The Gallery

Pray, allow me to record my utter astonishment at the lodging known as The Gallery.

Upon arriving in the quiet hamlet of Strefford after a grueling carriage ride, We fully expected the damp, drafts, and questionable odors standard to our glorious 18th century. Instead, I found a masterfully converted malt store that boasts comforts utterly unknown to King George himself. The timber beams are of the finest oak, and the original winding gear remains intact—a marvelous nod to industry! Most miraculous, however, was the absence of both cobwebs and the plague. Mistress Pat and Master Gary welcomed us not with the traditional bowl of gruel, but with a baked sweet-cake so extraordinarily divine I nearly accused them of witchcraft. The chamber pot arrangements (an "en-suite," as the fashionable French might call it) were remarkably clean. A triumph of modern 1740s living! I shall return, provided my horse survives the winter.

Perfect.

A warm welcome by friendly hosts. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, very clean and quiet. Everything that we needed was there, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Lovely warm accommodation and owners.

Lovely apartment which was very well equipped.

A great location for exploring south Shropshire. Cake & Apple juice along with milk, tea , coffee& sugar were a nice touch. Really enjoyed our stay.

The Gallery is a beautiful apartment.

Luxury furnishings and a well stocked kitchen. Hosts Pat and Gary are lovely and on hand if needed. Tasty bottle of apple juice and a lovely homemade cake left on the table when we arrived. Lovely quiet area well off the main road. Thank you for a lovely stay. We would definitely have a return visit.

A return visit for us and, as before, everything was lovely.

Friendly hosts, and all very comfortable, with plenty of space, a very well-equipped kitchen and a good bathroom. Off-street parking with easy access this lovely walking area. We will return again at some point, and would highly recommend.

Wonderful cottage with absolutely no complaints.

It's comfortably joint first as the best accommodation we've ever stayed in—and we've stayed in a great many over the years. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and would happily return.

A very comfortable stay at The Gallery for the two of us.

The accommodation was top rate and our hosts were friendly and helpful. A great location for exploring the Shropshire countryside and historic towns and within easy reach of West Wales.

This is a wonderful holiday let in a beautiful area.

The host were very friendly and ensured we had everything for a comfortable and cosy time. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and the space had everything needed for a lovely weekend away. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away and spend some time in nature. Couldn’t have asked for anything more :)

The cottage is in a very peaceful location to explore the Shropshire Hills and surrounding towns and villages.

The owners made us very welcome on our arrival with home pressed apple juice and a delicious chocolate brownie cake. They have also made every effort to supply everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The cottage was spotlessy clean and we would absolutely recommend The Gallery for a lovely holiday.

We’ve stayed here twice with our two young children and have found it to be such a calm, relaxing space.

We had a lovely stay at The Gallery.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped - a lovely place to spend some time unwinding. We had everything we needed and the owners were very welcoming. The cottage location is great - lovely and quiet with some walks from the doorstep, but also within easy reach of nearby towns and attractions. There was lots of useful information available about places to go and maps we could borrow for walks.

Lovely place to stay.

Great location and delighted with the hospitality, we look forward to staying here again.

A lovely place.

It had everything you needed. Beds comfy, kitchen and sitting room all in one and was really comfortable. It was in a quiet location. The owners were there if needed but left you to your own devises. Lovely area with plenty to see.

We were welcomed at the gate by Gary and Pat the owners.

The Gallery has been modified to a very high standard and still has interesting features from farming days gone by. Gary and Pat have thought of everything inside, even to a bottle of orange juice and home made cake on the table on arrival. Provided you are happy with stairs (outside and inside), we would recommend The Gallery very highly.

Great hosts, very friendly and the homemade cake was great.

The place has everything you need for your stay, towels, things for washing up, hand wash etc. Nice and quiet but you have access to lots of things to do, loved our stay.

Absolutely breathtaking apartment!

! In a very quiet, peaceful setting, with beautiful scenery, this is the perfect setting for your getaway. It's close enough to local towns and villages if you want to slip out for a meal and/or shopping, but still in its own secluded spot for that much wanted peace and quiet. The apartment itself is fully furnished, with EVERYTHING you need to make your stay perfect

Perfect.

One of, if not, the best holiday properties we have ever stayed in.

Beautiful period property, well maintained with all mod cons that you require in a beautiful setting, thoroughly enjoyed our stay - would highly recommend.

Pat & Gary will really look after you, I fab location, a fab place to stay with fab hosts

We really enjoyed our week at the Gallery.

Everything was perfect. It's such a peaceful location. We appreciated the warm welcome too. Thank you so much, Wayne & Maria

Overall this was a great place to stay.

