Towy Cottage – A Peaceful Family Getaway Near the Sea Just 2 miles from the pretty village of Cenarth and less than 15 minutes from the stunning beaches of Cardigan Bay, Towy Cottage is a perfect base for a relaxing family holiday.

Set at the end of a small row of cottages on a former farm, this charming stone cottage offers a warm, countryside feel with plenty of space to unwind. Inside, the cottage features a cosy living and dining area with a woodburning stove, comfy seating, and a Smart TV.

The dining table seats six – great for family meals or board games.

The kitchen is bright and cheerful, with everything you need to cook up something tasty.

Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and one twin room, plus a light-filled family bathroom.

A handy cloakroom is also located on the ground floor. Outside, enjoy meals in the fresh air at the outdoor dining area or soak in the private hot tub while watching the sunset.

The large garden is perfect for kids to play, and guests also have access to shared facilities including a Games Room, Play Area, Football Field, and a small Golf Range (open May to September).

There’s also outdoor Chess, Table Tennis, a barbecue area, and a small info studio.

Cenarth is famous for its picturesque waterfalls and historic coracle fishing.

You can visit the National Coracle Centre to learn about this unique tradition.

Enjoy coastal walks along the Ceredigion Coast Path, explore hidden coves, or take a boat trip to see marine wildlife. Nearby Cardigan town offers independent shops, cafes, and the historic Cardigan Castle, while nature lovers will enjoy the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran.

Penwernfach Holiday Cottages

The Penwernfach Holiday Cottages consists of a polished selection of six cottages in the charming hamlet of Ponthirwaun, Ceredigion. Penwern Fach, Welsh for “Head of the Elder Grove”, once a working farm, has now “retired” to a more peaceful way of life. The original traditional stone buildings have been sympathetically converted and nestled in 10 acres of private grounds in the heart of the beautiful countryside – it is easy to feel you have escaped to another world. This collection offers a communal games room, barbecue, a large garden with outdoor chess, a play area and a football field, making it a lovely base for families or couples. Just over a mile from the picturesque village of Cenarth, home to the famous waterfalls and salmon fishing on the River Teifi, Penwernfach is also within easy reach of Newcastle Emlyn, Cardigan, and the spectacular Cardigan Bay coastline. A scenic riverside walk through Cenarth offers the perfect way to enjoy a summer’s evening. Cardigan, just 10 minutes away, boasts fascinating shops and a rich history, including the Castle, the site of the first Eisteddfod in 1176, which has been restored and is now open to the public. Newcastle Emlyn, 3.6 miles away, is a charming market town on the River Teifi, offering antique, craft, and book shops, a weekly livestock market, and the ruins of a 13th-century Welsh stone castle. Cardigan 7.5 miles; New Quay 18 miles.

The village of Cenarth is located on the River Teifi, with its picturesque water falls where you can enjoy peaceful walks and sometimes catch sight of the local fishermen out on the river in their coracles. Visit the Coracle Museum, tea rooms, gift shops or pubs to complete your delightful day out. The coastal town of New Quay is close by where you can book a local boat trip to go dolphin spotting. Alternatively, visit The Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran where you may see badgers, otters, buzzards and even deer, or why not explore Cilgerran Castle? With local mills, craft centres, potteries, cheese making and much more you will be spoilt for choice in this part of Wales.
