Lime Kiln Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at Lime Kiln Cottage.

From the moment we arrived we felt a sense of calm. Catherine and Ciarán were brilliant hosts. The cottage is really well though out, clean and cosy. Lovely views and good location for exploring the area. Would happily stay again!

The cottage is very comfortable with some lovely touches; the handmade bed frame and soft furnishings, the Baavet duvet, the stained glass window and vintage furniture.

Plus you have ducks and geese outside the front door and sheep around the back. Unfortunately, after about 4 days the quirkiness turned to pure irritation. Where to start? The depression for the walk in shower doesn't extend far enough so you end up with a lake on the bathroom floor that has to be mopped up every morning. A full-sized dishwasher has been provided but insufficient crockery etc to fill it so you end up washing up anyway (in a Belfast sink with no washing up bowl, I broke a mug I'd brought with me). Plus there's no pedal bin in the kitchen, only a small metal bin in a cupboard. Then there's the other basics that are missing like a toilet brush or baking trays. Worse of all, there was a very strong smell of oil upstairs emanating from the boiler in the utility room. First thing in the morning we had to open all the windows and do the same when we returned in an evening. Thankfully it was June. I could go on (stained duvet cover, holes in the sheets), put you get the picture.

Lime Kiln Cottage was a little gem of a stay, from the warm welcome we received on arrival to the final goodbye.

We were appreciative of the thoughtful touches provided the host - freshly baked bread, flowers, even a hot water to warm the bed. The property was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. It had all we needed to make our break as relaxed and easy as possible. The location was quiet, yet very handy for exploring the coast, Cardiff and the towns around. We were so pleased to have discovered Lime Kiln Cottage.

Very comfortable and well appointed, there is everything you need for a stay. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. One bonus were the animals (sheep, goats and horses that wandered around in the field outside. There is plenty to see and do within a 30 minute drive. We visited Cardiff Bay, The Royal Mint and some coastline. We highly recommend the cottage.

! Feels so much like home & was all decorated for Christmas. Such a lovely relaxing place & the hosts go above and beyond we love it and didn’t want to leave. Will be back next year!

We left feeling refreshed and so grateful for such wonderful hospitality. Truly a special place run by truly special people. We can’t wait to return!

Lime Kiln Cottage is comfortable and well equipped, it has everything you need plus just the right amount of quirkiness in the furnishings.

It is such a peaceful location and yet only a few minutes drive from shops, pubs and other entertainment if you want it. We enjoyed walking and visiting the local area, not needing to go too far afield. Cieran and Catherine were lovely hosts and the animals were a joy! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Ciaran and Catherine you have created a beautiful cottage with such stunning bespoke features, such as the amazing bed and stunning stained glass window. The welcome basket was second to none, Catherine your homemade bread was gorgeous. Your cottage was so cosy and comfortable, thank you so much for allowing us the privilege to stay and if we are in the area again we will definitely see if Lime Kiln Cottage is free xxx

Our stay at the cottage was incredible from start to finish.

The owners were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us, which made the experience even more special. The cottage itself was beautifully and thoughtfully designed, with so many lovely little extras that added a personal touch. The outdoor bath—with both hot and cold water—was a real highlight! Soaking under the stars with the fairy lights twinkling around us was just magical and the perfect way to unwind. A fantastic cottage, comfortable really clean, well equipped and lovely hosts

One of the best places we've stayed in South Wales by far!

The property itself was beautiful with lots of space and charm, and it was in such an idyllic and peaceful location surrounded by nature. The hosts were what made it even more special, though, as they were so friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy, especially with our dog, and they even left a few essentials for us in the apartment for when we arrived, which was a really kind gesture. We will definitely be coming back and staying here as we make many trips to the U.K.

Super relaxing cottage with all you need! Surrounded by fields & animals! So lovely! Highly recommend staying here everything is perfect! Super clean, welcoming hosts & lots of places to visit nearby! Dog also loved it! We plan to come back later in the year :)

We loved getting away from the hustle and bustle into the countryside and the owners of the farm are lovely.

We were greeted woth homemade food and it was decorated for Xmas which was a lovely surprise. They really go above and beyond. It is located on the farm and it was so lovely to wake up to the animals everyday although they were not.intrusive. our dog loved it! The bathroom was great and the log fire just added that coziness. We really didn't want to leave!

The fresh homemade bread, butter, marmalade, milk and juice were a lovely treat to welcome us. Would highly recommend coming here and we will definitely be back.

The cottage was warm, rustic and welcoming in all the best ways. Warm fresh home-baked bread on the table as we arrived. Perfect getaway from it all vacation. The cottage is perfectly situated close enough to many amenities and beautiful countryside.

Lovely accommodations , apartment is bigger than pictures suggest .

