  • "Once again, The Old Stables provided the perfect base from which to explore the delightful county of Pembrokeshire."

After venturing outside, it was always a real pleasure to return to such warm, welcoming accommodation, so thoughtfully fitted out and maintained by Gill, the owner. Nothing was spared and we can heartily recommend The Old Stables for anyone wanting a truly relaxing experience in real comfort.

  • "A comfortable, well equipped, clean and tidy bolt-hole on the outskirts of the town."

A quiet location but within a few minutes walk of the town centre and ideal for a retired couple such as ourselves, walking sections of the coast path. The 'snug' on the upper floor is a nice feature but take care, it's only reachable by an almost ladder like staircase. Overall though, one of the best cottages we've stayed in.

  • "The Old Stables was very comfortable."

..just one or two things. There was not TV in the loft bedroom as stated in the details. There was no detailed information in the property itself. Leaflets about places to visit etc but that was all. Usually local information in all other properties we've stayed in. We took the bedding off & put it all in the bathroom hoping that was OK. Otherwise a lovely property ☺️

Fishguard is a lovely dog friendly place where pretty much all the cafes, shops and restaurants allow dogs in . We were planning to book more stays here as we like to come three times a year if possible but we’re saddened to find that dogs are no longer welcome at the Old Stables which has left us looking for some alternative accommodation somehow

A few little extras in the kitchen would be nice, garlic press, cafetière, a few oven proof cooking dishes, very basic kitchen, but workable. The internet was very poor, unable to use any iPlayer Chanel’s, kept chucking us out. Netflicks would have been nice. Lovely welcome package which is always appreciated. Better directions on finding the property would be welcome, trying to find a pink house in the dark wasn’t easy.

Not hugely important but would be good to add kitchen scissors and a mixing jug. Absolutely wonderful location, but the cottage itself didn’t suit us due to lack of outdoor space.

Had everything that we needed for a very comfortable stay. Perfectly placed for exploring the west Wales and Pembrokeshire coastline which is beautiful. We all loved the welcome pack, it was appreciated by everyone including our dog! We also thought that Fishguard was a really friendly town with lots of interesting walks and pubs. At the end of a long day we had a lovely base to come back to you with comfortable sofas and a very comfortable bed. We would definitely like to come back for another stay.

  • "As soon as I walked into The Old Stables I felt instantly at home and was very comfortable there in no time at all."

Cleanliness was excellent and everything you could possibly want for your stay was provided (note, there is no washing machine but that wasn't a problem for me). The wifi was good and streaming on the smart tv was faultless. The mobile signal was fine (I'm with Plusnet/EE) but it worked better in the bedroom. Although the available outdoor 'garden' space is small, it is still very pleasant to sit out there and appreciate the views across the allotments to the sea and Dinas Head ... and the birds singing too. A much appreciated welcome pack of wine and welsh cakes, plus milk, was provided. It's only a 10min walk into the town with a decent pub (Royal Oak) and takeaways nearby. There is a large Coop supermarket 5mins away by car. The Old Stables is a great base for touring Pembrokeshire, with most places you'd want to visit within a half hour drive, and Tenby is only an hour away. I spent a very happy week here and can highly recommend The Old Stables.

The cottage was just what we needed for a short break. The old harbour of Lower Town in Fishguard was a revelation, perfect to sit at the end of the day and watch the sun disappear, it was hard to believe there was a ferry port beyond the headland. Perfect place to relax.