Comfortable, well equipped and Pat and Garry were very friendly and helpful. Quality of the accommodation was very good, it was very clean and being able to sit outside enjoying the garden was fantastic. It is also well located right off the A49 and directions were good so it was easy to find. We would go back!

The Gallery was just as described by other guests.

We had a warm welcome from Pat & Gary. The apartment had everything with lots of thoughtful details it just made our stay easier. All the furnishing and decor is of a high standard. We had welcome cake and homemade apple juice which was a lovely addition. It's also super quiet, you can only hear the birds so it was very peaceful. There was parking outside and the small lane leads straight to the A49 which gets you to Ludlow and Shrewsbury in both directions! Thanks for a lovely stay we'll be back.

Very clean Stairs a bit of a pain, but they are in the description Watch your head indoors, that was also mentioned Toiletries a bonus Would recommend

Well equipped, very clean and excellent location, everything you need for a great holiday.

Pat and Gary were lovely hosts, very helpful when we needed advice about the local area and places of interest.

First class accommodation, everything you could wish for.

Lovely peaceful outside space with plenty of seating. Very helpful hosts, wouldn't hesitate to stay again

A very well equiped and cosy cottage in a quiet location.

Craven Arms is few miles away where there is a supermarket, garage, etc. where most thing can be purchased. The area is good for walking with some lovely views. I used the Cicerone guide "Hillwalking in Shropshire. Overall an excellent holiday and on my list for a future return visit.

We had a lovely holiday.

The Gallery is very comfortable and provided everything we needed.

The Gallery was a fantastic property!

It had everything you’d need, want and more! The kitchen was fully equipped, including soap, dishwasher tablets and kitchen roll. It was a fantastic surprise that the bathroom was stocked with shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and toilet tissue. Downstairs there were games and books to read. The decor was lovely and the flat was so spacious. The immediate area was very scenic and peaceful. Pat and Gary were great hosts and I was left to enjoy the apartment. If you are considering renting this lovely property, don’t hesitate! I would 100% recommend!

The Gallery is a lovely place to stay for a break in Shropshire.

It is full of character, cosy and in a quiet location. It is kept immaculate and we couldn't have felt more at home. We look forward to returning!

Loved this property.

Nice open space, with fully stocked utensils and tea. Coffee, orange juice and chocolate brownie left out for our arrival, was very welcome. Pat and Gary were lovely, and very accommodating. The big wooden pulley was stunning, and quirky. Just mind your head on it.

We really enjoyed our stay.

A fantastic location for some lovely cycle rides from the door. We thought the property was excellent value and really appreciated the quality of the sofa, bed, shower, kitchen and bedding/towels etc. Highly recommend.

This was the by far the best property we have stayed in.

Welcoming owners, clean, cosy and every little detail thought of. Fresh apple juice, chocolate brownies, milk, tea, coffee and sugar a lovely addition. Would highly recommend this property and great location to explore.

Great location and very comfortable, spacious and well equipped property.

Would definitely recommend. Thanks for the lovely cake. Hope to return someday.

By far and away the best property we have stayed in for many years.

A lot of thought has gone into fitting it out. Hosts are unobtrusive and provided a welcome pack that included delicious home made brownie. An excellent area for exploring the countryside and small towns and villages.

We had a lovely week here - the flat is clean, comfortable and better equipped than your average holiday rental and it is situated within easy reach of so many beautiful Shropshire villages and towns.

We stayed with our two young boys and found the open plan layout to be just perfect for us. We were sorry to leave the place and will definitely try to come back.

We had a fantastic week staying in the Gallery.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming and the homemade cake was much appreciated! The property was clean, cosy and full of character and the location was stunning. Would definitely recommend.

Very comfortable and well equipped property in a great , quiet location.

Owners friendly and we appreciated the welcome goodies. Great shower and comfortable settees. Mind your head if you are tall!

Warm, comfortable and quiet, everything we wanted.

A lovely first floor holiday apartment with absolutely everything we needed for a great week’s stay.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. The apartment itself is spacious, very clean, well equipped and comfortable and is situated in a quiet hamlet under Wenlock Edge, although the main road is easily accessible. Parking was no problem with an allocated space. The location is really convenient for exploring South Shropshire, North Herefordshire and the Welsh borders, with so many interesting places to visit and walks to do within a 10 minutes to half an hour’s drive. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Gallery and would highly recommend it.

The Gallery was a wonderful place to stay.

The owners were very friendly and could not do enough for us. We were greeted with home made Brownie and Apple juice which we really appreciated. The accommodation was clean well equipt and a good base to explore Shropshire. We will definitely be back again.

