"Overall we had a pleasant stay at the property, it was in a good location & was generally clean & tidy."
Our only criticism is that there was no curtain or blinds across the front room window meaning there was little to no privacy. Considering the property is located in a particularly popular area for walkers we would suggest this be addressed as we constantly had people walking past the front of the house who could see right into the room.
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. The owner will be visiting the property at the end of the month to install a new blind and to carry out an overall check on the property following a very busy peak season.

"On arrival we were greeted buy empty bottles, wheelie bin overflowing with another dumped on the top."
When we got inside and settled we noticed that the ‘blind’ in the living room was missing, which meant we had to improvise with car rug to facilitate some form of privacy. Found the welcome file under a load of leaflets on Sunday, notified the caretaker who replied that the issues were in hand with the owners, ( in my opinion this property was not fit to be let in this condition) the caretaker responded a week later that it was to be rectified on the 22nd, unfortunately we were out for the day, told him to leave till we had gone on the Friday.
The parking is abysmal, first come first served, people with mobility problems steer clear. There was no washing machine or dishwasher as described in the amenities. The internal layout has been changed with the dining table ‘stuck’ under the spiral staircase which is dangerously positioned. There were no details regarding how to use the cooker/hob, which should have an extractor fan over the hob. The shower room was so small, no shaver outlet. The kitchen ware was such a mismatch could not close cupboard door plates to big, a small measly single teapot to brew up, managed to buy one on our travels. Would respectfully suggest investment in at least 1 socket outlet with USB ports.
Overall the lighting on the ground floor was abysmal.
The details do not show a wheelie bin, how do you expect elderly people to drag a bin up 3steps across concrete bridge and deposit the other side of the gate. A risk assessment should be carried out to these steps and handrails fitted accordingly, as should the fire exit procedure in the event of a fire on the ground floor, the bedroom windows have restrictors on them.
We have been with Sykes Cottage’s for over 6 years and this has to be the worst one we have ever been in. All in all we feel that the photographs have given a very distorted view of the accommodation and what to expect on arrival.

"Beautiful little cottage on the edge of the woods."
The beds were very comfortable ideal. Plenty of hot water and the shower was excellent.
It feels away from everything, yet just 10 mins walk and you are on the high street. It was perfect for us.

"Unfortunately we feel the spiral staircase was dangerous!"
We are just into our 60’s and found it a difficult feature to deal with.
Our dogs did not like the stairs and had to be carried up/down which lead to me sleeping on the sofa keeping the most nervous one company.
We arrived on the Friday but cut our holiday short and left on the Sunday…..
We are sorry to hear you had to cut your holiday short. We are confident the pictures show a true representation of the spiral stair case and had you had any concerns before booking we would have been more than happy to have answered these.

"Lovely location, easy directions and key collection."
Comfy beds and great shower room. Home clearly intended for 2 adults and a child - it was a huge oversight to only have 2 wine glasses. Beware that stairs are very tight and wouldn’t be suitable for those with mobility issues. Some things looking a bit tired but was clean and had most things we needed. Short walk in to Porlock Village which has all facilities.

"Cottage was compact but clean, comfortable and well equipped, in a beautiful setting and great location for exploring the area."
It was a real treat to have the bedroom window open and fall asleep each night to the sound of the stream that runs in front of the cottage.
Take care on the spiral staircase as you can accidentally catch your shoulder on the ceiling when going up.
We parked on the little dead end road across from the cottage without any issues.
The village is gorgeous and even has a dedicated fully enclosed dog exercise field which was so handy and perfect for our greyhound. Everybody we met was very friendly!

"Lovely little cottage."
It is extremely small and with no washing machine, I wouldn't want to stay for any longer than long weekend breaks which we have done twice now. But being 2 people and dogs, we found it lovely. the location is outstanding.
So pleased you enjoyed Woodedge to return, we are biased and agree the area is outstanding.

"Location of cottage is fabulous especially if you like walking and it looks very cute looking from the outside."
Small inside.
The “garden” is really just a front yard, though nice being by the stream as long as you don’t mind the complete lack of privacy.
The second bedroom is minuscule and the door can’t close because of it, the bed being in the way.
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you loved the location. The property is not advertised as having a washing machine or drier. A deep clean was carried out following an extremely busy season. The owners take the letting of Woodedge seriously and we have every confidence this will continue going forward.

"The location of the house is very good."
Very quiet. Nice walk into town and the marsh.
The size of the house is completely sufficient for 2-3 people.
Basic cleaning is necessary. The kitchen in particular needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Even in the cupboards.
Thank you for raising these issues with us, we will ensure our housekeeper attends these points on her next visit.

"It's a nice cottage but does not feel cosy."
The main bedroom is very tight fir room making it difficult to manoeuvre around the bed frame plus a heater on the window side intrudes and reduces the space to about 15cm. The shower is pointless and really unusable due to poor water pressure. The kitchen cupboards are full of equipment meaning food storage, cereals, bread etc., has no where to go. The garden is a mess and needs urgent attention. The housekeeper Adrian does not respond to calls, all rubbish bins were full when we arrived with no uptodate info on collection days.

"A very sweet cottage, not big and kitchen in living room and smaller 2nd room."
Perfect for a couple and for having a dog. We found it clean and well kept and fitted our needs. The only problem was we were not used to an electric cooker so had no idea how to work it. We were out most of the time as so much to do in the area so not much cooking was done. Sadly places to eat are very limited in the evening so make sure you book as they stop cooking by 8pm

"Setting & location perfect."
Very enjoyable visit
Directions could be a little better as we didn't really understand where the left fork was going to be and it feels like you may be going up a lane you might get stuck in. I would clarify that left fork is at a junction where straight ahead is signed dead end and that the lane opens up at the cottages
Can you make it clear that there are no toiletries, the only soap in the cottage was hand soap that had been watered down
The Washing up bowl is strange and leaks
The switches in the airing cupboard are confusing, labels would be great
The Immersion hesater could do with proper insulation
Recycling info needs updating
The shower is a bit confusing and has a display that is a bit wonky and buttons we didn't understand
A Dining table light would be useful
Not big grumbles but room for improvement
Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We have added the google pin feature, which can be used when searching Woodedge, for directions. We have since updated the property welcome book with current recycling and other information. We will look at some point to replace the immersion heater, and have taken your other comments on board, so we will look to improve further.
