Wee Cottage

The Wee cottage is in a good location in Moffat.

Parking is usually available on the road outside the property. Many things in the cottage are in need of updating. The oven is a bit of a nightmare. The toaster didn't work. The lighting upstairs is horrendous. The pillows are very lumpy. The living room is comfortable . Very disappointing that the owners leave nothing - not even a pint of milk.

We really enjoyed our stay at the weekend cottage, unfortunately when we arrived no one had cleaned after last visitors, dirty towels and unmade bed greeted us, there had been a mixup and no one informed the local cleaning company who looks after the property, that we were coming.

A quick phone call and everything was taken care of, brilliant!! It is close to town centre and all shops etc. we're withing a 5 minute walk, great location, would return

On opening the front door the smell from damp wet dog would have knocked you out, cob webs and snail trail on wall near coat hooks,we immediatly cleaned and sprayed thankfully had surface wipes and room spray with us, the shower room downstairs is handy albiet small, never found the microwave but no hardship as we ate out, all in all we made the most if it however will be unlikely to return.

This is my third visit and it didn’t disappoint.

The remarks I made after my last visit had been addressed. I do think that it may be time to renew the kettle and the orange mugs otherwise everything was perfect. Hoping for a fourth visit.

The cottage is like something out of a home style magazine and a first impression is one of a beautiful place.

However there are few basics and essentials needed to improve this property. By far the most important is to improve the interior lighting especially the bedroom. The light above the dining table is too low and you bang into it by simply standing up from the chair. It would benefit from secondary double glazing to reduce noise from passing traffic and pedestrians. It needs private broadband, the available service is open and slow. 2 hand towels in both bathrooms. More coasters. Raise mirror in shower room. Replace chipped mug. Feather pillows shed feathers which stick to your sweaters (this may be a problem for asthma sufferers). Thouroughly clean wardrobe drawers (dusty at the back). Check drawers are empty - we had to throw away some brushes and combs full of hair! Easy to use instructions, particularly for oven/microwave. No idea how to use surround sound speakers or even if the are in use.

The wee cottage was beautiful.

We loved it.we had to come home a day early as my husband took ill. I will definitely book again

This cottage is superbly located in a delightful town full of life and activity.

It uses the available space exceptionally well. The mottos displayed around the cottage conveyed a sarcastic view of the world and added to an absence of welcome (eg.'Sorry if I looked interested. I’m Not' displayed prominently in the kitchen area). There was no clear information about how to access wifi but the host responded promptly to all my questions and comments.

A very pleasant spot for exploring.

Walks from the door, some a little further afield, Moffat town a busy spot. Claudio's for a tasty meal. Accommodation functional, a bit dark interior, bed and couches low and soft. Kitchen well equipped, could do with some refreshing. Clean and tidy upon arrival.

We found the property, especially, downstairs quite tired and in need of a refurb.

The wooden kitchen cabinets need replaced. Shower room also very tired. There are four small speakers for the tv(?) which were hanging off the wall and didn’t appear to work. It was really quite dark inside despite having curtains open upstairs and down. Outside table and chairs are at front of the property on a busy road which was not ideal. Unfortunately no facilities at back of the property to sit out. Sorry but wouldn’t book it again

Brillant stay in a gorgeous cottage.

The location for proximity to shops, delis and restaurants and bars is perfect and stunning local walks are accessible from the outskirts of Moffat. We will be back!

The Wee Cottage should have been 5 star as the furnishings were expensive however a few things let it down.

I arrived at 3pm and had to phone the contact as the property had not been cleaned. The cleaner chap arrived promptly & did apologise saying he had not been told it was booked again. I offered to go out while he cleaned but he said no & gave it a quick bed & towel change & a very quick clean but did not hoover downstairs or wash floors etc he was gone in 30 minutes. Upstairs has 2 bedside lamps with no main lights making it very dark & I could not actually see inside the wardrobe. There were 2 ceiling lights above the bath upstairs but they only alluminate the bath area. The walls being dark grey made it like a cave. As there was no mirror in the bedroom I had to use the makeup mirror from the bathroom and plug my hairdryer in behind a bedside table but it was so dark I could not really see anyway even with the blinds & curtains open. Simple TV instructions required - I only worked out how to find TV channels on my 3rd day & most of the other things available required logins. There was no welcome pack - in this day & age that is unusual - did not even get toilet rolls left, fortunately I took my own. Bed was comfy and towels were soft. Woodburner was situated on the wall behind a huge coffee table and you had to deal with it side on as there was no room to kneel or bend down, the firebrush was all melted and had no effect at all. Very disappointed and will not return to this cottage.

General lack of attention to detail.

The cottage was very dark with poor lighting. Stairs were lit by a sensor that turned off when only 2/3 of the way down the stairs. Scatter cushions were covered in pet hair which we didn't notice until we got up from the sofa and saw that the back of our jumpers were covered in pet hair. Very little instructions on how things worked etc. Previous guest clothes still in the drawers. On the plus side, excellent location for all amenities in the town.

We stayed at Wee cottage afew years ago under the previous owners.

It is still a lovely cottage but felt that this time it was lacking in abit of care. There werent a set of glasses just a couple of odd ones. There was no hoover which was a big issue for us in a dog friendly cottage. As the cottage is quite dark it could do with brighter bulbs not the odd orange ones in there now. Overall it is still a nice cottage in a great location just lacking some tlc

ITS A BEAUTY A lovely highly maintained Wee Cottage, Decorated to a very high standard.

