Bedrooms, bathrooms and the living space all designed to a high standard and the property is in a beautiful location, with lovely views, nestled in the grounds of a working farm, surrounded by sheep which provide wonderful entertainment. • "Had a fantastic weeks stay at Woodpecker Lodge."

The Lodge itself is very well equipped for self catering accommodation and is clean and comfortable throughout. We had cake, milk, eggs (fresh from the farm) and gin and tonics waiting for us on arrival. And Anne was also there to give a warm welcome. She was very attentive during our stay and gave some good suggestions of where to visit. The views were stunning and there are plenty of walks right on the doorstep if you have dogs. It is also a good base to visit both North and south Devon, or indeed some of the local villages. I couldn't feel more relaxed in this quiet and tranquil location. Will definitely be back!!

  • "This is excellent accommodation."

A spacious lodge, well-equipped and comfortable. The rural setting is peaceful and out of the way. The owners are friendly. Tea and coffee, milk and eggs were waiting for us, along with cake. The farm sells lamb, pork and eggs. You don't really need to go anywhere. Even the internet is good. Criticisms? Well, the dessert spoons were a little small....

3 adults and one cavapoo. Before our holiday we was contacted by the joint owner Anne, who wanted to know if we wanted the beds made up separately or to zip them together to make big doubles. Plus wanted confirmation of our time of arrival and wished us a safe journey to Pound Farm. Arrival: The woodpecker lodge is very new ( built early 2023) and modern on the inside with everything you could want for a perfect stay. You can park a number of cars behind your wooden gates. In the kitchen it has everything you could want to make a sandwich to a roast dinner. Tall fridge freezer and dish washer. Both bedrooms are bright clean and good size. The two bathrooms are very clean and modern, with excellent hot water and pressure. One bathroom with walk in shower and the other with bath with over shower. Dinning room table for up to 6 people. Living area had a comfortable seating area which looks out onto the patio and the rolling fields. Large smart tv. Utility room with washing machine and sink and for putting your out door boots and coats. Underfloor heating which we didn’t need due to great weather we had. Large patio area with table and chairs and wicker furniture at one end, plus bbq. Views across the fields and the owners sheep. Wi-Fi very good. Mobile was a bit hit and miss which was nice not to keep getting phone calls :) Welcome pack of milk, tea bags, coffee, eggs, cake and bottle of wine, which was a very nice touch. Local pub Butterleigh inn is just a 5 minute drive or just a 10 to 15 minute walk. We had our Sunday roast there and visited for a evening drink which was very nice. Book in advance for Sunday roast. Overall: This is a fantastic clean modern lodge with super friendly and helpful owners Anne and Rob. Set in a peaceful location with great views of the countryside. I would highly recommend to anyone, and we are already looking to possibly go back in 2024 with my parents. Top tip: we ordered our food supplies on line with Tesco,s who delivered the next day to our lodge.

If peace and tranquillity is what you are after for your stay then this lodge will be perfect for you. On arrival to the Lodge we were welcomed with delicious homemade banana and chocolate cake, gin & tonic, milk and free range eggs from the farm which was a lovely gesture, we also had baby lambs in the field outside the lodge which was wonderful to see and hear! The accommodation itself was absolutely spotless and had all of the necessities that you could possibly want for your stay and more! Anne and Robert have definitely gone above and beyond when building the lodge and making your stay perfect. With regards to food, we took a walk to the Butterleigh Inn for an evening meal, all of their delicious food is homemade and the land lady is extremely welcoming. We also drove to the Fisherman's Cot in Bickleigh and had a great Sunday carvery, would highly recommend both pubs.
