The unlimited fuel during a very wet week was much appreciated. The owners are charming & the whole site is neat, tidy & well kept. The animals are a delight to watch & feed. Hoglets is equipped with everything one could possibly need, is very tastefully decorated and is extremely warm and cosy. This was very welcome as we stayed in February when the weather was varied! Our hosts, Rebecca and Marvin, couldn't have been more friendly and assured us that they were available should we need anything. They left us a beautiful basket of goodies on arrival and introduced us to the animals they kept on their smallholding. We would have no hesitation in returning or recommending Hoglets to others. Hoglets is warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Much thought has been taken with the property to making your holiday so relaxing and one to remember. Rebecca and Marvin are wonderful hosts, so helpful and friendly yet not intrusive. Just two of us but hoglets would be wonderful for a family too with friendly Shetland ponies, sheep and pigmy goats on site. Lovely welcome basket of bread, marmalade, eggs, tea, coffee, butter, milk and a jar of Rebecca's delicious home made biscuits. What more could you possibly want. By far the best holiday cottage we have ever been to, we will definitely be visiting again. Very highly recommended. Thankyou so much Rebecca and Marvin.

  • "Only two small things were a problem."

Both my husband and I have spinal issues and we didn’t find the king bed very comfortable. Secondly, as we are older people we found that as the full handrail stopped half way up the stairs, we found the stairs rather difficult But apart from those issues we had a lovely stay. Having the log burner with unlimited fuel was fantastic and the kitchen was perfect. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Dear Gail, thank you for your feedback. Firstly, I am so sorry that you did not find the bed very comfortable, thankfully this feedback is in stark contrast to the dozens of reviews saying how comfortable the bed is! perhaps it's a case of 'there's no bed quite like home' especially if you have very specific requirements. Secondly, we have now fitted a full handrail and, given the opportunity, this simple alteration could have been made during your stay to make the stairs less difficult for your both- this was an oversight on our part and we appreciate it being brought to our attention. Best wishes, Rebecca Property Owner

The property was clean, cosy and well equipped. Its location was perfect for exploring the coast and Exmoor itself. The hosts were perfect, helpful when needed but unobtrusive at other times. The welcome pack of jams, biscuits and other essential items was the best we have ever encountered in our many years of staying in holiday properties. The wood burning stove with a plentiful supply of wood was an added bonus at this time of the year. We would not hesitate to visit this property again in the future.

Cosy, yet spacious, a very high level of cleanliness, and furnishings and equipment of good quality. Well- equipped, and even with some beautiful seasonal decorations! To make everything even more perfect, the owners are very nice. They are friendly, positive, and knowledgeable. Animal/Nature lovers, it was lovely to chat before going out to explore the area. • "Hoglets is a lovely cottage!"

We know Exmoor and the area already quite well, and stayed in always very good holiday cottages. Hoglets has been the best we've stayed at so far, and we definitely will come back. Rebecca and Marvin were always there or somehow available in case of any questions. After a week it felt like being neighbours and open for chats and conversation. Still we had our privacy, the backyard with grill and sun but windshielded helped us parents a lot to relax. Our girls (6 & 9) loved the animals and greens and were allowed to walk around freely and could even feed and groom the goats and horses. It was great the girls could have separate rooms, and also the cloak/laundry room with access to separate shower room was quite useful. The cittage was spacious but not too big, so we felt home immediately. Although we went in summer, it was a bit cold in the eveings and mornings in the first week, and it was great the heating worked and we could use the woodburner in the living room (similar to our home). In Exford, a walk of about 10min along the road, are two welcoming pubs, a Café and shops, as well as community greens with playground, and of course great walks to explore the area. Thanks a lot for making us welcome and giving us a much needed wonderful holiday stay.

They have worked really hard in the short time they have been there to create a lovely peaceful place to stay. Their Shetland ponies, goats and sheep are so calm and, with Marvin's permission, we were allowed to go in the paddock with them. Exford is a really good base for visiting all the local attractions - we went to Exmoor Zoo, Dunster Castle, Cleeve Abbey, Lynton & Lynmouth and Porlock Weir (which has a lovely café). We slept very well in the big bed and the shower was excellent. We loved sitting outside in the sheltered back garden in the evening and meeting the owners' Shetland ponies. The swallows, swifts and house martins nesting under the eaves were the icing on the cake! The location is good for walking from the door and short trips by car to the lovely coast, local villages, towns and beauty spots. We particularly enjoyed walking from the door to Dunkery Beacon. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great tips for places to visit, good walks and nice cafés. Their recommendation of a walk to the pretty villages of Bossington, Allerford and Selworthy with lunch in the café and then back along the ridge with views of the coast was a real highlight. Coastal excursions included a day in Lynton and Lynmouth with a walk along the dramatic Valley of the Rocks – keep an eye out for the feral goats! We were spoilt for choice with local walks but can recommend Tarr Steps as well as Dunkery Beacon where we were rewarded with views across to South Wales. We’d recommend the tea room in Withypool for a delicious cream tea. It was only a short walk into Exford for a drink on the terrace next to the river at The White Horse pub or to pick up some supplies at the well-stocked village store. Rebecca and Marvin have created a luxurious haven in a peaceful location which is a delight to return to after a day spent exploring the local area – especially when relaxing with a cup of Exmoor tea and a shortbread biscuit from the welcome hamper. The property

Nestled in the heart of the Exmoor National Park within walking distance of the picturesque village of Exford lies the charming and unique Hoglets Cottage.

The property has undergone extensive refurbishment and is brought to the market for the first time this year by seasoned hosts with over 14 years’ experience in holiday accommodation.

Hoglets Cottage was originally a detached 19th Century barn which has been converted & extended to create a spacious property that combines character and modern facilities in equal measure, the best of both worlds.

The hosts pride themselves on wanting to provide you with a great holiday home.

After moving from the South Downs to Exmoor they are still adapting to this incredible landscape themselves and look forward to you enjoying this little piece of heaven too!

Sleeping up to four guests, Hoglets can be found through a five-bar gate at the end of a bridle way, with ample parking adjacent to the cottage.

This characterful cottage is full of interesting features and as you head inside you will be greeted by a fabulous, well equipped kitchen diner perfect for successful self-catering.

Continue through to the comfortable sitting room with log burner, smart tv and patio door to the private garden.

Also on the ground floor is a spacious utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, space for coats & boots and a modern shower room.

Stairs lead up from the sitting room to three bedrooms.

The master bedroom has a king size bed with far-reaching views, and along the landing there are two single bedrooms – all the beds have exceptional quality mattresses and bedding to ensure a good night’s sleep.

The vaulted family bathroom is furnished with a roll top bath and beamed ceiling.

Outside there is a beautifully landscaped, private garden with patio, furniture & BBQ and steps leading to the three-acre gated and fenced paddock – take some refreshment & a picnic blanket, walk to the top and enjoy the breath-taking views, abundant flora and fauna including swallows & house martins, wait until dusk and you might even catch a glimpse of a hedgehog!

Stay until nightfall and immerse yourself in a truly dark night sky.

Hoglets Cottage is perfectly placed as a base to enjoy all this beautiful National Park has to offer – from moors to woodland, rivers and coastline, valleys, and peaks – all spectacular and completely unspoilt.
