taking in the beautiful surroundings. Becoming a fishing widow was interesting hee hee, the hubby loved that time practicing his skill . The cottage was clean and comfortable everything you needed a home from home, (maybe just scissors in the kitchen) . The views were breathtaking. Great local information.

Only gave a 9 because the road from Pitlochry takes about 35 minutes. Great place to stay. Dog walk from the cottage. Various lovely Forest walks from loch side. Cottage has a fridge and freezer so stock up before you get there. Friendly, helpful owners on site.

  • "We loved our stay at Mackintosh."

The property was just as described in the advert and afforded amazing views and a great (if remote) location. We had a really fantastic family break and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a wonderful place to get away from it all.

  • "An excellent holiday thoroughly enjoyed our visit."

The cottage was clean, functional and comfortable. Lovely walk at the back of the property and the view from our balcony was spectacular. . We would recommend a visit to the Station Tea House (even out of season you need to book) and the McDonald pies from Pitlochry (available at the Country Store) were really tasty.

  • "A lovely place to stay with amazing views."

Very peaceful and quiet. There is a lovely walk out the back along a track if you have dogs with you. Our WiFi didn't work, I couldn't find any way to contact anyone about it. It wasn't the end of the world but could be frustrating for someone else. You cannot park at the complex. Again not a huge problem but a fair dash if it's raining to the car park.

  • "Great location and had a good time as a family of 4 with dog."

We travelled during Storm Gerrit and a local contact number would have been helpful for advice on getting to the cottage (only Sykes contact is given) and the kitchen could have been better equipped but only minor issues. Have recommended this location to others.

Cottage was the right size for our party of 2 adults and 2 dogs. If we were returning to the area we'd definitely consider the cottage(s) again.

  • "Absolutely loved our stay."

Gorgeous location, gorgeous property, and lovely and clean. We were lucky enough as well that there weren’t that many midges about for our stay! Only recommendation would be to inform people of opening/closing times of the local shop, as we arrived 18:30 so just missed being able to buy a few bits. I’d bought a few bits with us which tied us over, but can imagine that some people might not and then would be caught short on arrival without shop opening times. Really helpful to have all the leaflets in the property for recommendations on what to do!

  • "Lovely cottage in a remote location being about 6 miles from the nearest local shop and about 50 mins to Aberfeldy for the Co-op for a bigger shop."

Great to switch off. Beautiful view of the loch from the balcony which is nice to sit out on having coffee in the morning. Very comfortable. The kitchen was reasonably well-equipped for cooking. About 20 mins drive to Rannoch Station where there is a tearoom with lovely food and cake and trains to Fort William and Glasgow. Also walking routes from there. About 30 mins drive to the car park to climb Schiehallion.

We wanted to move to a bigger cottage. The owners said fine just sort with Sykes. Hopeless!Sykes said impossible. Would not contact owner . Just said impossible. Very irritating. Our daughter who was coming to stay had to book accommodation elsewhere. Not in the interest of the owners or us.

Thank you , we will investigate this with Sykes Property Owner

  • "We had the most perfect snowy Christmas holiday there."

The cottage was well equipped and cozy, the views were just spectacular. It was like being in a real life Bob Ross painting. It was just what we needed to get away from the busyness of life and have a rest. Thank you for a week of beautiful memories. There were lots of places that we would have liked to have explored so hopefully we will come back sometime :) We have been telling everyone how amazing it was and showing them our amazing photos :)

Beautiful views, the sunrises and sunsets were amazing. Probably wouldn't go back, but only because we have now visited most places in that area.

  • "A really lovely cottage with incredible views over Loch Rannoch."

The loch shore itself is about 5 mins walk away (300 metres?) down a gravel driveway. The cottage is one of six located on a farm (dogs should be kept on a lead) and surrounded by fields where cows are kept. The cottages are all connected to each other so you can hear the people next door a bit, but it wasn't a problem. Out one side there is a small balcony with lovely views over the loch. Out the other side is a shared garden with picnic tables and a bbq area, also with lovely views over the loch. There are some great walks just a short drive away. We didn't find any (other than down to the Loch) directly from the farm that didn't involve going along the road. The cottage itself is comfortable - a good bed (we only used the double room), warm water (though poor water pressure - a feature of rural Scotland!), and a nice living space upstairs. The kitchen is fairly small, but all as described, and well equipped. You couldn't ask for a better location, be it for swimming in the loch or paddling on it, walking in the area, or just relaxing and staring at the view.

  • "Second year in a row we have used this property."

Good to see the improvements such as redecorating since our last visit. I believe the owner has only had these properties for just over a year and is planning on other improvements, keep up the good work. We use it as a base for cycling and hillwalking, first class for both of them. Plus just sitting at the house looking at the scenery while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. If that is for you and are not bothered that when someone is having a shower that the water pressure drops in the kitchen, which can be common in the highlands, I would recommend going.

About the location

KINLOCH RANNOCH

Pitlochry 20 miles; Perth 46 miles.

Kinloch Rannoch grew from a tiny hamlet in the mid 18th century under James Small who had served in Lord Loudon’s Regiment and which consisted of discharged army soldiers and crofters who had lost their land. Roads and bridges were improved to allow ease of movement for soldiers at the nearby Rannoch Barracks. The Sleeping Giant is a hill near the village said to resemble the upper body of a man and local legend states the giant will awake upon hearing his master’s flute playing. The main activity today is tourism and Kinloch Rannoch is ideally located for walking, sailing and angling. The small market town of Aberfeldy is close by and boasts a cinema, leisure centre, restaurants and shops. The town is also the setting for scenes in the Outlander TV series. The tourist town of Pitlochry is also nearby and provides many shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre boasting a different show every night of the week.