Everything you may need is supplied. Smart TV WiFi etc Comfortable bed and great ensuite. Situated in an ideal location. We will look forward to a return in the future. Thankyou Venetia

My Wife and I and our dog had a 5 night stay at The Wee Cottage in Moffat 14-19 Nov.

This is a fabulous cottage for 2 people in a great location in Moffat being only 1 or 2 minutes walk from the main street. We have visited Moffatt several times before staying at the nearby Caravan and Camping Site, however this Cottage is unbeatable with regards to location. If visiting with a dog, Moffat is a very dog friendly town with pubs, coffee shops and restaurants allowing dogs.

A beautifully styled cottage in a great location.

Very cosy and wonderful with the bath in the bedroom, and the proximity lights on the stairs for a great touch. we loved our stay here and we will definitely come back. We recommend Brodie’s restaurant next door (brunch to dinner).

Lovely place to stay.

Only problem is parking as the road is very busy. We did ask permission to park around the corner which was OK.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is perfectly situated with easy access to the co-op, station park (which we loved) and the village itself. Honestly one of the friendliest (and dog friendly) places we've visited. The cottage itself was comfy and designed beautifully but for us there were a few things that could have made a good rental a great rental: extra towels, more coat hangers (& a wardrobe freshener)and a little bit more toilet roll (we usually expect to have to top the toilet roll up on a SC holiday but the paltry amount on the downstairs shower room was ridiculous). The garden was small but functional and a nice wee place to sit at any time of day. Everyone says hello as they pass by which was nice and it's a fab place to just watch the world go by. The one thing that really annoyed me, although it looked wonderful was the stair light. Very stylish but completely impractical if you have a dog as every time he wandered close to the sensor the lights go on then off then on again... I realise this is probably just a me problem but it drove me insane. An option to switch the lights on when required would have made me so happy

Wee cottage is absolutely lovely.

It has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Very tastefully decorated, loved the illuminated stairway. It’s in an ideal location with great walks from the doorstep.

We loved our stay at the Wee Cottage and Moffat is lovely.

It was a great base to explore the area. The cottage is very modern and comfortable. Loved having a bath whilst watching TV. We didn't use the washing machine or dishwasher but the kitchen had everything we needed. We decided not to bring our dog at the last minute which is a good job because the front gate is broken. Some instructions for the TV and cooker would have been helpful, plus some dustbins. But we would highly recommend the Wee Cottage for comfort, style and location and we would stay here again.

The Wee Cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything that you could possibly need for a week’s stay.

(A few more hangers would be good). Only negative comment I would make this time was that gate was off its hinges so couldn’t secure front area for dog.

The property was a lovely cosy cottage,Everything you needed was there.

Attention to detail had been lovingly thought out by the owners to make ones stay comfy. Location was amazing close to all amenities in the town and walks alike. The only thing I would mention is that the iron gate on entry was off it's hinge on arrival,left the gate open all week,we could not find any information on where to leave our recycling whilst there ,easily solved though as i put it in the one which was next door .,minor details and I would recommend our enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage to friends and family.would definitely return at some point . Absolutely loved this cottage, it had everything needed and the kitchen was fully stocked with all utensils required!

! Gorgeous location, it felt so homely I didn't want to leave! The pebble shower and bath in the room along with moisturisers in the bathrooms felt like a little touch of luxury. Bed was comfy and my favourite part is the window seat in the bedroom. Great place for a morning coffee to watch the world go by

Lovely cottage.

Beautifully dressed. Close to the centre of Moffat. Bedroom needs a brighter light so you can actually see while you’re up there! Some basic instructions for appliances would be useful instead of manuals that you just don’t want to plough through.

We loved everything about the wee cottage but would have liked more information on how to use the oven / microwave.

It was very clean and the bed was so comfortable.

Fantastic stay at the wee cottage.

Stayed last year also and didn’t disappoint Very cosy and warm with the fire and everything you need for a lovely stay. Moffat is such a great place with plenty of restaurants, shops and pubs with most being dog friendly which was ideal I would definitely recommend a stay here

Bijou accommodation which has everything you would need for a short break.

Very clean, warm and comfortable accommodation for 2 people with a wee dog. Excellent location for walks, local pubs, shops & restaurants.

Small & perfectly formed.

Beautiful luxurious cottage inside & out. Located just of main street in Moffat with lots of dog friendly pubs & restaurants. We will definitely return. Only suggestion is a welcome folder with instructions on wifi, bins, checking out etc.

The Wee Cottage is fantastic.

A lovely, quirky, compact, bijou accommodation which has everything you need inside. Surprising bedroom upstairs. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent location for walks, local pubs (Star Bar recommended) local history walk to The Well, and also a modern take on a wood fired distillery at The Moffat Distillery which a must see.

The Wee Cottage is a wonderful retreat for a singleton or a couple.

The decor is of a very high standard with everything you could possibly need and more. The bed is comfortable and the fact that you can lie in the en-suite open plan bath and watch television is the height of luxury. The downstairs shower is powerful. I’m going to steal the idea of lighting the staircase. Moffat itself is a lovely little town with a variety of restaurants, cafes and shops and the cottage is ideally placed for the Main Street and Moffat Mill. I hope to return soon.
