"A beautiful cottage in a wonderful quiet area."
The well maintained garden were wonderful to sit out in and enjoy watching the wildlife in the fields.Saw deer, buzzards and a couple of hares.A shame the stream at the back of the garden had dried up.Wonderful walking areas for the dog and The gaggle of geese up the road is a wonderful, friendly pub.Definetly like to stay again.

"A beautiful thatch property in a good location for visiting Dorset."
The cottage is fairly remote, but only 10 miles from Sherbourne, which is a lovely town with restaurants, pubs, unique shops and supermarkets. On arrival, we had the usual tea/coffee and milk left and a packet of jammy dodgers! With no soap left in the bathrooms, not overly welcoming, it relies on the look of it and felt as though it could do with a bit of a make-over and new carpets. The bed was comfortable as were the sofas, and the garden was nice for the dog.

"Beautiful house with a fantastic large garden."
The perfect property for us and our dogs. The carpets could do with replacing as it was starting to come up at the edges. Very picturesque and quirky property just what we like. Property was clean and a great location. I have stayed in many cottages but I was a bit gutted because the only thing they left us as a welcoming gift was a pack off jammy dodgers. I've stayed at other locations cheaper than this one and they not only left bottle of wine and local produce for us but also a little doggy packs for the pups. Which made the whole experience even more better. This is not a negative experience we were very happy here however I just feel they need to put a bit more effort in what they leave there guests who have paid allot of money to stay there.

"Perfect for dog owners, chicken wire in the hedging, doors throughout cottage for air lock system so dogs aren't left access to all areas to cause mischief."
Bed was comfy, we used the bedroom downstairs for our dogs access to back door.
Sofas very comfy, lots of room to move around, key system very practical for property safety and not having to take them with us.
Though on a by road, the property is so quiet apart from birdsong, lots of visiting wildlife and birds.
We couldn't think of any improvements bar a warm lit lamp in the sitting room, but that is purely preference. We brought a lamp through from another room.
Kitchen was easy to use and clean,
Garden was amazing with the plants, visiting honey bees, our dogs loved it so much, enough space to root around, chase their flung ball and relax. It has a bench and a swing for us to sit and enjoy with them.
Fresh eggs, chicken and duck on offer, tasted delicious.
Easy access to Dorchester 20 mins, Sherborne 15mins , Weymouth 30min , Portland 40mins , Lulworth Cover 45mins.

"A lovely quiet location with wonderful gardens and from the outside the cottage looked amazing, unfortunately stepping inside, things were not so good accepting it is an older building it doesn."
T escape the fact the building is clearly suffering from damp throughout, the double glazing in the conservatory suffered with condensation within the glazing, the carpets are worn /torn, not the cottage fault but he listing of broadband /wifi needs to be clarified its very poor 4g wifi, unable to use tv in lounge as remote was not working only the unusually good weather made it an enjoyable stay unfortunately older building cost more to maintain this on eis in need of some significant updating

"This was your quintessential postcard thatched cottage and very well appointed with everything you could possibly want supplied."
It was nice and warm when we got there. the garden was very nice and all round a very positive experience. The only slight downside was that the garden was not entirely dog proof as there were a couple of areas where a mid/ large sized dog could escape into the next door field which was full of cows!

"Beautiful Garden but Cottage not up to usual "Sykes" Standard
As you enter the garden it is so lovely and if you have dogs and children it is so secure and peaceful, we all loved it."
The cottage needs some TLC. Plaster falling off wall as you enter, windows requiring painting. Carpet a little thin from hall into conservatory. The twin bedroom required the most TLC. Kitchen is well equipped and comfortable. Would have been a nice touch to have little bars of soap in the bathrooms as is usual with Sykes Cottages and also towels could have been nicer. Very peaceful area, great to have country walks and 45 minutes to the sea. Good local pubs. However, due to the poor interior in some rooms, including some worn carpet and no walk in shower, we would not stay here again.