Very comfortable, clean and well equipped character property.

Well located to explore the Shropshire Hills AONB and surrounding towns and villages. We really enjoyed our week here and would highly recommend.

Our stay at the Gallery was absolutely fantastic!

A very peaceful location with excellent facilities and lovely owners who live on site who were very helpful. Everything was exactly as described, very clean and well maintained. The bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud! Would highly recommend this property.

This is our second visit.

The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The Gallery is very attractive and is furnished to a very high standard. An ideal base for walking and visiting interesting places. We will be returning next year.

Gary and Pat met us on arrival which was lovely the Malthouse can only described as stunning absolutely beautiful and a credit to the owners, it was spotlessly clean and was the most well equipped in the kitchen of any holiday home we have been to.

We should like thank Gary and Pat again for the goodies that were left for us on arrival. To spend Christmas here was a pleasure the lounge was decorated for Christmas which was lovely and we can truly say it was like home from home and we hope to come back in the future. Once again thank you Gary and Pat

We enjoyed our first visit to the Gallery in 2020 so much we had no hesitation in returning for a second visit.

The accommodation was every bit as good as we remembered and has been well maintained by the owners. It is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area and is very well furnished and stocked. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely stay , home from home with all the comforts .

This is a brilliant apartment for a relaxing country break.

The hosts are friendly and welcoming and seem to have thought of everything - even a delicious homemade cake on arrival. A comfortable, well-equipped base in a quiet rural position which is perfect for exploring this beautiful area. Can't fault it.

Lovely host made us feel very welcome.

Property is in good location and nice and quite. Gave us loads information about the area. we had a fantastic 3 nights stay at the cottage as a family of 4.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at The Gallery.

A very warm welcome from Pat on arrival, she gave us lots of information about the holiday let and the local area and then left us to settle in. The Gallery was gorgeous, clean and had everything you could possibly need. They had left blinds closed and provided a fan to help keep the rooms cool in the heatwave, which helped. The location is perfect with lots of walks from the door and a short drive to lots of places of interest. We tried the two pubs for evening meals recommended to us by Pat, in Little Stretton and had lovely meals in both. A very enjoyable stay in a beautiful area, in lovely accommodation, would definitely recommend.

Hosts very friendly, property clean, comfortable and very well equipped.

Property a short distance off the A49 so well connected to nearby towns and villages but a very peaceful location. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Harry and Pat made us totally welcome and where readily on hand if we needed them.

The accommodation is quite "oldy worldy" but stunningly up to date.I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday let.

The owners and property were delightful.

The Gallery was very comfortable and clean accommodation with everything there that was needed. The homemade cake was delicious.

Superb property in a peaceful location.

Everything you could want was included in the apartment. Pat and Gary are very friendly and helpful hosts. Highly recommended.

A beautifully converted property.

Very comfortable and a wonderful location. We had a great few days....

Our second stay, and The Gallery is just as good as we had remembered it.

Thank you.

We had a great stay at the gallery, Gary and Pat were very friendly and full of information about the local area.

The Gallery was comfortable well equipped and the bed was cosy. A great place to stay, we shall be back.

Just returned from a wonderful week at the Gallery.

It was perfect, very comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of recommended walks and places to eat and had left a very nice welcome pack with a delicious cake, juice and milk. There is lots of information on walks, including walk books and an OS map which are extremely useful. Thank you so much Pat and Gary . We would love to come back.

Lovely historic cosy accommodation with everything you could need.

Fantastic location. Would stay again

Absolutely fantastic place to have a holiday, the owners were really hospitable and they had everything on hand from a home made cake on arrival to games you could borrow.

Beautifully furnished and completely spotless. Would definitely return as it was so nice!

We stayed here with our 2 young children for Christmas with having a large family Christmas can be quite hectic so this year we wanted a quiet and relaxed one and we definitely got that this cottage is beautiful everything about it is perfect it had been decorated with lights all around the beams, a tree had been put up for us homemade mince pies and a chocolate cake had been made by the lovely owners.

we had quality family time playing game after game watching films we made the best Christmas dinner and that wasn’t even stressful we would definitely go back here it was faultless and such an amazing building my husband is a builder and he was just in ore of the place it’s lovely. The best Christmas thank you pat & Gary x

We first stayed here several years ago and had enjoyed it so much that we chose it for a second visit without hesitation.

The Gallery is a perfect place for two people. It is well appointed and the kitchen in particular has obviously been equipped by someone who has an intimate knowledge of cooking! What makes the accommodation even better, are the extra little touches - the tasteful welcome pack, the provision of flannels, soap, shampoo and plenty of toilet rolls in the bathroom and a hairdryer (with a plug point next to the mirror)! The only downside for us, was that there were two flights of steps to carry things up and down. Not a problem for most but for those of advancing years, it was more of a chore.

