    Nothing not to like.

  • "Enjoyed our stay having stayed around that area Church Stretton, Ludlow etc many times, the property’s best points are a very large comfortable bed which is always a bonus, a very clean modern property, although it says garden is enclosed its shared with the owner so if your expecting your own private garden it’s not, so it felt a bit uncomfortable, saying that they didn’t make us feel uncomfortable as we never met the owners, from when we arrived to leaving didn’t see a sole, unusual I thought not to say hello, take everything with you as nothing is provided most leave milk etc as a starter."

Over all a very comfortable stay for 2 people and a dog, close to two lovely pubs, the Long Mynd and walks lovely views.

  • "Stay was excellent."

The cottage was a perfect space for two people and a dog and had everything we needed. The only thing I would say is that the road to and from the cottage is very muddy and without paths, so getting to and from places without a car was a bit tough. It was walkable but us and the dog got filthy in the process as it was a very rainy weekend and as there are no paths, you have to stand in mud to get out of the way of cars, but this isn’t the owners issue. My only issue with the property is that the dining table is collapsible, which made it a little rocky, so we had to be cautious when using it, but that was all. Would stay again!

There was the facility to use a washing machine but were only informed on our last day by the cleaner. Found the running of the machine late at night disturbed our sleep and kept us awake due to it being below our bed.

  • "Excellent stay at a perfect property."

The property has everything you need and was ideal for a couple to escape from reality in the peace and quiet of the idyllic surroundings. Property was more spacious than it appears on the photos and was extremely comfortable. The use of the washing machine and dryer in the garage below was a massive help during a rather wet week in the hills. Views from the property were incredible and the owner was lovely.

Just a 0.6 mile walk to the village so no more than 10 mins by foot. The walk itself is enjoyable due to the surroundings. Place itself was well fitted with everything you need. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great stay. Dave and Buddy.

  • "Although accommodation is just a single room (apart from the shower and toilet room), this is more than adequate for two people and a dog."

Kitchen facilities and appliances are better than we have had at many conventional self-catering cottages and the room was clean and well-presented when we arrived. Best of all are the views, whilst the skylights in the angled roof, combined with large windows at either end, ensure that the room is never in danger of becoming dismal. We certainly plan to return.

  • "A very clean, tidy and well appointed annexe with lovely views and situated in a quiet area."

Ample crockery and cutlery for two people! Shower worked lovely and the place was always warm and cosy when we got back from a long walk. The garden was well enclosed and safe for our little dog to run around in and the owner, Sarah, was lovely and helpful. The only small gripe was we wished the two armchairs had higher backs as you cannot rest your head and relax! But that is a personal opinion. Would highly recommend this property for a base to go walking from and visiting around Shropshire as it had all the amenities you would need and was left alone to enjoy your holiday!

The autumn weather was not good but we were warm and cosy inside. I would certainly stay there again if visiting the area. Being an elderly technophobe I struggled with the tv and to make efficient use of the dishwasher a few more items of crockery/cutlery would be needed but we just resorted to old-fashioned washing up. All in all, 5 stars!

  • "Sarah has set up a lovely place for visitors to stay."

The accommodation is faultless and very well presented. The super king bed was luxurious. Both pubs in the village are highly recommended for food and drink though the lane from Gerry’s place is only a single track we decided not to walk with our four month old baby. Other places to visit include the Carding Mill Valley for spectacular scenery, Church Stretton has some lovely coffee shops and walks in Rectory woods. The Shropshire Discovery Centre was excellent with lovely walks with our dog and baby, a fantastic cafe and shop and a great museum. Stokesay castle has an amazing timber built gatehouse and Ludlow castle was worth a visit. Ludlow in itself is very beautiful as is Much Wenlock. Gerry’s place was an ideal base to explore all of this as a family. Only down side was that from the property, although very rural, there were no footpaths without having to negotiate the lane for around 0.3 of a mile, not far but not easy with an ageing dog and a young baby.

There are many dog friendly pubs nearby and walks such as Carding Mill Valley and resevoir only 2 miles away in Church Stretton. It also has Woodland walks too. • "The property is lovely and so well equipped."

Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out. The only negative is that the property is advertised as having a private garden which it doesn't. There is a wooden table and bench set overlooking the owner's house. Whilst she is a lovely person, we would have liked somewhere to sit that was private. However, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rural retreat.

  • "The owners provided an excellent living accommodation with great attention to detail with regards to cooking utensils, toiletries and linen."

The property was spotless and the super king bed a real treat. However, Sykes advertise the property as having a private garden, with a patio. The photos lead us to believe the property is in its own grounds. In reality it is 20 yards from the owners’ own home and is totally overlooked. We had to keep a blind shut at all times so that we couldn’t be overlooked. We did not have a garden, as the one adjacent to the property belongs to the owners. The “patio” is a path around the property. The owners kindly offered us the use of a field adjacent to their garden, however it was overgrown and full of rubble and at times, had sheep in it so we could not let our dog into it. On sunny days we felt “on show” if we sat outside, as the owner was sitting in her garden and we felt like we were encroaching on her space - however she at no point made us feel uncomfortable, this was just how we felt. Had we known the property was in the owners’ garden - and also on the same site as another holiday cottage - we would not have booked. We do not blame the owners at all - they did everything we could to make us welcome. Sykes; please make your listings accurate. We have tried to get in touch with you to complain, however there is no option to do so. We would like to email you accurate photos of the property and for you to explain why your listing was falsely advertising the property.

Thank you for your feedback, I am disappointed that you felt Sykes cottages brochure has misrepresented the property. I would just like to reassure that Gerry’s place is on the second floor and as such is not overlooked. The whole garden is for guests to use to walk their dogs if they wish. The area at the front of Gerry’s place is newly developed and in time the garden will mature. I have asked Sykes to amend the description to avoid any future misconceptions. Than you again for your comments. Property Owner
