  • "Not very welcoming, despite the property being listed for 6 guests originally only 5 were planned but the 6th guest was asked to leave asap & was only going to stay for 1 night."

This accommodation was half way geographically for a special occasion family get together which was ruined & very upsetting. Unable to relax as far too many rules, take off your shoes, use the back door, park your car this way only, vac when leave, to name a few, whole lists of do's & don't felt like staying at posh aunties & scared to do anything. (spent most of the holiday cleaning) If you don't mind all the rules then pleasant enough property although if you have small children I would be inclined to choose an alternative property in case they make a mess or damage anything.

Your booking & payment was for 4 adults. This had been contractual agreed with Sykes for us to provide. It was later when we spoke that you tried to introduce more members of your family, but when asked you denied until I had to keep asking for clarification. You believed it was ok for members of your family to sleep on sofa’s and over occupancy & my insurance, which protects your wellbeing be invalidated by your lack of respect. We accommodated you at no extra cost in to a larger property with additional beds to accommodate your daughter and a baby. Providing beds for everyone, cots, toys and high chair & of course an additional car parking space, now 3 cars when the listing is for 1 unless arranged. To assist you in your need to see family we made that work with little gratitude from yourself and in fact when you asked for an extra dining chair for additional guests we were still given a hostile reception. Having bent over backwards to assist you from 4 adults and accommodate your family for 5 adults and a baby you still felt the need to bring yet additional adults making it 6 when you had paid for 4, breaking your contract with Sykes. You felt it was perfectly ok to pay less but accommodate more than stated in the listing. Having provided all of the additional beds, facilities etc you still abused our hospitality. The rules? We ask that outside shoes are not worn on upstairs carpets and rubbish is disposed of in the bins. Not unreasonable. Your family appeared to enjoy your endless about of alcohol down by the stream and the walks etc enjoyed from the site. We thank you for your attempt to keep the property clean and to the standard you enjoyed when you arrived. We suggest next time you book a property that accommodates the number of guests you wish to sleep and try not to accommodate more than listed and then there would not be a need for Sykes to ask you to get additional guests to leave. This is a retaliation review by guest for not getting her own way. Property Owner
