  • "Superb hosts and Superb property."

    Phillipa and Glynn - we want to thank you for a wonderful holiday; you made us feel very welcome and you were always available and helpful whatever we needed. We felt at home from the the start, and it was lovely to chat with you both - you helped with suggestions for walks with the dog and places to visit. Monks Rest is a lovely place to stay - it feels very homely, it is very comfortable, very clean and very well provided for in terms of kitchen utensils, and a very good internect connection, etc. The site is superb - it is kept very tidy and clean and the 16+ years limit makes for a very peaceful and relaxing environment. We both enjoyed our stay with you very much - one of the best holiday locations we have stayed at! Of particular note are the wonderful breakfast rolls and excellent coffee! Many thanks for a fantastic week!

  • "Owner hosts - Philippa & Glyn are the nicest people."

    No request from guests is too much trouble. Their Lodges are of the highest standard 5* plus. High quality furnishings throughout. Stylish Kitchen providing every possible pot, pan, utensil, crockery, glassware & silverware required, all high quality. Fridge & separate Freezer. Quality outside furniture, Gas Barbecue & superb Hot Tub for which thick, soft robes are provided with separate towels. Attention to detail both inside & outside the lodge, spotlessly clean, we were very comfortable on a highly maintained peaceful site, perfect to relax and unwind. Very much looking forward to returning.

  • "What a beautiful property and place."

    The lodge is sumptuously furnished and spacious with gorgeous beds, rainfall shower and hot tub. The owners are wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable about Monknash and the gorgeous coastal paths. When I visit my father and sister in the future, this is where I will be staying.

  • "We had a lovely short stay."

    So pleased to see Phillipa's friendly face welcoming us on the dark wet wintery night when we arrived, as I was trying to find the key code. She couldn't do any more to make our stay comfortable. The accomadation is so clean and modern, Bed and bedding were very high quality and comfy. Loved the woodburner and hot tub. Wonderful local pub a walk away, dog friendly too. No complaints at all and we will be back for sure.

  • "Monks Rest was beautiful well worth the visit it seemed like the owner had thought of everything."

    The area is beautiful we walked did 3 of the local walking routes(which the owner provided leaflets for) and they were stunning. We had our dog with us too and he loved every second.

  • "Absolutely wonderful holiday lodge!"

    Furnished to high spec. Bedding and towels top quality and bathroom warm and cosy with fabulous shower. Lovely welcome from owners who even provided treats for our dog. The area was very rural with views to the sea and amazing sunsets. Great dog walking and close to the pub what more could we want? Thank you- highly recommended.

  • "We had a lovely week with our family in this beautiful lodge."

    The accommodation is beautiful, and spotlessly clean, it feels nice and luxurious. We enjoyed BBQ’s outside and took in the view of the sunset and sea. Phillipa and Glynn really care about their guests often offering us recommendations for trips out, we had some great days out enjoying the beautiful beaches and local museum. Our children had so much fun. We were blessed with some good weather but it would be equally cosy in the winter with the log burner, on-site cafe and lovely pub 5 minutes away.

    The hosts are exceptionally helpful, providing their contact details in case you need anything. The property is impeccably maintained, with everything you could need, including an outdoor gas BBQ. The photos and description perfectly match what you get. We were absolutely thrilled with our stay and are definitely planning to rebook for both a winter and summer break soon. Thank you for an amazing 4-day stay!"

You are welcomed into this delightful home from the property’s front terrace through French doors leading into the modern style living space.

Offering a spacious place for guests to cook a meal of your favourite cuisine in the kitchen whilst discussing holiday delights with your family whom are relaxing in the living area in front of the recently lit fire.

Come together for an evening to eat at the dining table, which is positioned nicely between the kitchen and living room areas.

Accessed from this communal space are both double bedrooms, equally boasting high-quality bed linen, bespoke chest of drawers and decorative pieces as well as the shared bathroom with marble effect walk-in shower.

Finish your evening enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace looking out to the undisturbed sunset skies taking in the most spectacular sights; or enjoy a soak in the hot tub.

Monknash is a charming, historic village situated close to the Heritage Coast in the Vale of Glamorgan. The village offers an idyllic location for those wishing to indulge in the stunning local beaches, with options including the beautiful Monknash Beach, and a little further afield, Dunraven Bay, Southerndown, St Donats Beach, Traeth Mawr and Traeth Bach. Monknash houses a local pub, where guests can enjoy a hearty meal and a glass of their favorite beverage, and is also close to Wick, where you will find a convenience store and a greater selection of pubs and eateries. There is so much to be explored in the local area, beginning with a fantastic amount of castles and museums, ideal for history lovers. Options include Donat's Castle and Arts Centre, Dimlands Castle, Dunraven Castle, and many more. The historic towns of Llantwit Major and Cowbridge are well worth a visit, boasting independantr stores to be browsed at your leisure. The South Wales Karting Centre makews for an action-packed afternoon, whilst guests can try out horse riding at the Riding and Trekking Centre.
