  • "An idyllic property equipped to a very high standard and ideally situated for use as a base for enjoying Pembrokeshire."

However, two major issues .... The flies ( as noted by other previous visitors and reported to the letting agencies ) and the faulty main door lock; both of which combined to ensure a less-than relaxing stay at the property. The owner and/or the letting agencies should take measures to make visitors aware of the issue of the flies in advance of their holiday giving them the opportunity to cancel should they choose to do so. Visitors are obliged to keep doors and windows closed in order to restrict access to the interior of the property by the flies but even then they manage to find a way into it. Measures have to be taken to ensure hygiene is not compromised by the flies but there is the inevitable scenario of flies perching on both yourselves and any dogs that are sharing the holiday with you. The faulty main door lock requires professional attention; it is a chore on holiday to ensure that all valuables ( lap tops; camera's etc ) are taken from the property on days out because a car offers more security than the unlocked property. At the end of the day valuables need to be taken to the bedroom so that they are relatively secure overnight. We would love to recommend this property but are unable to do so.

Thank you for your feedback. I am obviously sorry for the issues you experienced during your stay. I had been led to believe that the issue with the lock had been resolved during your stay as there were two call-outs. Once I was made aware it was not, this was sorted. I will work with the agent to make sure that I am made aware of similar issues more quickly in future. I would add that it is a very safe location with neighbours around in the day and very little through traffic so the risk to your belongings would have been minimal, but that is not an excuse for the lock not working as it should. The flies are more challenging to deal with. I was at the cottage myself a couple of weeks prior to your stay so was aware of the issue. There is a fly trap in the garden and a zapper in the house, along with fly paper. Unfortunately, it appears to have got worse during your stay. I gather from the neighbours that this has been particularly challenging this year due to the unusually dry weather. The cottage is adjacent to two farms and a brook, creating conditions conducive to flies gathering. The recent rain has improved things significantly now. I will continue to look for more preventative measures in future to try to avoid this but it is nature and mostly out of our control. Despite these issues, I do hope that you managed to enjoy the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and surrounding area. Property Owner

The bed was super comfortable and the pretty, mature garden is a real suntrap in the afternoon. The area is really peaceful but so close to Haverfordwest with all the ammenities. There are an abundance of beautiful beaches very nearby and other places to visit too. Our dogs had a fabulous time!
