• "We had a fantastic time at the property."

  It was so spacious and quirky we all loved it. Kitchen area was a great size, and all nice and clean on arrival. Beds were comfortable and spotless and bathroom was clean. No complaints even things like water pressure in sinks and showers were good and powerful so you can see no expense was spared here, everything is to an excellent quality. Highly recommended.

• "I booked Church Llygad Y Dyffryn for a much-needed break, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience."

  On arrival, the entrance was covered in bird droppings, and the door handle was missing a piece, making it awkward to get inside. It looked like this had been left unattended for quite some time. Walking into the church, my first impression was "wow" – it's a beautiful building with plenty of character. Sadly, that feeling quickly disappeared when I noticed how dirty it was. The floors were filthy, the kitchen cupboards were splattered with grime, food stains, wine marks and dust, and there were dead flies and dust throughout the property. The beds were clean, which was a relief, but the bedrooms were still very dusty and looked as though they hadn't been vacuumed for quite a while. The bathroom had plenty of clean towels, but the bath and shower screen were dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. I don't mind older, mismatched furniture if it's clean, but the whole place felt tired and neglected. I was so disappointed that I ended up cleaning myself. I wiped down the kitchen cupboards, cleaned the fridge, toaster, drawers and work surfaces, then cleaned the bathroom before I felt comfortable using it. On the second day, the boiler stopped working. I contacted the owner, who was helpful, and also mentioned the overall cleanliness of the property. We went out for a walk, and by the time we returned the boiler was working again. Sykes also offered to send a cleaner the following day, but the property needed far more than a couple of hours of cleaning – it really requires a thorough deep clean. The holiday never quite recovered after our first impressions, which was a real shame. On a positive note, the local area is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of lovely walks to enjoy. The church itself is a stunning building with so much potential. However, it would also benefit from a proper welcome book with a brief history of the church, information about local shops, takeaways and attractions, as well as details about the welcome pack, rather than just a few instruction manuals. Overall, the location and the building are wonderful, but the lack of cleanliness completely overshadowed our stay. With a thorough deep clean and a little more attention to detail, this could be an amazing place to stay

• "The cleanliness of the kitchen/dining area in particular let this property down."

  We had to clean the fridge (meat blood stains and remains from vegetables) before we could use it. Crumbs on other kitchen surfaces. Sand on dining table and dining chairs which again we had to clean before use. Dining area floor was clean apart from under the table.

• "When you step inside the church it takes your breath away."

  It is absolutely phenomenal. Such a massive open space with everything set out to accommodate a large group. The pool table and table tennis were an additional bonus for us ( A group of 8 women). Once we had stocked up on our food and belongings we didn't need to leave. What an amazing atmosphere. From relaxing on the settees to gathering around the large table we were all still able to be together in the large open plan downstairs. We all had the best experience and made memories to last a life time. We did have little problems that didn't really affect our stay , and I only highlight them as the owner may not be aware. There was no spatula to fry eggs , the cooker hod extraction fan didn't work and if affordable an additional toilet downstairs would be an additional bonus for a larger group. The stairs ( though very impressive) were a disadvantage when you needed the loo . There were no large glasses and not enough cooking utensils for a large group. As I said, this is not a criticism as it did not affect our enjoyment. The 3 bedrooms were comfortable and adequate for us . Plenty of towels and a very nice bathroom. I would highly recommend a stay if you want a quirky and peaceful place to stay. It goes without saying that this part of Wales is outstanding with its scenery and beautiful beaches. Plenty of walking on your doorstep with shops and cafes not to far away . We had the best weekend and would definitely go back. Thanks for allowing us to be able to stay in your outstanding church.

• "We had the best time!"

  A great base, a total one-off type property with loads of room. So many games and lots of entertainment with the pool table and ping pong. Everyone was very happy. Great memories and hopefully we will revisit in the future.

• "Stunning building and location which is let down by the cleanliness and finishes."

  We had a wonderful stay over New Year however there was a lot of dust and dirt on the floors and surfaces and loads of flies (dead and alive) which made it feel unclean. The bedding was clean but the towels were all musty smelling and needed washing before we could use them. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery and everything you need for your stay which was nice. The glasses needed washing before use. Plenty of bins for waste and recycling but we couldn't find any outside bins to put them in and no instructions left for us. The games tables are a nice touch and we're appreciated by our teenagers. Beds were all comfortable but the finishes in the upstairs rooms compared to the downstairs areas are poor. The walls are thin and you can hear each other and people using the toilet and shower. Bathroom was nice with everything you need and a powerful shower. Nice quiet area with shops not far away. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt it was let down by the cleaning and finishing touches which could easily be addressed by the owner.

Our cleaner only lives 5 mins away, so it's a shame you didn't contact us as we could have rectified any concerns. Regarding the bins our cleaner sorts the bins, but thank you for your feedback , we will make sure bin instructions are clearer for future guests. • "A fantastic holiday home!"

  The first impression when you walk through the door gives a true "WOW" moment, as you gaze at the vast and beautiful space. The host, Dorothy, has made everything available that you could think of and you are left wanting for nothing. It was clean, well maintained and wonderfully cozy when we arrived. Truly, a great get away which we are tempted to return to in the near future. Thank you so much for having us for the week in this fantastic space.

  We had a great stay very restful and peaceful amazing shower the pool table and table tennis are great way to pass a few hours of you have kids there are puzzles and games secure parking great places to eat short drives away we were 4 adults but it sleeps 8 a great family space

• "The listing states this is a wrap around garden which it is not."

  As I was taking dogs thought it was a secure garden but it was shared with the flat attached to the church and thr gate was open so had to watch the dogs at all times when outside. Part of the wall was down so the dogs were able to get onto the busy road and the grass banking in parts was nearly up to the top of the wall and the dogs were able to get onto the wall, therefore had to be kept on leads when outside. There was no ariel for the TV until Sunday afternoon which is not ideal and then we had to pick it up from a shop in the next village.

  Hi, following the storm which caused the wall damage, this has now been completely rectified. We have a new wall and lovely new gate and drive area, with a new patio area as well. We always advise that all gates should be shut at all times, and they are easily able to be closed if open. Thank you for calling me about the ariel missing , I was so pleased I could get a new one delivered out to you so quickly within 24 hrs and we are sorry that it wasn't in place when you arrived. After your stay we found the ariel under the bed upstairs so now we have a spare. Thank you Ellie Property Owner

• "We had a fantastic stay, the accommodation was roomy, clean and had great facilities."

  We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family! Would have appreciated some sort of welcome pack with instructions for heating, facilities/equipment, the local area and what we needed to do when we leave eg bins, dirty linen etc.

• "A very unique property for a perfect family getaway."

  Very spacious and the open plan layout downstairs was brilliant for allowing interaction amongst each other. The underfloor heating was an added bonus and the games tables kept the children and adults entertained for hours on end. Plenty of seating areas all throughout and ample space in the well designed kitchen. Two very spacious bedrooms and a nice cosy third. Spacious bathroom with fantastic shower. Located in an easy to get to spot with enough off road parking. The property is very well maintained and beautifully renovated We had a fantastic time with 6 of our children and we would definitely stay here again in the future