Lovely old thatch cottage , with lovely gardens
Yes it does need some paintwork updates , but it is an old thatch cottage , the wifi and phone network was best in the conservatory which we spent each night in , always wanted to stop in a thatched cottage and had a brilliant week , as stated in the description it has a lot of different steps to watch out for but didn't spoil our stay , the heating in the conservatory was really good and we where so lucky with the weather , the gaggle of geese is a short walk away which is a lovely pub ,

"A beautiful old thatched cottage with extensive grounds."
As a rented holiday home, extremely well furnished & decorated & inkeeping with its age & style.
Well equipped kitchen.
Parking just able for two vehicles.
I have a tad of a mobility problem, & was able to handle the many differing heights of the many many steps & heights changes, but it may be a problem with others having more serious mobility problems.
It doesn't have a walk in shower.
All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

"Lovely 300 year old cottage in stunning location."
Perfect place to escape and totally relax. The listing however was incorrect on one item: the en-suite. It is listed as having a walk-in shower, it has just a bath. It does have a shower over the ground floor bath which is typical of an old property ie it is NOT a power shower. So if you love having a bath it is perfect.

"Lovely setting, very peaceful cottage."
Lovely conservatory, spent a lot of time in there. Lovely old thatched cottage very quirky inside. WiFi only worked in the conservatory and quite slow. We were on holiday so not really an issue for us.
The garden is huge and our granddaughter loved running around it and playing in it. If you walk to the pub or shop it’s on the road as no footpath. Not very busy traffic but not ideal for taking children. We had a lovely week exploring and loved the cottage.

"This was our first visit to the area and we definatley plan to return."
The cottage is very well located (just a 30 – 45 minute drive to some lovely walks and attractions, with Cerne Abbas just a 10 minute drive away), charming and well equipped. Phone signal/wifi is a bit “hit & miss”, but there was good wifi signal in the downstairs bedroom & conservatory (and for us, this was sufficient). The garden is huge & somewhat secure, although I would recommend you keep an eye your pooches as there are some gaps an ”escape artist” could possibly find. It was so tranquil and a very comfortable cottage to stay in.
We came with 2 dogs – a senior & a puppy – and we found the book on the coffee table “Dorset Dog Walks (or Ronnie’s Rambles” both useful and entertaining.
Do take the time to meet Karen in the right hand cottage opposite – she is a mine of information & a source of local venison.
We are looking forward to returning soon.

"Thatched Cottage is very old and comfortable and has all one needs for a quiet relaxing holiday in a fantastic country setting, but needs some internal TLC, the wall as you enter the cottage is breaking away (plaster?"
), in the excellent conservatory , and utility quite a few of the Double glazed windows have 'blown' spoiling the wonderful views .
Having said this the cottage is well equipped and very comfortable if you want peace and quiet this is the place for you, many eating places and country houses/parks etc all close by, or relax in the lovely gardens with chairs and cushions supplied by the owners, listening to the birds and if up early enough to see the deer walking across the fields, The owner (Karen) who lives opposite the cottage is lovely and has fresh eggs and lovely venison produce if you are not a vegetarian, Both are highly recommended as in general is the Thatched Cottage, if the time and expense allows to fix the above items could be 100% perfect .
The 5pm take over time is very late and should be brought in line with most other holiday lets, usually 3pm. (4pm at the very latest)

"What an idyllic cottage."
Spotlessly clean, comfortable sofas and beds. Every amenity you could wish for. We experienced horrible wet weather so it was great to have a porch & utility room to be able to dry the dog. The huge garden is lovely. Such a shame we didn't get the opportunity to use it much. WIFI a little sporadic but this was a minor detail. A little isolated but we knew this when we booked. Would highly recommend this chocolate box cottage.

"The cottage was lovely, set in beautiful countryside and set back from a really quiet road."
Parking was off-road. The heating system was very efficient. The conservatory was a nice place to relax and hear the sounds of the country. The Internet was available, but very limited. The garden was quite spacious, with a little stream on one edge. We saw wildlife (birds of prey feeding and a newt in the garden). We were really happy to stay there

"Property is great."
Only criticism is the very late booking in time. We had a 2 year old with us who normally eats at 5:30pm so the 5pm book in meant a lot of rushing around trying to sort out food as soon as we arrived. I believe things like this should be taken into consideration for people hiring the cottage.

"We did have a lovely stay, there are a few points to make, the WiFi is nonexistent and should not be advertised as having WiFi, people may have work to do during their break."
The step in the 1st floor double to bathroom is dangerous as it’s the same colour carpet and indistinguishable especially to people with varifocals. When everyone is planting for nature and our insect population is plummeting we found it abhorrent to find insect traps in the garden killing slowly thousands of them including bees and other pollinators. The traps attract more insects into the garden so counter productive as a deterrent, just then kills then.