The whole experience was just what we needed.

Warm welcome was greatly appreciated as were the biscuits, cake and juices. We enjoyed our walks in the area and found the books very helpful. Hope the next visitors find their stay as enjoyable as we did.

One of the best properties we have stayed in, whether in the UK or abroad.

Superb quality conversion of an historic building. The apartment contained anything one could possibly want and the location was both rural and easy to access.

This apartment is wonderful.

. .clean, spacious and comfortable. It is in a very quiet area with easy access to walks from the door. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and have thought of everything. It was also a great welcome pack, thank you!

The property is in a small village central for all of South Shropshire attractions.

it was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owners were very attentive and helpful. We would like to return.

Really lovely accommodation with everything you can think of!

Great hosts and beautiful location. Would def recommend

Fabulous

Excellent stay in a lovely apartment in Shropshire.

Pat and Gary were very welcoming and helpful. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property.

Excellent could not be faulted both the accomodation and the hosts.

Amazing property run my amazing hosts.

Pat and Gary were the perfect hosts and their wonderful Mill was a joy to stay in. It’s peaceful and scenic and minutes from the Shropshire hills if you’re walking and Ludlow if shopping and leisure time. Would definitely recommend

Beautiful place and very welcoming couple.

Very helpful and informative with beautiful settings and facilities. Couldn't have asked for anymore.

A beautifully converted apartment, with bags of character, and a lot more space than many.

The owners told us it was done 5 years ago but it's still pretty immaculate and could have been brand new. Set in a quiet small village with walks to Wenlock Edge starting from the doorstep and the rest of the Shropshire Hills short drives. If one was being really fussy, one could note that the WiFi was a bit slow, and the freezer is in the utility room downstairs not the apartment itself. But it would be churlish to let those distract from the peaceful calm and excellent fitting out and cleanliness of this place. We are very pleased we chose it.

Had a lovely relaxing weekend in the beautiful; quiet and peaceful Gallery.

Very relaxing holiday in a home from home.

Everything you could need is provided in the well equipped kitchen and the added bonus of full caddies of tea, coffee & sugar. There is also a separate utility room for washing and drying and a freezer with 2 drawers allocated to each of the 2 apartments. Really lovely building, huge comfortable sofas, powerful hot shower. Had a lovely walk from the door to Flounders Folly on Wenlock edge and a great base for visiting Ludlow, Church Stretton & the Shropshire hills. Would thoroughly recommend just for the homemade welcome brownies

Great everything, location, apartment, hosts, lots to do within 20mins drive and perfect weather in September

Top quality accommodation, in a lovely converted mill, and excellent hosts in Gary and Pat, friendly and informative.

Ideal base for touring the Shropshire Hills and the Welsh Marshes.

The Gallery is a beautifully presented apartment, retaining many original features of the old Malthouse.

We found it to be extremely spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Outdoor seating was available in the patio garden which was a real sun trap, attracting lots of butterflies. Pat and Gary, the owner's, were very welcoming and helpful. Strefford provided us with a peaceful base from which to explore the surrounding area. An excellent choice and highly recommended.

The barn was very attractive spotlessly clean and comfortable it looked bran new and everything you could possibly want was provided

Excellent accommodation and equipped to a very high standard.

Spotlessly clean, spacious and bright throughout. Pat and Gary the hosts were warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, which included being rescued from being locked in the Park and Ride at Bridgnorth. Thank you again.

Wonderful accomomodation.

Very well and nice equipped. Courtyard und garden invite to stay. Pat and Gary are very nice and helpful. We have felt as snug as a bug in a rug. Weekend was too short. We like to come back.

The Gallery is beautifully presented and the owners, Pat and Gary were so welcoming and helpful.

Pat and Gary were very welcoming and helpful

Everything was as it was advertised.

Very good condition and facilities

The Gallery was larger than it appeared on the website, really well thought out accommodation with attention to the details that made for a lovely relaxing stay.

Highly recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous!

We loved staying at the gallery. It’s light, airy and beautifully decorated as well as being spotlessly clean. Strefford is a delightful place with lots of good walks from the doorstep. Thank you for a great stay

The Gallery is highly recommended.

Lovely location convenient for Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge and local facilities. Beautifully and comprehensively equipped and with friendly helpful owners.

Superbly appointed accommodation in beautiful area.

Highly recommended.

Well equipped & spotless accommodation.

High spec everything. We loved our stay here & would highly recommend. Hosts couldn’t have been more helpful.

