  • "TyLlwyd was such a treat for us to stay in."

We were able to show our dear friends all our favourite parts of West Wales. The baked goods were a fabulous start to the week and we soon realised Catherine has a hidden talent in baking. The cottage was clean, tidy and had everything to had. The hot tub was an added bonus. We really felt welcomed by both the owners and all the animals. Ty llwyd will definitely see us again, maybe with a few more friends next time. Thank you for such a wonderful week... we all really needed it.

  • "The cottage was lovely, clean and spacious it was perfect for celebrating my husband's 60th birthday."

The garden was perfect for the kids and the animals were a bonus, all enjoyed feeding the horses and goats. All bedrooms were well decorated and a good size, great to have enough bathrooms. Plenty of cooking equipment and plates, cutlery ext. The home made box of brownies left for the guests were a lovely gesture. Hosts were very communicative and answered any questions we had quickly. We had a brilliant holiday. Thanks to Mark, Catherine and girls.

  • "A beautiful cottage in a fabulous setting, Ty Llwyd provided superb accommodation for our family holiday."

There were some very welcome and unusual elements, such as the penned farm animals surrounding the extensive gardens, children's zip wire and playground equipment - all of which were captivating to our younger family members. The cottage itself was charming and homely with everything we could need for our week's stay.

  • "Lovely large house for an extended family stay."

Common area at the back with large grass area for games, swings and zip wire, as well as 2 large picnic tables. Really good for younger children. Also a couple of goats and cows in the back field. Lots of space inside the house for different groups of people doing games, watching TV or chilling out. Undercover hot tub - can easily fit 6, if not more. Lovely decoration in the house, lots of chairs and sofas in the rooms for a quieter time. Lovely, helpful and friendly hosts as well. Lots to do locally, I was concerned that might not be the case as this part of Pembrokeshire is not as well known. Between 10 and 20 minutes away: Local beach at Newport is medium sized - even larger with the tide out. Has some great small caves, but keep and eye on the tide. Lovely smaller beaches either side of Dinas Island. Lovely coastal walk around Dinas Island as well, though there are some steep and rocky sections. See Walescoastalpath.gov.uk for more walks. Local Iron Age fort with activities (check before you go as not every day). Shortish drives to local mills who weave beautiful wool, one is called Melin Tregwynt (35 and 45 minutes). Also St David’s with the amazing Cathedral. Reservoir with water activities about 25 minutes away, called Llys-y-fran, also cycling, but the route around the reservoir was a bit of a challenge with several steep hills with slate. Not too far is Picton Castle, lovely to look around with gardens and there are escape rooms - very reasonably priced. Go-karting at westwaleskarting about 30 minutes away. Fantastic fish and chip shop in Crymych, also a lovely health food shop who bake their own Welsh cakes - definitely recommended. Hope that gives you confidence to book this fantastic accommodation and have lots to do locally!! We also booked the smaller house next door to give us even more rooms - beautifully renovated.

The space was perfect. Hosts were friendly and very helpful and as an added extra, make lovely baked cakes, we had brownies, which were delicious. Both indoor and outdoor spaces were ideal. Situated on a river, the location is beautiful, as was the weather, this all added to a really lovely family holiday. This is such a sociable space, loved the evening meals around the huge kitchen table, and cosy nights in the lounge with the log burner, although the children loved the attic space for chatting and watching their own selection of TV etc. Such a lovely house, views, rooms and facilities. Wonderful area with so many beautiful beaches and places nearby. Would love to come back again. Thank you so much for everything.

Very well equipped kitchen, best I have seen. Comfortable beds. Nice and warm and clean. Great to have so many bathrooms. Hot tub was a very good distraction to the bad weather (storm Eunice). Loved the huge kitchen table where we sat a lot either eating or playing games. Didn’t actually meet the owners but they were close by and we kept in regular contact via text. Nice outside area for the children to use. The laundry was very handy too.

