Stable Cottage

Well what can I say amazing place Fran and phil were so nice we were greeted with a chocolate cake which tasted really good and fran had baked herself the cottage was perfect we stayed 7 days and enjoyed every minute of it the view was breathtaking waking up every morning to peace and quiet and the beautiful view what more can I say stable cottage is now our favourite place and would recommend it to everyone so clean everything you need thank you Fran and Phil for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage ❤️

We loved the peace and tranquility of the location The property has everything you could possibly need and was a perfect size for my husband and me and our greyhound.

We loved the garden in particular. It’s small but secure for your dog and has an amazing view. It’s only a short walk to the foot of the Quantock Hills. The owners are friendly and helpful. We didn’t need to but I felt that we could have contacted them at any time We thoroughly recommend this property

Stable Cottage is in a lovely setting , very peaceful and tranquil.

If you want a quiet holiday then this is the place to be. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need. The beds and settees are very comfortable . Lovely outdoor seating with stunning views. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

Every aspect of the accomodation was excellent .

The hosts were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. We loved Stable Cottage and we would be very happy to stay here again.

Lovely cottage in a beautifully quiet environment.

We had scrummy lemon biscuits as a welcome gift . Owners very friendly and approachable. Spotlessly clean . Our only complaint is that it is a bit dated with an old cooker and no central heating. I contacted Sykes beforehand to tell them that the details hadn't populated correctly and there were 3 adults and a child staying with two dogs. However I received no reply and the owner was only expecting one person . She also told me that they usually only accept one dog but luckily was happy for us to stay with our two. Thankfully the owner was understanding.

Very comfortable and pleasent stay at stable cottage, the kitchen was well equipped with little extras sometimes need to pack, the lounge seating was very comfortable as were the beds which made for a cosey, quiet night sleep.

Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas of Taunton, visit to Dunster castle was a good day out, pretty local towns nearby, and some great walks just a short distance away. The hosts were so welcoming, would highly recommend!

Plenty of information on the area. We appreciated the coffee cake they made for us. Very pleasant rural area.

Beautiful Annex with glorious views.

Great location. Very well equipped. Owners v friendly and helpful. We loved the fresh flowers. The only thing we would have liked was a bigger bin and some extra bin bags. Highly recommend.

I really can't recommend Stable Cottage highly enough.

The location is perfect, being close enough to Taunton to enjoy the amenities a town has to offer, but far enough out to feel fully immersed in the tranquility of the countryside. The cottage itself is compact yet spacious, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Fran and Phil have tried to provide everything a guest could need, from the well-equipped kitchen to the many guide books and walking maps. The little self-contained garden was a real bonus and offered a lovely place to sit out with a breakfast cuppa or an evening glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful views across the countryside. Also worth a mention are the little homely touches, such as the vases of freshly cut flowers from Fran and Phil's garden which were placed in the living room and bedroom and, of course, Fran's delicious coffee and walnut cake! All in all it was a perfect stay and we can't wait to come back again!

Maybe a few essentials in the cottage on arrival-milk, bread etc would have made things even better.

The Annexe was perfectly comfortable and very attractively located.

The cottage is within easy driving distance to a couple of good pubs. A very peaceful & relaxing place to stay.

This is a lovely cottage in an old stable block.

There are great views over the Quantocks, with Wills Neck (the highest point in the area) on the doorstep. If you like walking, then this is for you. Hills one way and flat the other. You can walk to Crowcombe Station and watch the steam trains, whilst enjoying a snack (not open every day, so check the timetable). If you want a break from the car, take a train to Watchet or Minehead. The cottage has everything you need and there are good pubs a brisk walk away.

Phil and Fran are friendly but unobtrusive owners living next door.

The cottage was clean and very well equipped and as per the photos. It is situated in peaceful surroundings with plenty of wildlife and a stunning view.

Our hosts Phil and Fran are a lovely couple, very friendly and helpful, also Fran baked a scrumptious coffee and walnut cake for us on arrival (which made our stay even more delightful).

The stable cottage is a lovely place, very cosy and peaceful. The garden was just the right size for us and the views from there where very picturesque. The surrounding area is also very beautiful. Every few hours you will hear the steam train go through. We highly recommend The Stable Cottage to anyone wishing to get away for a nice relaxing break.

Owners were friendly and helpful. Cottage was very comfortable and clean, it had everything we needed, lovely part of Somerset especially if you enjoy walking.

Ideal cottage and garden.

Owner left us lovely coffee and walnut cake. Wild deer appeared in the next field. The only disappointment was that the local pub closed down last year and we had to drive a few miles for other pubs that offered meals. West Somerset steam train from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead went through stunning countryside. The Quantocks and Exmoor is glorious and the weather was perfect. Thankyou

The property was cold and unwelcoming when we got there.

The electric fire in the main room wasn't working properly, they did bring a couple of heaters around when we mentioned it. The handle on the freezer compartment in the fridge was broken so we couldn't open it. I did have to throw a couple of things away. The owners were friendly and the area was very quiet. We wouldn't go back to the property though.

Stable Cottage is a separate part of the owners property.

They are welcoming and helpful if needed but not intrusive. They had provided a scrumptious coffee and walnut cake together with flowers which lasted the week. The cottage was clean and well appointed and has a small garden. Note the freezer is part of the fridge. The countryside is beautiful and has many local walks. We strongly recommend this Cottage and area.

The cottage was comfy and in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The owners, Fran and Phil, were friendly and attentive. The bonus of one of Fran's homemade cakes was very much appreciated. We will be returning.

Perfect quiet spot in lovely setting with amazing views of the Quantocks and the surrounding countryside.

Was great base for two of us with a small dog with many walks from the doorstep including to the local, Blue Ball Inn. The small enclosed garden was great to let the dog out for a quick break between walks. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly.

Fran and Phil were excellent hosts and the property had everything we required.

Found lots of places to visit and would like to go back again. Also thumbs up for the local pub who were very accomodating with excellent food.

Stable cottage had all the facilities we needed and in a beautiful location. Fran and Phil the owners were really nice and helpful. Would certainly book again.

WE would suggest that the TV be exchanged for a larger screen model.

The glass in the door leading to the garden needs to be replaced. Whilst due to the poor weather we did not sit outside it would be useful to have a parasol available.

We had a lovely break at Stable Cottage, the owners were very welcoming, facilities are as pictured.

We visited with our 1 year old and it was perfect for him. He loved to explore the garden and spot the horses in the distance. Pub is less than a 10 minute walk and there are numerous places to visit close by and some great walks right on your doorstep.
