Julian was a perfect host and we had everything we needed to make the stay enjoyable and perfect.

The kids made some new friends with the donkeys and loved their time away. Will be booking again for another stay this year before Christmas.

Everything you needed in The Barn for a trouble free holiday. Also a great base for visiting local landmarks and major supermarkets a short drive away. Julian the owner was always friendly and had local knowledge on places to visit. Definitely will return.

The Barn is a gem – remote enough to be very quiet and relaxing but within easy access of Crewkerne.

In very hot weather it was beautifully cool. The accommodation was spotlessly clean on arrival, the kitchen well-stocked with crockery and cooking items. Our host was on hand and happy to spend time showing us the livestock!

We simply loved this property .

the owners were very friendly and checked to see if all was ok..there was a lot of space and everything you needed .have to admit we were sad to leave .The views were so lovely .we loved the animals .so as you can see THE BARN WAS A FANTASTIC PLACE TO GO TO FOR A LOVELY HOLIDAY XXXX

The cottage is clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. The owners are welcoming and helpful. We were lucky with sunny weather and had a great time walking on the beach in Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Seaton and Beer - all easily reachable by car from here.

Stayed at the Barn at short notice over Christmas, owner very easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to make our stay very pleasant (thank you for the extra roasting tin).

Property was exceptionally clean, beds and bedding were very comfortable, nice powerful shower and had a very well equipped kitchen. It is a perfect spot for relaxing, the short walk to the entrance to dispose of refuse gave wonderful views of the surrounding area and the pub/restaurant is only a very short walk away. The animals in the yard are quite inquisitive if you are stood by the French doors in the main bedroom. WiFi was a bit hit and miss but didn't bother us there is a mast close by so you should be able to connect to most mobile networks.

We could not have been better looked after.

We were introduced to the animals, knew their names, and could visit the farmyard through our back gate. We were warned about smells although this was not a problem. The farmyard was kept clean and the Donkeys were regularly moved to their field, which was visible from the lounge. There were plenty of places to visit nearby and the roads were good, for the most part. We had a wonderful holiday and we could not fault the kindness of our hosts. We have already recommended this barn to all our friends.

WE had an amazing stay at the Barn.

The cottage was lovely, warm, clean and comfortable. Everything that is needed for a self catering holiday has been thoughtfully provided with everything that you could need to cook a family meal. The welcome on arrival from Julian the owner was lovely and friendly and he made us feel very welcome. Over the course of the week we also met his twin brother John who was also lovely and friendly. Seeing the animals was an added bonus that we thoroughly enjoyed. The stars on a cloud free night are absolutely amazing, like a carpet of glitter thanks to no light pollution. All in all we had a wonderful relaxing stay and cannot wait to return to The Barn.

The Barn is in a great location and was warm,clean with a well equipped kitchen . I would like to stay again. This is my first time booking through Sykes cottages and I found them rather unhelpful. Just a shame that a very simple problem could have been resolved through a phone call instead of days of texts.

It was extremely clean and very comfortable. All the facilities were of a very high standard. Julian the owner was friendly and helpful. Our only criticism was you that anyone staying there should remember to bring their own toilet paper, as only one roll was provided.

Lovely, clean accommodation. It is much bigger than it appears from the photographs. A large lounge and equally large kitchen leading through to a hallway with 2 large bedrooms on either side of a nicely appointed bathroom with a large shower. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal. Perhaps a couple of baking trays would be useful. An assortment of books and games are thoughtful additions. I would recommend The Barn to anyone wanting a secluded, restful holiday.

We have just got back from a lovely peaceful stay at the barn

I thought the Barn was well equipped and comfortable, it had everything that an adult would need.

The kids said the twin bedroom mattresses were a little uncomfortable. I brought all my washing and cooking stuff with me and was surmised to see it was stocked and available. The barn seemed bigger on the inside than it looked on the outside, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there and would consider returning. Julian & Terri were brilliant and very welcoming.

A lovely well appointed cottage, a very friendly owner who ensured our holiday was stress free.

'The Barn' has an idyllic setting in the North Dorset countryside that offers easy access to many places of interest.

We enjoyed our comfortable stay in bright, spacious accommodation, much bigger than the photos suggest. The owner, Julian, was hospitable and helpful in every way without being intrusive and offered to show us around the farm, introducing us townies to Mary the pig, and Dolly and Kylie, the adorable donkeys. We loved our stay and couldn't recommend it highly enough. We're already booking a return visit to The Barn.

A very comfortable Tardis.

( It seems much bigger inside than outside.). The Barn was always warm without having to mess with any settings on the heating. If you want it hot then the log burner threw out loads of heat. The beds were comfortable and we didn't have any issues with the farm animals. We found the Barn to be a good location for us to get to the places that we wanted to go to in Dorset and Somerset. Julian, the owner is both friendly and helpful. So you can't ask for more (except for a pair of scissors - Julian) - that's the reminder that you asked for!

We stay in a lot of AirBNB/Sykes type places (we have an additional 3 different properties just in this two week trip alone) and the Barn was exactly what we needed. Clean, warm, uncluttered - but with everything we needed. Your attention and hospitality was excellent. Thank you so much for the additional bedding, and again - if I owe you anything for the broken glass, please let me know.

Directions to the property were accurate and obtaining the keys no problem, although we’d definitely recommend not attempting a right turn into the drive as visibility is poor and we nearly got cleaned up by an oncoming car.

