Bob the owner was brilliant. (We had a little problem With the boiler). The instructions on how to get there from Church Stretton were sketchy to say the least! Infact Bob had to come and look for us to guide us in. It may be an idea to advise people that it is miles away from nowhere? Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • "Highly recommended."

A lovely clean spacious comfortable cottage in a beautiful quiet rural location with super views. A great base for walking (including direct from the cottage) and exploring the countryside and attractions of Shropshire. It is a little off the beaten track, but that is part of it's attraction for those who appreciate it. The nearest pub (The Crown in Wentnor) was closed when we visited, but the Bridges on the other side of Adstone Hill is well worth a visit. As others have said, Bob (the owner) who lives next door is very friendly and helpful.

It is in a rural location so you need to be fit and able to walk the lovely Shropshire Countryside but the property is wonderful, well appointed and quiet. IT is a shame the pub in the village (the Crown) is closing but The Bridges (a short 30 min walk over the hill) is also very good. We will be back!

This cottage was in a perfect location for that and was one of the most spacious we have stayed in. The owner was friendly and approachable, and the cottage had everything we needed plus the welcoming goodies which was a very nice touch. If you wanted to use the car the setting was ideal to visit places like historic Ludlow where they have regular market days, you could also walk by the river and if you're lucky, as we were, watch the Kingfishers.

The Byre is always spotlessly clean, the welcome items always appreciated and the location is fantastic. If we were to be really picky, all we could suggest as an improvement would be a small shelf in the shower for toiletries. We absolutely love the remote location and both the Crown and the Bridges are superb and friendly pubs within walking distance.

Very clean and the furniture was all intaste. Bob the owner was very nice too. Lots of info on things to do and see and maps for walking. Lovely sized rooms and decorated nicely too. Open beams and windows and french doors that open from the kitchen diner onto a seating area and large gated garden. Four post bed and lovely bedding. The only niddle I had was for me the bed was quite firm but I still slept well. Plus for some people they may not like not having a dish washer. But it is only for two. On arrival we was given fruit, milk, chocolates and wine, plus there was coffee and tea and sugar. Set on a deadend road so no passing traffic. Surrounded by fields and hills the view from front and back are wonderful. Loads of walks and bird life. What more could you want

Only 2 small wine glasses which are refugees from a 1960's Berni Inn. - No WiFi for 3+ days. Owner said "Not my priority" and "I dont use it". The directions to the cottage given by Sykes were spot on and we would encourage new visitors to follow these rather than your sat nav. Sat Nav is likely to take you over the Long Mynd which is not for the faint hearted when you are just arriving. If we were to be super critical, a nice to have in the cottage would be a little bit more information regarding such domestic things as bins /recycling but we are really nit picking here.