Upon arrival, greeted by freshly laid eggs , warm bread ,milk, butter, locally made marmalade and some food for our dog .Owners very warm and helpful , but not intrusive. If you’re stressed , this is the holiday for you ,very quiet and peaceful . Great fun watching the chickens / ducks roaming around and goats and sheep in the fields . Lots of local places to visit and things to do .Had a great time and now fully relaxed .Graham and Debbie

Absolutely wonderful cottage.

We loved the homely feel of the place, the decor, all you need in a cottage, and the wonderful outdoor seating area and bath. The lovely welcome from the owners, with fresh cooked bread, marmalade, eggs and tea and coffee. The array of farm animals that walked into the field surrounding us. So peaceful and calming

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean! The bath was just the best plus a lovely shower! The patio was beautiful with cute little lights for the evening to allow you to sit outside & overlook the fields! The cottage has also the essentials & good WiFi. The owners went above & beyond letting us feed the animals checking we were happy etc! Many places to visit within a short drive including kenfig nature reserve, monknash & Merthyr Mawr! Beautiful sandy beaches near by. Great for dog walks & seeing lovely scenery I never realised this part of wales had so much to see (there is also a dog friendly shopping centre about ten minutes away) ! We will definitely be coming back here! Cannot explain enough how lovely this place is! Thank you!!!! Basically just grab your doggy and take them for a lovely adventure they deserve it! Feel truely relaxed after staying here!

Really well fitted out extremely comfortable, the owners were very friendly and made us very welcome. Beautiful location nice and quiet. Lots of lovely animals on the property. We will definitely be going back.

Just back from a great week at Lime Kiln a very warm welcome from the lovely host, they could'nt have been more helpful and the home made bread was delicious.

Cottage was spotless and had everything you could possibly need, brilliant bathroom, comfy bed, good kitchen,and great lounge, very peaceful surroundings and it was lovely to see all the animals. The cottage is very handy to visit surrounding areas too, really did'nt want too leave, cant wait to go back next year

A perfect peaceful setting. Catherine and Ciaran could not have been more welcoming, kind and helpful. Welcome pack of warm, fresh, homemade bread, marmalade, milk and dog treats. They had even lit the logburner! All very much appreciated after a long drive. Cottage is well appointed to an extremely high standard and spotlessly clean, wonderful attention to detail with lots of quirky features. Within easy reach of the interesting places to visit both inland and on the coast.

Stunning bathroom and a nice quirk with the outdoor bath. So lovely to see the owners animals on your doorstep, not every day you get to be greeted by beautiful Peacocks. The owners are warm and welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. Thanks for a Wonderful stay!

Such a lovely retreat surrounded by wonderful countryside with short drives to the beaches and local towns.

On arrival we were met by Chickens, hens and a goose.We later met the two very friendly sheep, horses one with new foal, goats, cats and can't forget the two peacocks. A big thank you for welcome pack, bread, marmalade,cup cakes etc....Property had everything you would want, very comfortable indeed. Recommended to anyone.

One of the most magical stays I have ever had!

The animals, dogs, goats, horses, sheep and peacocks were just incredible! And the cottage, is even better than the pictures show. It’s cosy and warm, comfy and it has everything that you need! I couldn’t have felt more at home! The bath was just amazing! The welcome was spectacular from the owners too, from a very friendly hello to the home made bread! I highly recommend staying here if a slice of heaven is what you are looking for! I will be back! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Really beautiful cottage in a super location.

The house was beautifully decorated with extra decorations for Christmas. The kitchen was well stocked with fresh homemade bread, eggs and milk. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Can’t wait to return. Thanks

We have stayed in several cottages in Wales but this one is the best ever.

Everything we needed. Even the dog was looked after!! The cottage was spotlessly clean. We were even given home made bread, butter, marmalade and eggs. It was a bit chilly at night so we lit the log burner which made it very cosy! We plan to return, hopefully in February!! A first class cottage!!

This property has been converted to a very high and tasteful standard.

It has been decorated beautifully which adds to the countryside experience. Every detail had been thought of by the hosts which made the stay extremely enjoyable. A lovely touch was to be welcomed by home baked bread and farm eggs. Dog bowls and dog treats included which was also unexpected and lovely touch. Idyllic location but close to M4 for getting around. Can’t wait to come back thank you to our hosts you were amazing!

We had a lovely warm welcome from the owners. The cottage itself is decorated to a high standard, comfortable with lots of quirky decorations. The kitchen has everything you need, all utensils, washing up liquid, sponges, dishwasher tablets etc.We were even treated to fresh bread, eggs, milk and some treats for our dog! It has a lovely little enclosed patio garden, so our dog was free to wander around safely. We would definitely visit again!!!!!
