  • "The property itself is clean, well presented and nicely furnished."

However, it was not properly equipped or prepared for four guests, which was disappointing. The main issue was not the look of the property, but the lack of basic practical items and household provisions. The welcome pack was very minimal, consisting of a small packet of biscuits and two cupcakes. There was no hand soap, no dishwasher tablets, no washing powder, and no cleaning supplies at all. There was some washing-up liquid, but otherwise very little provided in terms of useful basics. The toilet paper provided was also very poor quality. There was an iron but no ironing board, and although there was a small washing line, there were no pegs. The kitchen equipment was also disappointing. The cookware was poor quality, with scratched pans, burnt-on food, and only one very small scratched frying pan. There were only four plates for four guests, so we had to re-wash them, and the only glasses provided were heavy goblet-style ones, with no normal everyday glasses or beakers. As a result, we had to go out and buy the missing sundries ourselves. The towels were another issue. There were 4 bath towels provided, but they did not look or smell clean, so I felt I had to wash them myself before using them. There were also no hand towels. There were no instructions for appliances or other useful information in the property. We initially could not find the Wi-Fi code and had to speak to the owner. I later saw, once logged in, that the Wi-Fi details had been sent via the Sykes messaging system on the afternoon we moved in, but this did not come through to us as an email, so it was easy to miss. It is an attractive property in a lovely setting, but it needs to be better equipped and stocked with the everyday essentials guests would reasonably expect. We have stayed in many holiday lets over the years, and this is the first time we have felt the need to leave feedback of this type. That is disappointing, because the property itself has potential, but in its current form, it falls short in terms of practical preparation and overall guest experience.

Good morning Charlotte. Thank you for the feedback, we really do appreciate feedback of all kinds, only by hearing from guests can we know what we are doing right and what needs work. Thank you for pointing things out for us, we have already started putting things in place to rectify them with hand towels, new cookware, extra crockery, cutlery, hand wash, dishwasher tablets, kitchen cleaner and an ironing board. I will also be printing out the WiFi instructions for the next visitors. I have noted the quality of the toilet paper however, and find it is absolutely acceptable, in fact we use this brand in our own household. Also, the towels are hot washed, dried and aired between each let so I'm not sure why you would think they didn't look or smell clean. As I say, thank you so much for your feedback, we really do appreciate it and are glad that overall you found it clean, well presented and nicely furnished. Property Owner

  • "Very good value, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated throughout."

A few items (eg the dining table) evidenced some wear, but for the price, the accommodation could not be faulted. We were without internet access for the last day of our stay (which also meant that the TV could not be used, even for freeview, as it had no terrestrial TV aerial) but that is the kind of thing that can easily happen when you stay in the countryside. Additional items that future guests would probably welcome: - a few dishwasher tablets (and extra cutlery and dishes to make it more worthwhile putting the dishwasher on) - handtowels and handwash in the kitchen, shower room, and bathroom - non-slip mats in the shower and bath Overall, a five star stay!

Good morning Matthew. Thank you so much for your great feedback, we are delighted you had a lovely stay. Thank you also for your notes, these will be rectified this week with dishwasher tablets, extra cutlery, crockery and glassware, hand towels and hand wash and an indoor terrestrial TV aerial. Once again thank you and we are delighted that you gave us a five star review. Hopefully we will see you again in the future. Property Owner
