  • "We had a fabulous stay in the bungalow."

The property was light, airy, clean, fresh and welcoming. Fresh towels and bedding was provided. The key safe was an excellent method for key collection and drop-off. The welcome food parcel, milk and butter were such a lovely thought and were very much appreciated. An outstanding property with a secure garden for our dogs. The outdoor space is ample for hanging out washing, eating tea at the garden table while the little ones (and dogs) played on the grass. An absolutely excellent property and great location (few minutes walk to park and pub!!). Thank you to the owners for sharing their property with us and for their thoughtfulness.

Very well equipped with everything you need. The welcome pack left by the owners was a god send seeing as I forget to pack tea bags. My dog really enjoyed the garden and it is very safe.

  • "We had an amazing stay at the bungalow over May half term."

I had read some negative reviews about damp etc but found no issues upon arrival or during our stay… if they were issues previously this has been rectified. The bungalow was spacious for 4 adults and had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday. The weather was amazing so we made use of the outdoor space also. We would definitely stay here again

Great kitchen with everything you could need. Clean and comfortable bedrooms. Great shower! We were disappointed that we were not allowed a key to the French doors!? Some instructions Re wi-fi code and emptying the dehumidifier. No clue when we should have put bins out. Garden was lovely and our dog settled in nicely.

We were also delighted with the care that had been taken with the deco of the property in that there were special touches throughout demonstrating the seaside location and nature of the bungalow. We will certainly be looking for a Sykes Cottage location for future holidays. Thank you!

  • "We found the bungalow to be clean, well appointed and comfortable."

The garden was tidy and the rooms were a decent size. One of the lamps didn't work, so we left a note. Also, it would be useful if hob and oven operating instructions were provided. The beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful. There is also a garage to store bikes and there is also some chairs for guests to use. Other than that, the bungalow is in a lovely location for visiting beaches, towns and local attractions. We also appreciated the use of a welcome pack of assorted goodies. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

  • "We had a lovely week in The Bungalow."

February half term, chilly out, but certainly not indoors. Sun shone for the most lucky were we. The reviews I had read before booking were very 50/50, but I’m so glad I discounted them. The bungalow was clean, no damp, bathroom had disabled shower seat and hand rails, was I think newly painted, and furnished well. One bugbear...double beds only had double duvets, which would have been better with king size on them. But that is the only negative (if you can call it that) to report! Our dog Freddie and parrot Buzz, had a great week too! A lovely basket of goodies were left for us, and milk and butter in the fridge. We would not hesitate to book again.

  • "The Bungalow looked very nice on the photo's, but the cleanliness was an issue in the past, and we thought they would of rectified it."

The bedding was clean. There was mould in all the rooms and dust in the corners. there was even what looked like blood stain on a net curtain in one of the bedrooms'. Could of done with a dishwasher and a hair dryer.

Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that you had issues with The Bungalow during your stay. Had you reported these to us whilst you were in the property we would have arranged for these to be attended to as a matter of priority. The property has been assessed and does not contain mould, but there is a small amount of condensation build up around the window. This build up of condensation could be a result of the area not being adequately vented during the wet weather which was experienced during your stay. It was very unfortunate that during your stay the number of people with Covid in Pembrokeshire was at its highest in the whole country, even higher than in major cities. When you are on holiday in such a beautiful and rural place it is hard to imagine there is Covid. Although it is unlikely that covid was contracted purely from your stay in the bungalow, I would urge guests whilst they enjoy the cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops, galleries and local attractions to be mindful of the current government covid guidelines. Ventilating the bungalow and using the sanitizing products can help keep us all safe. Property Owner

Looked like the floors had not been mopped. Dust every where, The bed frame was covered in dust. I had to go around and cleaned the property before we unpacked and sat down for the evening. The front of the oven which is a false front dropped off . The shelf was covered in grease and still had food on it. I did not touch it , left it. Disgraceful . I took a photograph. Dust was present behind radiators and under chairs. Luckily we brought lots of throws to put on the furniture and brought sheets too. We won't be going back or using Sykes Cottages again

  • "Great location to get to places."

Bungalow spacious bright and well equipped. Decorated well. Homely feel to it. Lovely welcome pack. Beautiful part of the country. Definitely, definitely go again. Lovely people. The only small part I would pick up on is that the bungalow was surface clean but skirting boards, inside cooker etc looked like they had not been cleaned for some time. This did not in any way spoil our holiday. Just something to possibly improve on.

  • "Although the property worked well for us, considering the cost was £1,400."

