Description

Telford 11.5 miles.

The Old Mill is a delightful lodge resting in Great Bolas, Shropshire, with countryside views, off-road parking for two cars, EV charging, and an enclosed decked garden beside the pond.

Sleeping four guests across two en-suite bedrooms, this beautifully renovated former mill is a wonderful choice for families, friends, or two couples seeking a rural Shropshire escape with riverside scenery all around.

Step through the front door into a generous hallway, where hardwood flooring sets a smart tone, and there is space to shrug off coats and boots after countryside walks.

A cloakroom sits close by for added convenience before the home opens into a bright kitchen, dining, and sitting area.

The kitchen is neatly arranged around a central island, with everything needed for relaxed self-catering, while the dining table seats four for sociable breakfasts and evening meals.

After supper, light the woodburning stove and gather in the sitting area for a film on the Smart TV, or open the patio doors to the decking and let the country air drift in.

Outside, the enclosed decked area has furniture and a barbecue, creating a lovely spot for alfresco dining, with the owner’s farmland, and the River Meese forming a memorable backdrop.

Upstairs, both bedrooms have their own en-suite shower rooms, each finished with a walk-in shower, rainfall head, basin, WC, and heated towel rail.

The king-size bedroom feels calm and well-appointed, while the zip/link twin can become a king-size on request, making the layout flexible for different groups.

A shop and pub can be found within easy reach, while the wider Shropshire area provides plenty of opportunities for memorable days out.

Visit Shrewsbury, one of England's finest historic market towns, where visitors can explore Shrewsbury Castle, wander through The Quarry park and its celebrated Dingle Gardens, or browse the independent shops and timber-framed buildings that characterise the town centre.

Head to Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see the world-famous Iron Bridge, discover living history at Blists Hill Victorian Town, and explore the fascinating collections housed within the Ironbridge Gorge Museums.

Alternatively, spend time in Bridgnorth, known for its dramatic hilltop setting, the historic Cliff Railway, and the remains of Bridgnorth Castle.

The town is also home to the heritage Severn Valley Railway, offering scenic journeys through the countryside.

Further afield, attractions including Weston Park and the RAF Museum Cosford add even more variety to a stay at The Old Mill.

A beautiful old Mill in a fabulous location.

The Mill itself is warm and welcoming, a cosy home away from home feeling with a bit of luxury and a lovely fire to keep you even cosier. Fab location great for visiting lots of lovely areas and towns. The hosts are lovely and friendly, and helpful if you need anything during your stay. A great week away, we will revisit.
