We had a great stay at Walkmill barn.

The location is excellent for exploring South Shropshire. The cottage is very cosy with all amenities available. There were some lovely touches from Rita who was most welcoming!

A very comfortable and cosy cottage with a really rural feel.

Well equipped with everything you need and if you are staying in the late autumn/winter I'm sure that the log burner would add even more to the ambience. Located in an incredibly beautiful part of the country with excellent walking and places to visit nearby. No review would be complete without mentioning Rita who was probably the best host we have ever had. She and her two dogs were absolutely charming.

Walk mill Barn is a lovely, well equipped cottage with a beautiful garden by a stream in picturesque surroundings.

A lovely cosy retreat for two.

It felt very private even though it is connected to the owner’s property. Rita could not have been more helpful and friendly, she was able to give us lots of local information. The welcome pack of homemade cake, milk and fresh eggs was a lovely gesture.

A wonderful place to stay for total peace and relaxation.

The barn is very comfortable and was spotless on arrival. Rita is a very warm, helpful and friendly host. The cakes, eggs and milk on arrival were much appreciated. We enjoyed exploring the garden, especially our dog Shadow and relaxing on the patio in an evening, We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would love to return one day.

Well presented barn conversion in rural Shropshire.

Off road parking. A garden to delight both gardeners and non gardeners and a warm welcome and welcome pack. We had a very comfortable stay during the recent heatwave and would like to visit again later in the year.

Rita is a friendly and welcoming host and the accommodation was comfortable and very well equipped. The quiet location was ideal for us and we hope to be able to return there in the future .

Walkmill Barn is a very lovely place to stay, in one of the most beautiful parts of the Shropshire hills -- the Long Mynd -- and close to some very attractive towns and villages.

This is a lovely place to stay.

The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need. The separate patio catches the sun all day and you can wander in the small woodland next to it. The area itself is beautiful, with lots of footpaths and excellent views of the Long Mynd. Rita is a great host - friendly and helpful.

Walkmill Barn is a delightful place to stay in a secluded area of Shropshire.

We were there as the leaves were turning and it was cozy and warm. There is a sense of peaceful isolation but it is ideally situated for visiting local towns and villages all within a short (30-45 minute) drive from Wentnor or perfect for walking in the Long Mynd area. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who is friendly and helpful with local information if it is needed. Highly recommended.

The welcome from Rita was lovely and she is a really great host.

The accommodation is beginning to show signs that it needs to be updated, whilst it has everything you need for a reasonably comfortable stay. We booked this stay primarily for the garden area, as we took our Springer spaniel with us, but unfortunately we found it to be overgrown and lacked upkeep. If you are look for a quiet escape then this property would be fine. But for us it didn't quite work.

Nice comfortable property near the Shropshire hills.

Everything we needed and the welcome gift of delicious home made brownies, jam and milk was very nice. Rita and Pip were lovely and were close by should we have needed them but were not at all intrusive. Only things to mention are that parking is tighter than we thought from the photos, and we needed to either reverse in to the property or reverse out onto the road, although it is a generally quiet road. Also, just for information, if you are taking or buying supplies 4pint packs of milk will not fit upright in the fridge door. 1 or 2pint ones are fine. We very much enjoyed our stay and we would consider booking at Walkmill Barn again if we return to Shropshire.

Straight away we felt at home in the cottage, it was cosy with some lovely quirky touches and had everything we needed. The outside space was lovely for wandering around or sitting on the patio. We could not have asked for anything more. Rita is delightful, welcoming, helpful and kind but not at all intrusive. The cottage is ideally located for sightseeing, the local pub serves good food and the nearby shop is very useful. We came away feeling we had had a really relaxing stay.

As a welcome we had tomatoes, a cucumber, cake, jam and milk.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location.

Loved exploring the long narrow garden with the river to one side, sunny patio, and beyond that lovely countryside. Great as a quiet escape or also as a base from which to visit nearby towns.

Our host Rita was so warm and welcoming, even leaving eggs milk and brownies!

, this made our short break very special. The barn is well appointed, comfortable and has everything (and more) that you need- it is a home from home and a little bit extra. The personal touches, artworks and bespoke furnishings together with quirky extras (house mouse!) make it truly special but we also loved the outside space sharing it with owls , sparrowhawks and bats. Everything has been thought of and provided in this lovely cottage.

Parking by the front door. Table and sun chairs. A truly amazing garden. Such a peaceful space. Rita is helpful and interesting with just the right amount of presence. Near if you need anything but absolutely respects privacy. I couldn’t fault a single thing or suggest anything to improve. A very enjoyable stay. Wish it could have been longer.

Staying at this cottage gave us one of the most comfortable and peaceful breaks we have had.

The garden, although a little overgrown was just great and much better being this way than 'manicured' Rita made us very welcome and the welcome pack cake was out of this world.

This holiday home was everything we hoped for our son and his dog.

The garden was absolutely incredible—huge, beautifully natural, and it led right down to the river. It was the perfect place to unwind, and our son’s dog loved having all that space to roam and relax. We were surrounded by wildlife, including hedgehogs, which made it feel even more special. The host was so friendly and welcoming, and we were touched by the thoughtful treats she left for us—homemade brownies and freshly laid eggs from her hens. It was a truly peaceful escape, and we would love to return.

The property and its grounds are gorgeous. The host is warm and welcoming. Lots of local walks in the peaceful area. We will be going back.

On arrival I was greeted by Rita.