A lovely touch. Information booklet available with regards to the local area and beaches and attractions to visit and general advice. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 5 kids aged between 14 and 9. The house was lovely and spacious with plenty of room to either congregate as a group or have some privacy. The hot tub was an absolute winner, spacious and enjoyed by all. The outdoor area was perfect for the teenagers to play sports and the zip wire was an added bonus for the kids. The kitchen was well equipped and huge to have us all around one table. The attic room was great for the kids as they had their own TV so they were able to have their own space. Aware of the problems due to Covid but feel Sykes should have done more to respond to our concerns. Sykes simply hid away under cover of the Covid crisis. We eventually got there and the people (Mrs Davies and husband?) at the house were lovely and all communications about issues we experienced were spot on and we were therefore able to resolve anything that was an issue very quickly. Sykes need to make it clear that provision of cots excludes the provision of s suitable mattress. Also ... Had problems with the 2 upstairs ensuite shower rooms... one was permanently running cold with no hot water pressure, the other was far too small to fit anyone of larger than 5'6" and medium build (this excluded all but one of the adults in the family!)... we were able to use the other showers and bath but this was a bit of negative on an otherwise excellent stay. Overall, loved the house, especially the kitchen, the location and most of the facilities. A little work on the ensuite shower rooms would make it almost the perfect large family get away.

Such a stunning setting, great facilities for families and friends. We were part of a large group of 3 families, 6 adults, 6 children. We had so much space and freedom it was great you wouldn’t have known most of the time we were all under one roof. The kitchen area is a great space to entertain. The table is huge! I’m pretty sure during our stay we used almost all of the kitchenware. For the amount of us we really needed it so that was brilliant. We often opened the windows at night so that we could hear the stream, it was so peaceful. Hot tub was great fun! The kids loved all the lights! Not too far away from many sights we visited a few beaches and did a few forest walks, the nearby waterfall was a good walk for all the family and pushchair friendly. We even ordered a few cakes to go, the arrival ones were lovely! Overall fab stay and will definitely plan to come back again.

Plumbing in one room uses a very noisy macerater which could and did disturb sleep as floors are thin and noise travels. We asked for an extra bed in the family room which was provided, thank you , but the mattress on it was very thin for the child to sleep on . The owners were very helpful with providing bits and bobs which made food production easier. Lots of information sheets meant we were able to fill our time with very interesting outings in an area we knew very little about, even though we had researched some for ourselves. We should have appreciated another door key as different parties in our group were out and back at different times.

  • "The house was lovely, big and spacious."

All in all the property was perfect for what we wanted. It was for 3 birthday celebration and a well deserved break for 5 couples who really don’t get to see it each other very often. We cooked and brought food with us so we didn’t have to do much cooking on the days we were there However there is plenty of pots, pans, plates, cutlery and baking trays. There is also a dishwasher which is perfect as we hardly did any washing up. Most rooms have en suits and the beds were all doubles, one had an extre single and another had a cot, which was perfect for family’s. The location is ideal if you don’t want to leave the house, everything else is a car trip away. The beach was 10 mins away by car along with the pubs and shops. There is one room at the top which has no heating and we asked for a heater which was brought over straight away. If anyone plans to book this lovely house please make sure some essentials are packed... toilet paper (I brought a 12 rolls which was just enough), kitchen paper( I brought 4) hand wash (6 needed as none in any bathrooms) tea/coffee/sugar/ bread/eggs/butter/ beans and all food to eat throughout stay. Also take extra towles with you, the home owners left us a towel each however once you use the towel there isn’t much space to dry the towels, so we used the towels provided by the owners when we used the hot tub and our own for when we had a shower. Looking back we could have easily used the heaters to dry them on! So again that’s up to you. There is a spare fridge/washing machine and tumble dryer in the outhouse which is also an added bonus. I absolutely loves the house, but as it is not lived in and mainly has occupancy when big groups book, the house can accumulate some cobwebs and dead flys, not that it bothered us guys much, as the boys went around and swept them off not many just a few and there was cleaning products to hand, so again added bonuses :) Will I book this property again... most definitely next time my partner and I fancy a break I may even book the smaller cottage as that was on the same grounds and could have been booked together for even larger groups. Everything was what I expected. Thank you again to the Davies family for such an amazing time. Not to forget we had a welcome pack of freshly baked muffins on arrival which was an absolute treat and went down well ( we all found out later the 12 year old daughter had baked them... amazing) I wished I ordered some before I left but forgot. This property is lovely ❤️