00 it was not up to the usual standard of accommodation when staying in Norfolk for the same cost. 1. The bathroom light cord was broken and we advised of this on arrival, but didn’t receive a response. 2. No recommendations of restaurants/takeaways or places to visit in the local area. 3. No hairdryer or bbq at property. 4. Lack of cleaning products left for use and soap ran out after a day or so. Two bin liners is not sufficient for 5 people in property and self-catering for 1 week. Rubbish/external bin facility extremely inadequate to cope with a week’s rubbish! We had to leave 5 black bags of rubbish plus one in bin outside. No instructions for rubbish collection. 5. Garden needed tending. The grass was long and borders very untidy. Garage needs cleaning and should have a bbq stored and some smart sun loungers for garden. 6. A Chrome cast for tv would be a suggestion and the kitchen should have a dishwasher.

We spent a lot of time in the garden when the weather permitted, the dogs loved it too. It felt very covid safe and the necessary requirements were not at all restrictive. Lots to do in the surrounding area, we enjoyed the marine walk to goodwick, a visit to Strumble head lighthouse, and visited as many of the lovely beaches nearby as we could. We have enjoyed a wonderful holiday in a comfortable spacious bungalow in a perfect location. We thoroughly enjoyed coastal walks direct from the doorstep and equally enjoyed driving through surrounding beautiful Pembrokeshire scenery to visit amazing beaches and beautiful local areas Solva, St David's, Newport to name just a few. We loved the bungalow's seaside themed / pale blue and cream decor. Our only comment for attention is the bathroom flooring which is lifting (wondering whether water is getting underneath?) and dusty skirting boards spoiling an otherwise spotlessly clean bungalow. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "We have just returned from this property and we’re a little disappointed."

Normally there is a welcome ‘pack’ on arrival, giving details of WiFi code, heating instructions etc. All we had was a load of cleaning products and instructions of emptying the bin and taking the bedding off. I understand the need for these, but there were no personal touches. The bungalow is actually quite tired and I don’t like to complain, but it wasn’t clean...with lots of dust on skirting boards and in the bathroom. I used the back bedroom and the wooden furniture smelled really bad. There was a dehumidifier in the property so I assume there’s a damp problem. It takes a long time to fill the bowl with water to wash dishes as the pipe work is old and inadequate. Also, a bigger bin is needed as there’s no option to recycle anything. On the plus side, the area is lovely and quiet with a big field nearby and the shops are all within walking distance. Fishguard is a pretty place with lots of stunning views from great walks. Nice to have a decent sized TV in the living area with built in Netflix.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your valuable feedback. We are so sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your stay. Had we been made aware of these issues at the time of your booking, we could have looked to rectify these for you during your stay to make yourselves more comfortable. The Wifi password is located on the back of the router which is visible within the property. We have taken on board all of your comments to ensure that the property is maintained to the standard you should expect. Thank you again for your comments. Property Owner

  • "Although the bungalow was very clean and tidy on arrival, there were a few points I would like to raise."

    1) Unfortunately the bungalow did smell as if it was damp and we noticed that there were damp boxes to catch condensation on bedroom windows. I suffer with asthma and on returning home, I have a slight chest infection, I think may be due to the damp. 2) We were unable to use the central heating as there were no instructions on how to use it. In hindsight we should have contacted Sykes to let you know. 3) It would be helpful if owners left their phone number in case of any issues 4) Instructions on how the bungalow works would be helpful, such as easier instructions on how to use the digital hob, and also inform guests that there is Netflix on the TV as this was a godsend. 5) Information leaflets on various activities in the area would certainly help guests. All in all, we would give our whole holiday experience 8/10

Inside prop french doors dont open keys dont work.had to mop back bedroom as floor dirty.fridge freezer dirty with food in.slept in back double room which smelt damp from chest draws .moved to other back bedroom scratching noise like rats. Decided to come home early as not to our standands had to wash all clothes when home as mold smell on them. This is not 4 ticked prop and i feel it would take alot for us to go with sykes again.

Thank you for your feedback. Garden Waste - Unfortunately due to a mix up with the new booking system with the local refuse centre, we were unable to remove the clippings. Due to our oversight I have asked the gardener to resolve this issue for me which he has done. Damp smell - Due to the restrictions of Covid across the UK, this has impacted the use of holiday homes which has presented new challenges which we are actively trying to overcome. Your comments regarding the damp smell have been raised with the cleaning team who have worked to resolve this issue. French door keys - There is a fully working rear door which keys have been supplied with the property. which has a hallway which would allow the guest to remove any wet or dirty footwear and coats, in an attempt to ensure that the Bungalow remains clean for future guests. Therefore the keys for the french door have not been supplied. Rats - The floors in the back bedrooms are concrete so it is not likely to harbour rodents. following your comment I have tasked the cleaning team and the gardener to look for any evidence or signs of a rodent problem. Fortunately they have found no evidence of their presence. I am unsure what you heard, but I am confident to say that it was not rats. Property Owner