She had provided milk, eggs and home made chocolate brownies! In addition a jar of dog treats and poo bags. Very thoughtful. A beautiful cottage with lots of welcoming touches, vase of flowers etc. Rita was the ideal host, available if needed but not intrusive. The garden was huge and amazing. Good local pubs for meals and the village shop was very well stocked with lots of home made food to buy or order. A very relaxing holiday. Certainly want yo return.

The barn has been converted beautifully into a spacious, attractive and comfortable place.

It was well equipped and Rita was a friendly and responsive host. It was lovely to sit out on the patio and walk in the little woodland. The surrounding countryside was great to walk in too.I really enjoyed staying there and hope to return.

A fantastic property and a wonderful host.

Ideally situated for the Shropshire hills and of course Ludlow and Shrewsbury for those days when the weather wasn’t suitable for roaming the beautiful countryside that the Long Wynd and surrounding hills offer. As to the property itself, Rita was a superb, friendly and helpful host of a cosy and well maintained and equipped cottage.

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet with no rushing around then this is for you, there’s a lovely pub a stones throw away and a lovely little shop opposite,If you go further the field there are some fantastic little old villages and towns with some great history would definitely recommend, Rita the owner couldn’t do enough to help you settling in 10/10

We had a very relaxing holiday, with good weather!

. The cottage was as described, cosy, comfortable and quaint. We met Rita (the owner) and Henry (woof, woof) a couple of times. She gave us ideas for the holiday and places to visit. Great welcome on arrival, complete with fresh laid eggs and home made sticky date cake, delicious. All in all excellent holiday and we would recommend it to anyone.

Rita is a lovely host providing milk fresh eggs and mouthwatering cake to set us off.

The cottage is lovely and relaxing in front of the wood burner looking at the trees with a glass of something is just what we needed.

It is cosy and clean and beautifully presented. Rita is a wonderful host, ably assisted by Henry (the wire haired Daschund, who is adorable). I would recommend Walkmill Barn to anybody looking for a quiet hideaway, it is lovely!

A super comfortable stay in this beautiful cottage.

Rita was so welcoming and friendly as was everybody we met. It was the perfect base for exploring the surrounding hills before enjoying a relaxing glass of wine in the garden.

We've had a great week here in this characterful cottage with its wonderful garden.

Many thanks, Rita, for making us feel so welcome, and the cake was a lovely treat. We have really enjoyed making friends with Henry the dachshund, and Harri Parri the cat. Beautiful cottage in lovely peaceful village.

Owner Rita and her lovely little dog made us feel at home, there if we needed anything but also aware of letting us get on with our holiday. Our dog Bert loved the garden and the nice big windows to look out of. Comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchen with good quality crockery and pans, cake and eggs with milk ready on arrival for us. I am sure this will be a success as it’s just an ideal place to stay. 2 pubs within 15 mins walk, great food and hospitality at the Inn on the green. ( book for Sunday lunch) dogs allowed in bar area, plenty of room. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to friends. Thank you Tony Claire and Bert

Lovely cottage in a stunning location.

It was very clean and had everything you could need. Lots of thoughtful additional touches such as a towel and treats for the dog as well as a good supply of dog poo bags. Would definitely visit this cottage again

Rita was a wonderful host and the cottage was charming.

Very comfortable with a large lush garden to explore with the dog. Also nearby field to throw dog a hall, little shop for basic supplies and two pubs. The nearby moors are stunning! Highly recommend!!!

Rita was an amazing host, there when needed but otherwise left you to enjoy your holiday.

She spoiled us with cake and made us and our pooch feel very welcome. She recommended us some walks and was just such a lovely host of such a lovely cottage. Thank you Rita :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Walkmill and Rita did all she could to make us feel at home and make the most of our stay.

It is a cosy cottage in beautiful Shropshire countryside and we were blest with gorgeous weather. An excellent base for exploring this quiet and interesting area.

A lovely, homely and comfortable barn conversion set in an extensive 'wilding' garden with a babbling brook.

We and our dog were very warmly welcomed and enjoyed the cake, treats and the bowl of eggs for breakfast. We would recommend The Bog, a few miles away, for walks and refreshments. The Shropshire landscape is as stunning as described by Hausman, " those blue remembered hills", although the drive over the Long Mynd is not for the faint-hearted!

The Barn is a lovely space in a beautiful setting, very peaceful and surrounded by nature.

Very well decorated with lovely finishing touches, very comfortable settee and bed, garden views from 2 sides and courtyard view the other. Upstairs area good for yoga! Kitchen very well equipped (loved the serving dishes!) but smaller that it looks on photos. Easily accessible, quick to visit places of interest and towns eg Stokesay Castle and Church Stretton. Well stocked shop 10 mins walk and 2 pubs same distance. Walks from doorstep, great access to Long Mynd and main walking routes. Property adjoins owners house which was not mentioned on listing - very useful when we needed to borrow something (!) and owners were very discreet but we did notice conversation through the adjoining door in the kitchen from time to time (no doubt they could hear us too)

Walkmill Barn exceeded our expectations.

A warm, comfortable and welcoming cottage that is perfectly situated for long walks along the Long Mynd and surrounding hills. The fresh farm eggs were a daily treat, and Rita (our hostess) provided us with a lovely homemade cake upon our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for Rita, she made sure that we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We highly recommend Walkmill Barn to anyone who wants a quiet and cosy few days away. Certainly one of the best cottage holidays we have had with Sykes. We shall return!