You can turn at the pub just down the road. Parking is right outside the front door. The Barn is exactly as shown in the photos. The main living area and kitchen diner are both spacious and comfortable if a little lacking in character. The kitchen is well provisioned with pots, pans and utensils so cooking and even baking is possible. The main bed is comfortable and bedding decent quality, the room having interesting views over the farmyard. The large bathroom has plenty of space if a little drafty in cold weather. The barn is in a great position for exploring the Dorset villages and coast. Only downside is you need to be prepared to bring your own consumables (toilet rolls, dishwasher pods, washing powder, bin bags) as only enough is supplied to get you started although Crewkerne is close by with shops for supplies. The owner is nearby if you need anything and is extremely helpful. Recommended.

The Barn was very spacious and most comfortable. The property was very well equipped. The location was ideal for touring the area and we were able to visit Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire during our stay. We loved being part of a working farm and we enjoyed seeing the donkeys and pig.

It was quite nice staying at a farm & seeing the animals in the mornings. The local pub on the main road was also great & the food was first class (if a little expensive!) The property itself was warm & comfortable and very spacious. The only thing I would suggest as an improvement would be, the provision of a kitchen roll & perhaps more than one toilet roll in the bathroom.

The place is very spacious, the photos don't do it service. The views are amazing and the pub down the road is only a walking distance and was such a great place to have nearby. The location is great, one of the nearest beaches is West Bay, only 20mins by car. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again.

An amazing barn conversion.

So comfortable and was so much better than the photos showed. It was a pleasure to stay here. Julian the owner was around on the farm and we learned quite a lot about the area from him. We'd love to visit again

My wife expressed an interest in seeing his bull and he actually drove her up to the field it was in. A really nice man.

We had a lovely time. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The barn itself is lovely and the wood fire is an absolute bonus. There’s a lovely local pub within easy reach and surrounding countryside is beautiful, with Lyme Regis just a short drive away. Would definitely recommend.

What a fantastic cottage in a beautiful location.

We loved seeing the animals every morning & evening & enjoyed feeding them carrots. Julian & Jonathan were great hosts and really made us feel at home. The cottage is really spacious, we loved using the log burner and the bed was really comfortable. The WiFi is a bit dodgy, but it’s a small price to pay for such a wonderful holiday cottage.

This was a very comfortable and well equipped cottage.

It was in a lovely area with great views and a pub within a few minutes walk. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. We had many a chat with him through our week there and he would always make time for us. This is a cottage we would definitely return to in the future.

Enjoyed our weeks stay very much - situated in a very rural area but a good base to explore the whole of Dorset. Loads of little villages around with craft and interesting places to explore. Very friendly family and although its a working farm - the animals are very quiet - and the silence at night is brilliant. Plenty to do right across Dorset and plenty for children as well

The owner was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The boys got to bottle feed the lambs, watch the calves feeding and meet the donkeys. The Barn was exceptionally clean on arrival and had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend and will visit again.

Everything was as expected. Beds were really comfortable. Lovely being on working farm. Good place to get to everything.

Generally a good holiday good accommodation but small items were missing.

When you pay for a holiday you expect to have some basics for your arrival. I appreciate it is self catering but upon our arrival we couldn'[t find any toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, the washing up liquid was empty and there were no dishwasher tablets.

The pictures do not do it justice in terms of size! it is lovely and spacious, even with 4 people. The owners are wonderful people, so friendly and helpful including fresh eggs every morning. the views are wonderful from the property and on the last morning, we were able to watch the sun rise over the hills. definitely worth a visit and would highly recommend.

The Barn exceeded expectations, with the rooms being larger than the impression the photos give. The views across the valley are lovely and the girls liked being able to see the cows, calves and sheep from the windows. The Barn is ideally located for many days out, we visited Lyme Regis, Weymouth, Abbotsbury and many other places. We hope to return in the future.

The cottage is on a working farm, the farmer is a very nice chap - who just makes sure your ok and then leaves you to enjoy your holiday.

The farm is very clean and there were no farm yard smells, just a lovely quiet place. Comfortable cottage, there were two of us but it would easily take four - all rooms, including the bathroom, are of a good size with a nice clean feeling. The view around the cottage is spectacular. There is a lot to see in this area. We enjoyed Bridport, Lyme Regis, Forde Abbey and Sherborne house and the local country is beautiful. Pub down the road, short walk, is good and has a garden with a lovely view.

Cottage was everything we could hope for. Owners were very nice and friendly. Only small thing I found difficult (bearing in mind I am elderly) was the steep step out of the door to sit in the sun We couldn't have wished for a better holiday. Hope to go back next year.

The Barn was a lovely place to stay.

It was extremely spacious with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. We were lucky with the weather but the evenings could still get chilly. Having a log burner was a bonus. Not only did it keep the rooms warm but it was very relaxing and made the pla e even more homely. The views from the accomodation are lovely overlooking a valley. There were cows with calves in the field nearby and sheep on the hillside opposite. We even saw a green woodpecker at very close quarters searching for grubs on the lawn opposite the living room window. A real 'bird's eye view'. There are lots of lovely towns and villages to explore without having to travel too far. The local pub is within walking distance and serve excellent food. They do an excellent carvery on Sundays. This was the perfect place for a relaxing holiday and I would certainly return again.

Pub just across the road,very friendly staff and great food. The farm road/track is very clean and smooth and is better than a lot of our roads!!! Good location to get to Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Poole, Yeovil.

Narrow roads around villages. Beautiful scenery. Barn owner was very friendly. Pub is easy walking distance but across a road that you need to be careful of. Also booking for a meal is fairly essential. Driveway into farm and to the Barn is very good. Directions given were accurate. All in all a very good experience.
