  • "This place is a home from home."

It's very warm and welcoming. However, it is an old building so it creaks and groans like most old buildings do. It hasn't been refurbished in a while, but I feel this is part of its charm. The sitting room is very bright and you can really relax in its comfort. You are in the heart of The Mumbles, with Oystermouth Castle a very short walk away. Just a note though, thr bar next door has regular music sessions, and it's quite loud til around 11/11.30 pm, so if you have little ones that need a quiet place to get to sleep this may be a challenge. Very good hosts, helpful but definitely not intrusive.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay, and lucky for us very good weather."

I am 82, and since I broke my hip I am rather wobbly on my pins. Therefore the entrance with all the stone steps was a nightmare for me. It would be kind to publicise this as disabled people could not get in at all. Thank you.

  • "We had a great stay in this lovely apartment."

It's very central, being close to shops, the castle, micro bars and a short - but hilly - walk to the sea front. Loads of space in the extremely well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and pillows, and a bright and airy lounge! We loved the outdoor space too, and the added benefit of a parking space! My only problem was there were so many books, I found it hard to choose my holiday read... So many books and so little time! Ideal property for book worms like myself and daughter. Thank you very much!

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at the Bookshelf."

It's an attractive flat -spacious and comfortable (lovely big lounge room) and we felt at home there. And it's over a bookshop!! It was a great location for us, very close to shops & cafes etc, bay and bus route, as well as by the castle. We enjoyed Mumbles itself as well as using it as a base for exploring the wonderful Gower peninsula.

  • "Wonderful location with its own parking space."

The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The children loved being able to choose stories from the well-stocked bookshelves, and although we didn't use them, it was lovely to see a range of board games too. A good base to explore the beach by the pier, restaurants within easy reach and the castle. Diolch yn fawr am y croeso.

  • "The only drawback for oldies like us is the number of steep steps in and out of the property."

It had a wonderful view of the castle which is so close and in a lovely park .The Welcome Pack was a very nice touch. A short walk to the beach and lots of great independent small shops close by.

Thanks for your feedback. Glad you had a good time. We are adding a note about the stairs on the listing. Property Owner

  • "Review by Jessica: Fantastic place to stay."

Conveniently located for every thing we needed. Upon arrival the apartment was clean and tidy. The bedrooms nice and spacious and a lovely bottle of Prosecco left for us which was a nice touch. There was only one downside, which I must stress this did not affect us as our children are older, but may be something to take into consideration if you have smaller children is the music from the pub next door. It does shut off at 11pm and 10pm on Sundays. Lovely place and lovely people that own it! Thanks for having us.

  • "The property is listed on your site as having 2 bathrooms , it only has one on the ground floor, the 2 twin bedrooms are up a flight and a half of fairly steep steps, so I would suggest this is added to the description."

To enter the property is at the rear and again really steep uneven steps up to the gate, then several shallow wider steps up to the entrance door, but then once you go in there is another full staircase that takes you up to the property, I feel the fact that there are so many steps to enter and in the property should be mentioned, as I had my 87 year old mum, who has a very weak heart and a pacemaker and my sister who suffers with asthma that both struggled with so many stairs, they were in the twin rooms which also meant having to go up and down the stairs for the bathroom

Thank you for your feedback. We have asked Sykes to add a note about the stairs on the listing. Property Owner
