  • “We have stayed in lots of lodges on this park over the last 5 years but this lodge rated 5 stars was actually not up to expectations.”

On arrival when we opened the door the place smelt very unpleasant like stale cooking smells. The patio doors were covered in finger marks and the cooker had a Teflon sheet in the bottom of the oven which was covered in grease. The double bedroom the bedding smelt most unpleasant of other peoples BO. Luckily we took our own pillows because of the COVID situation but I wish we had also taken our own bedding. Considering that you have to vacate the lodge by 9 am and cannot enter until 5 pm because of the changeover cleaning it certainly was not up to expectations. And we would not return to this lodge again.

This lodge boasts a wonderful, well-equipped kitchen with a central island and breakfast bar, ideal for grabbing a quick coffee in the morning to put a spring in your step for the day ahead.

The whole group can enjoy meals around the dining table or perhaps, spread the map out and all gather around to see where to tick off during your break away.

The sitting area is a wonderful space for catching up with your group or for gathering together in front of the cosy, modern, electric fire to watch a film before heading to bed in one of the two delightful bedrooms.

The double room boasts an en-suite shower room and the twin room enjoys a fantastic walk-in wardrobe.

The main bathroom completes the accommodation and means there is plenty of space for everyone to get ready in the morning.

The sitting area also has two sets of French doors out onto the decked veranda, the perfect spot for seeing out the last few rays of sunshine in the evening with a refreshing drink and enjoying the open aspect views over the site.

Nearby is the town of Kilgetty where you'll find shops, a pub and restaurants to enjoy when you fancy a night off from cooking.

Amroth 1 mile; Saundersfoot 4 miles; Tenby 6.5 miles; Narberth 7 miles; Pembroke 10.8 miles.

Once home to both coal and iron mines, Stepaside is now a holiday hamlet with a few houses pubs and restaurants. This valley was a hive of industrial activity from the 14th to the 19th century as it was an integral part of the Pembrokeshire coal field. It’s hard to imagine that now, as very little remains apart from the old ironworks at Stepaside and the railway tunnels between Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot. There were 12 collieries working in this area at its heyday. The whole of Pembrokeshire beckons with the harbour and seaside resorts of Amroth just 15 minutes’ walk away, Tenby and Saundersfoot close by, visit secluded sandy beaches, such as the acclaimed Barafundle Bay for a quiet relaxing day, or take in an invigorating walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast National Path. Enjoy a boat trip to Caldey Island and its monastery, or to Skomer, which is renowned for its puffins. For the most adventurous, extreme watersports await, whilst golfers can take the challenge of Tenby's famous links course. The nearby town of Narberth is a delight to discover with its many individual shops, including upmarket boutiques, specialist deli grocers and unique gift shops, and a wide choice of restaurants, bistros and pubs can be found in and around the town. Queen's Hall, Narberth's leading cultural and arts venue hosts a variety of concerts, plays and events, which can be enjoyed throughout the year. A perfect holiday base at any time of year.
