  • "We had the most wonderful week at Gar-Y-Traeth."

    The photos do not do it credit - the space is huge and airy and super comfortable. Yes, there could maybe be a few more comfy chairs in the living room but that is genuinely really not an issue. The beds are lovely, with feather duvets, there is a good powerful shower, very well stocked kitchen and so so many games! The location is marvellous, even in blustery October, and we have already booked to go back at Easter. The garage in Dinas Cross stocks a wide range of goods from gluten free bread to local booze and meat, grocery basics and cakes and bread. The pubs were both welcoming and served decent beer, and the walks from the doorstep were just incredible. We highly recommend this cottage.

    We really are so pleased you enjoyed it all so much. We have equipped the house as we want it and it is good when others enjoy that too. And there really is so much to do and enjoy, regardless of the time of year or weather. We will look forward to your return at Easter! Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday in a very well equiped cottage, such a great location for exploring the area."

    So many coastal walks available nearby, it was lovely to see lots of seals too. We definitely recommend dining at the neighbouring pub ' Sailors' Safety' and trying the scones at the David Light gallery in the village whilst enjoying the art work.

  • "The cottage location was excellent great for the family and dog."

    Pub and beach within 50 yards or so lots of walks to be had and located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Circular Walk around Dinas Head around 1hr 30mins back around to the Pub for a well earned pint. The cottage had everything we needed and the kitchen and main entrances where either slate floor or wooden which was great for keeping clean with the dog. It had an enclosed 360 garden with patio set for 6 . We were lucky with the weather it was sunny every day however if it was raining there was also numerous entertainment inside a full size pool table, board games, cards, jigsaws and lots of books to read so, the owners had thought of potentially bad weather occurring. would recommend this cottage for either a relaxing get away or if you want plenty of exercise.

  • "Lovely property in a great location."

    Very comfortable with dog friendly garden. A few bits of kitchen equipment could do with upgrading (eg. The rusty sieves and a couple of pans). The wind howled down the chimney for two days! But....overall a great stay. Thanks.

  • "We had a fantastic stay."

    Such a great location so near the beach, we spent most of the week in the area, swimming, walking, on the beach, in the sea. The scenery is spectacular. It was amazing to have kayaks available to use and the mostly sheltered bays were perfect for exploring. We’d never sea kayaked before but felt completely safe. The layout of the house suited us - it was great to have a long dining table to eat and chat at. The pool table got good use too. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog to explore and play in off the lead. Having a pub next door with a big garden was brilliant - sitting there we saw 2 dolphins playing in the bay for over half an hour one evening. We ate at the pub twice - pricey but the food was delicious. We didn’t want our stay to end and could have easily stayed much longer. Hopefully we will be back one day.

  • "Location of the house is brilliant and with two teenagers the canoes and pool table were brilliant."

    Beds really comfy. Biggest issue is the parking which is both difficult to get into (need to back around a corner to be able to close the gate) but also under a tree/bush that drips sap all over the car that wasps absolutely love. Ended up parking in the car park and just running through the wasps swarms. Cleanliness - could be better with a large lump of "shower hair" left on the floor (not a nice surprise when walking around barefoot) but in fairness it was probably just missed Facilities - lots of random stuff cluttering up the place (old shopping bags left on coat hooks and loads of cupboards in kitchen but not useful stuff (e.g. only one large glass) could do with a clear out. Parking - please consider trimming the "wasp" bushes!

  • "We loved this place."

    It's very rural, but the cove just 30 seconds from the house was a lovely treat, especially for our dog! The beds are extremely comfortable except for the downstairs single according to my 15yo. The shower was great, hot and powerful, perfect after spending a day at the beach. The property guide left by the owners was the best I have seen, full of great information of the surrounding areas. Downside was there was only one bin bag & food waste bag left. Even just leaving a couple would have been helpful. I did look at getting a Tesco delivery for our week,and whilst other properties with the same postcode were listed, Ger-yTraeth wasn't, however there is a large fully stocked Co-Op 10 to 15mins away in Newport. The fish and chip shop up the road was tasty but it's best to call first to order. As a family of 6, evenings in the front room were a little uncomfortable, it would probably work better if the two wicker chairs were replaced by a small sofa and the chairs were put by the french doors to provide more comfortable seating. The coastal walk next to the cove was beautiful, Newport Sands was just 15mins away but make sure you have money for carparks. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend and return.

  • "We loved the location and the home from home feeling."

    The location is amazing and our dog really appreciated the walks! The fact that we have booked it again for September says everything. How could it be better? The garden does need some work and a good set of knives would be really useful.

  • "Wonderful comfortable family house."

    Well equiped throughout with beautiful pillows & bedding. Great games & jigsaws available to use. Good laundry with a sheila maid to dry clothes.( an outside clothes line would also be useful). It was fabulous to have the little beach on the doorstep. My grandaughter & I went to watch the sunset on a couple of evenings...very special moments. Would definitely go back.

Ger Y Traeth is an open-plan house, set in the Pembrokeshire National Park, nestled by the seaside in Pwllgwaelod near Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire.

Ideally suited for a family and one doting dog, this detached property sleeps six people across four bedrooms, boasts sea and hill views, and comes equipped with off-road parking, pool table, and a collection of canoes – free for guests to enjoy in the nearby sheltered bay and beyond!.

Shake off your adventure-stained boots in the porch before entering the games area and open-plan kitchen/diner, supplied with a gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, toaster, and kettle.

Dig in at the dining table six, hosted by the picturesque countryside through floor-to-ceiling windows.

On those warmer evenings, enjoy dessert at the patio dining outside and immerse yourself in the views.

While the dishwasher cleans up, challenge your loved ones to a board game or round of pool or cosy up with a book by the open fire in the living area.

A little further afield sits Fishguard, a coastal town boasting scenic views from Saddle Point and Gorsedd Circle.

Or take that short drive to Cardigan and treat the animal lover to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, admire Cardigan Castle, and then finish the day in style with dinner under a tipi at Pizzatipi!

St David’s Cathedral is about 45 minutes away with regular evensong in a beautiful setting and Strumble Head Lighthouse is a similar distance, where your chances of seeing a seal or two are very high.

Boat trips are available at both St Davids and Cardigan Bay.

DINAS CROSS

Newport 2.5 miles.

The village of Dinas Cross has a well stocked grocery shop, two pubs, a fish and chip shop and lies between the Preseli Hills and the Pembrokeshire coast. Cwm-yr-Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod beaches are both short walks away and the three-mile walk around Dinas Head accessed from either beach is one of the finest walks in Wales. Both beaches are ideal for swimming, sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Newport three miles away at the estuary of the river Nevern is a bustling old town with vast beaches and lies at the foot of the mystical mountain Carn Ingli. Fishguard, five miles away is an historic old fishing village on the estuary of the river Gwaun and has many amenities including a cinema, leisure centre and a vibrant music scene which has three festivals devoted to folk, classical and jazz music. Further away is the market town of Cardigan to the north and the historic city of St Davids to the south with its magnificent cathedral and many eating places. There are many good cafes and restaurants in Newport and Fishguard and excellent local produce available at the weekly street market in Newport.
