  • "This cottage was delightful."

    It was smaller than we thought but plenty big enough of the two of us and the dogs. We had everything we needed and the owners were on hand to help if needed. We had everything we needed for the duration of our stay. A loaf of bread, milk, some biscuits and chocolate was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend a stay there.

  • "Excellent hosts, fresh eggs, bread, biscuits etc very kind and helpful."

    We loved the accommodation, great for a couple. We recommend a simple porch would take wet muddy clothes from walks, also its good to clean dogs and leave towels etc. This would ease pressure on the living space.

  • "From the day we arrived to the day we left it was an all round great stay, its a lovely little cottage and they have provided all the convenience you will need from a toaster to a dish washer, the log burner made a welcome return from out adventures on Exmoor, I would happily stay here again, we have two spaniels and they loved the quite large field adjacent to the farm house, if I had anything to add it would be a stair gate would be a useful addition, as nobody wants dogs upstairs, so I had to put my cases at the bottom to stop them venturing up to the bedroom."

    It worked but a gate would have made things a little easier. All in all I'm sure I will go again, I'll bring my stair gate next time. Thanks for making the effort to make our stay great.

  • "Just had an amazing stay at Dove cottage."

    Thanks to the owners Cath & Mark for being wonderful hosts, they were really friendly and gave great recommendations for places to visit. The cottage was cosy and well equipped and the fresh eggs, milk, bread etc on arrival were a lovely touch. I’m looking forward to my next visit!!

  • "The cottage was very well appointed, clean and comfortable."

    The area surrounding the cottage was safe for our dog to play in off lead. Plenty of gorgeous beaches with 30 minutes travel time. Great village with a market twice a week, pack your wallet. Mark and Cath the owners were the most excellent hosts I will strongly recommend this location.

  • "Very nice cottage, comfortable and well furnished with all amenities."

    Bed is more suitable for a couple but 2 friends used to share close quarters is fine too. Quiet situation: the bird singing in the morning and evening is a delight. The walk up and down to South Molton (3.5 km) is easy on a quiet country road with slow climbing and descending. Owners very friendly, welcoming and discreet. (2 people, May 2025)

  • "Lovely little cottage."

    Compact and bijou, but with everything needed. Owners were very friendly and even provided, biscuits and eggs as a really appreciated welcoming gesture. Nice to have dog walking field right next to the cottage. Good spot on the edge of Exmoor, a drive to the coast (40-50mins) but so worth it. Unparalleled coastal scenery (highest cliffs in Britain). We'll be back.

  • "The cottage was cosy, comfortable and warm."

    We loved the field that was available for our dog to walk around. The owners were very welcoming and left a lovely welcome package. There was also a useful guide for places of interest and places our dog would be welcome. Although the weather was wet, there was a washing machine oland tumble drier available to keep the dog towels going! We has a lovely calming break and there were places nearby to charge our electric car.

  • "Beautiful, clean and comfortable cottage."

    Welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs etc was provided. We had access to a field for dog walks. The owners were friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Dove cottage it is also in a very beautiful part of Devon.

  • "Lovely place."

    Lovely owners. One suggestion which I did mention in person would be to have a stair gate available if dogs are not to be allowed upstairs. A small note in the listing about this would also be appreciated, not every dog is a stay downstairs kinda dog!

  • "Lovely cottage that had everything we needed, bed was very comfortable."

    The location is perfect for a relaxing break with very well kept grounds, our dog really enjoyed his morning and evening runs around the owners adjacent field. Lots to do close by with stunning scenery, South Molton is a short drive away with a Sainsbury’s and a great little market Thursdays and Saturdays. We’d have no hesitation recommending as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

  • "A delightful find top marks for every aspect of our holiday."

    This cottage lived up to our expectations and beyond. From the excellent welcome pack to the the friendly hosts I cannot recommend this place enough. The grounds were a joy to walk well kept but allowed to grow to support wild life in some areas. The cottage was very comfortable spotlessly clean and provided everything we needed even down to treats for Hector !

  • "From the start it made all the difference to enter a wonderfully clean property with an amazing welcome pack of bread, jam, scones, milk, eggs and more and also some treats for Fern our dog."

    Fantastic location to go out and explore North Devon as well with a local Sainsburys (open til 8 weekdays) if you needed anything else. Cath and Mark popped over initially to say hi and bye when we left, fantastic property, only problem if it was a problem was we didn’t discover the WiFi til the last night as you have to press the on button on the WiFi adaptor and hold it fir a few seconds, but games there to play if you want (don’t go the butterfly jigsaw if there fir a few days unless you are an expert)

  • "Had a lovely stay at Dove Cottage, was well located for exploring North Devon ."

    We cycled the Tarka Trail and visited other places of interest , was so nice coming back to cosy Dove Cottage to enjoy the gardens and peaceful setting . The hosts were really lovely nothing was too much trouble and the home baked scones were delicious ! Would definitely visit again . Thankyou from Derek and Suzy

The attractive market town of South Molton is known as The Gateway to Exmoor and is ideally placed in North Devon, boasting a range of shops, amenities and the award-winning Pannier market, that runs twice weekly. Being pleasantly situated not far from both coastal and inland beauty spots it will suit visitors of all tastes. In close proximity are forests, moors, rivers and coast, with churches and other buildings of historical significance. Residents find the quiet charm of the area attractive and visitors soon experience the sense of civic pride held by the locals. There is superb walking on the South West Coast Path and the North Devon beaches are varied and interesting. Visit the National Trust's Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as highlights such as Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the village of Withypool. Further afield, the resorts of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are well worth a visit, and for some of the best beaches in the country, visit Woolacombe and Saunton and Croyde.