The Gallery was a really lovely place to stay and ideally situated to explore the county of Shropshire.

Well placed for exploring shropshire, whether walking the hills or visiting national trust properties etc.

Lovely towns to visit too with interesting shops. We will definately be coming back to this lovely county.

Our stay at The Gallery was absolutely delightful.

We received a warm welcome from Pat and Gary, who took the time to show us how everything worked and let us know where they were if we needed anything. There was also homemade cake, teabags, coffee and milk waiting for us. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful: immaculately clean, bigger than it had appeared in photos and a gorgeous blend of modern and traditional. The kitchen and bathroom equipment seemed very new and of a very good quality. The kitchen was well stocked with high quality pots, pans and pretty much everything else you could need! The information booklet was very handy, and I felt like Pat and Gary had taken the time to think of everything a guest could want or need and cater to it. This stay was excellent value for money. The Gallery has a lovely atmosphere, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. This really is the ideal place to get away for total relaxation and I cannot recommend it highly enough. As for Sykes, the site was very easy to use and clear about what you could expect from where you were staying. The app is also a great feature!

Wonderful apartment in a lovely setting.

Great mix of modern with the grade listed features. Friendly welcome. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

The Gallery was a lovely place to stay; a thoughtful and interesting conversion of an old building which retains the best of the original features whilst providing all the comfort and convenience of modern living.

Pat and Gary were friendly and knowledgeable hosts and the area is beautiful - even on a showery day there is still plenty to see and do!

The cottage was beautiful and was in a fantastic area for walking.

The owners were very welcoming and helpful in providing information about the area.

The accommodation was absolutely stunning.

Beautifully presented, clean, spacious and comfortable. Equipped with everything you needed and more. Shropshire was superb for family time . With three children age 6 and under we found no shortage of things to do. All topped off with fabulous weather - it felt like we were in France. We will definitely be back and would love to stay at the Gallery or the Barley Store again!

It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful barn.

The architectural design is amazing, the fixtures and fittings are of the best quality - it had everything we needed and more for a one week stay. There are good walks from the door and many interesting places nearby. The owners, Pat & Gary, did everything they could to make our stay memorable and we would highly recommend this property.

We had such a lovely holiday at the Gallery.

It exceeded the pictures on the website - it was a lovely airy space with a beautiful large window looking out towards Wenlock Edge. The owners were very friendly and gave us advice of where to visit locally. There was also a nice area to sit outside and listen to the birds. A lovely relaxing holiday.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous location.

Cottage was spotless, well equipped. Everything was to a very high standard. Owners were helpful with info such as walks, shops and local pubs.

The accommodation was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and the attention to detail was outstanding.

The property is ideally located for visit to Shrewsbury and Ludlow as well as beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside.

We had a wonderful and a very relaxing stay in The Gallery, just what we were looking for.

Good base and location to visit Shropshire. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely, well equipped, beautifully presented, well located holiday property.

The hosts are onsite, very friendly and helpful, but not invasive. We loved our time in The Gallery.

The apartment was perfect for what we wanted, so clean and beautifully renovated.

The owners are such lovely people and really made us (and our 11 week old baby) most welcome.

Superb accommodation .

Good location for touring Shropshire and Welsh borders.

It's a great location and the hosts are very welcoming and friendly.

Truly excellent and stylish cottage.

One of the best holiday cottages that we've ever booked.

Gorgeous cottage, easy to find and felt like a little haven.

We both felt so very relaxed, it was exceptionally clean and tidy and we really couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Lovely owners too. Would definitely return.

We LOVED staying at the Gallery.

Upon our arrival we were completely blown away with the beauty of the property, and the location. It is even more lovely than the pictures. The property itself is tucked down a little country lane with some beautiful heritage properties around it. I would say it is the perfect place if you are looking to get away from it all. Craven Arms itself does not have much to offer, but it does have some beautiful, proper country walks and also a really nice Italian Restaurant (The White House) We had a car so we spent a couple of days exploring the surrounding areas and then just had a lazy day in. We have super fast paced lives, so switching off for us can be difficult… but it is fair to say we have come home feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The Gallery was so cozy and homely, we just felt like time had stopped. Gary and Pat the owners are lovely!!! They made us feel so welcome and even left home made cake on the side for when we arrived. It went down very nicely with a cup of tea after a long drive. If we had to be REALLY picky and give a negative… the only thing we would say was the master bedroom mattress was a little too hard for our liking. But, we still slept like babies. Overall… We highly recommend this property!

Lovely cottage, very clean and all facilities you could ever need.

The owners were very friendly and the location was stunning. Highly recommended!
