The property

Metcalfe House is an impressive, detached property resting in Compton Dundon, between the ancient market town of Somerton and medieval Glastonbury with its widely seen Tor, ideal for a large group or family looking for a getaway close to the Somerset Levels. With ample parking in front of the house, unload your belongings and be welcomed into the spacious hall with the stairs to the upper floors.

From here, discover the lounge, a light and airy space with a wood burning stove, where everyone can enjoy a movie marathon.

Head into the kitchen, equipped for all your culinary needs, as the chef in the party creates meals which can be enjoyed by guests in the adjacent dining room.

Relax in the light filled conservatory, with doors opening out onto the patio offering an alternative dining arrangement when the weather allows.

Enjoy the large, child-friendly garden for outdoor games and relaxation.

The property benefits from a utility room with cloakroom, making a perfect storage space for those muddy boots having taken the opportunity to explore the vicinity and the abundance of walks surrounding.

For the more competitive guests there is a games room with a pool table, ideal for an in-house holiday competition. On the ground floor you will find the first of the seven bedrooms, a welcoming king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room and an additional sitting room which can double up as a further bedroom with a sofa bed for two additional guests.

Retire upstairs to freshen up in the contemporary family bathroom where you can relax and unwind in the bath before settling down for the night.

Choose between a king-size or double with Jack and Jill style shower room, a double with its own cloakroom or a twin room.

On the second floor, you will find a further double bedroom with an additional single day bed, allowing flexibility on your sleeping arrangements and a king-size bedroom with TV and en-suite bathroom. If you can tear yourselves away from your holiday home, you can take advantage of the wide array of local attractions; visit Montacute House or the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Enjoy a day out at Clarkes Village in Street, Cheddar Gorge or visit Wookey Hole Caves, explore the history and heritage of Wells with its cathedral or try fishing at Viaduct Fishery.

A little further from the property, enjoy a game of golf at Long Sutton Golf Club.

Take a break from cooking for the evening and visit the Castlebrook Inn serving traditional pub food. Metcalfe House is within reach of several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Blackdown Hills, Mendip Hills, and Quantock Hills.

From the rear of the property there is a small caravan and camp site, and guests are welcome to wander through the grounds and access the public footpath beyond to discover some incredible sights and far reaching views across Somerset including Glastonbury Tor. For a truly memorable holiday in the beautiful Somerset countryside, choose Metcalfe House to enhance the whole experience.
