  • "We would recommend Timbertwig Lodge especially if you have a dog."

We have a large Caucasian Shepherd and the owners of this lodge were really accommodating and pet friendly. Our dog dug a bit of a hole in the garden and Christine was very kind and understanding. The Lodge is perfectly situated between many dog friendly beaches . We went in January, so I do not know about the beaches in the summer. The Lodge was extremely clean ,we took throws for the settees as they are white leather. While the wooden floor helped with large dog paws. The garden is enclosed and safe for our large dog to run loose . It's small but really lovely. We had a great time and we will hopefully go there again . Gloria

Lovely meeting you both and your surprising large ‘woolly bear’. So glad you had a good time. Property Owner

  • "Really great location for exploring Pembrokeshire."

Very spacious, well-appointed lodge. There were a few drawbacks: - to get to the lodge you have to walk past the main home entrance of the lodge owner; this wasn’t a huge problem but didn’t allow for any privacy for lodge guests and a little uncomfortable as it feels like you’re walking through someone’s garden and worried about disturbing the owner when exiting the property/going to the car. - it was great to be able to take pets, but our room smelt a bit of dog. Perhaps unavoidable if dogs are allowed on premises. - the boiler was very temperamental, and we had only luke warm water in the main bedroom en suite. We should have spoken with owner but just used the main bathroom; this needs fixing. - the roads to and from the lodge are mostly B roads and many were severely water logged if not flooded. This comes with the lodge being rural but if you’ve got a small sports car then you might want to borrow a car or go someone less rural! The owner left Welsh cakes and mince pies which were lovely and her communication with us was superb. The kitchen was really well stocked with pots, pans etc. and the kitchen being part of the living room area was brilliant for entertaining.

Its just what it said on the tin, showing my age there. I could happily live there, especially with a weekly delivery of Welsh Cakes from Chris. Such a quiet, quirky cottage. I sat in the covered sitting area at the rear of the property and watched the birds coming in and out of the garden and listened to their song. Thank you Chris and Richard Gary and I loved our week

A great sheltered veranda so you can sit outside even if the weather is drizzly, an enclosed garden for the dog and for drying wetsuits. A lovely well equipped kitchen and the en suite master bedroom gives another space to relax. A football pitch and trampoline made it even better for the kids. Timbertwig is well situated for beaches and other places to visit and the hosts are great - on hand if needed. Would recommend especially for families with kids and pets

The accommodation was perfect: spacious, clean and with everything you need for a comfortable stay away from home. The enclosed garden was great for our dog and the outside space was wonderful. We really enjoyed sitting outside in the covered deck, whatever the weather. The hosts were on hand if we had needed anything, but the space was totally private. The location was great for exploring the beaches and towns nearby. It's possible to walk to Pembroke if you want to have a day without driving. All in all, we had a fantastic week at Timbertwig Lodge and wouldn't hesitate to return.

  • "A spotlessly clean property in a lovely part of the country, the owners were very helpful over a couple of minor issues but the underlying property maintenance is extremely poor and although this didn't wreak our holiday it was very disappointing as this is not what I have experianced from a Sykes holiday cottage with this tick rating before."

A broken cistern lid and cracked mirror in the main bathroom, a cracked toilet base, pitted basin and window blinds that dont work in the ensuite. The glass in the woodburner is cracked, plates are chipped, the blind in the kitchen does not work, hot water is a bit intermittent and inadequate for the bath (ok for the shower) and outside there are areas of decking which have failed or are failing with a large hole immediately outside the patio doors of the main bedroom. These issues need addressing as a matter of urgency in particular the decking as the doors from the bedroom could provide a fire escape route and in the current state of repair, this route is unavailable. Finally call me old fashioned but clear glass in the door of the ensuite bathroom giving a full view of anyone sitting on the toilet from the bedroom is a total no no. The blind over the glass, such as it is, provides zero privacy.

Thank you for your positive comments....We have taken into consideration your feedback, and as a matter of course we duly give any guests concerns our upmost and prompt attention. Where issues raised by our guests are concerned, and bare any merit, we will always act accordingly. Timbertwig Lodge continues to stand in good order and is continually monitored for any maintainance and improvement. Our feedback from other guests speaks for itself... Even so, we are mindful of different needs and opinions, which is why we are always looking to improve what is on offer. Chris Property Owner
