  • "The cottage was so clean for us on arrival that we went out and bought a tub of chocolates for the cleaners."

A truly beautiful cottage and perfect for our needs, everyone loved it immensely, and even non cat lovers were converted by the very persistent, but beautifully mannered cat. Solstice on Thursday evening saw us use the fire pit in the awesome garden to make a great fire to roast marshmallows and chill. (as well as the sand bucket available we had a bucket of water at hand to control / put out the fire) Extensive fun use of the tennis court and many of us found the walks around the grounds sensational, especially the very old rhododendrons! Saw deer, hares, bats, an eagle, the resident peacock / peahen and a PINE MARTEN! My wife was in heaven. The information provided by the owners in a booklet and signs in the kitchen was totally complete, with instruction manuals for everything in a kitchen drawer. To be honest since looking on Sykes cottages and downloading the app EVERYTHING went fantastically well, exactly as described. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!

Thank you for being such thoughtful guests, the housekeeping team were very happy with their chocolates! So kind of you. Many thanks for such a lovely review, we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Blackhills in Garden Cottage. We look forward to welcoming you back! Property Owner

  • "The cottage was perfect for our group ."

..beautiful gardens to walk in and lovely views from all windows...the friendly cat was there to greet us each day though think it very disappointied we didn't feed as told bit it's a trier lol and Pete the Peacock was there each day to show off his plumage...he did like one of the cars as he rested on the roof each day...we regularly saw deer...hares.. pheasants pass the house which was wonderful. ..the garden was a quiet retreat to Sir in in evening after our walks along the Moray coast ..only gripe were the dirt tracks to cottage had big potholes was pretty awful driving each day ...but would still return as we all loved the cottage had everything we needed

Thank you for your lovely feedback and so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Garden Cottage. It’s been a fabulous year for the rhododendron flowering. We look forward to seeing you at Blackhills again! Property Owner

  • "Besides a little scare with the cottage being doubled booked, allegedly, the cottage is wonderful and the accommodations modern to our surprise."

The picture on the website doesn't represent well how this cottage is beautiful inside and out.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, so pleased you enjoyed the cottage. We are looking at how we can improve the website picture. As you say it doesn’t do the cottage justice. We look forward to welcoming you back to Blackhills! Property Owner

  • "Hi The property was perfect for us with 3 couples and 4 children aged 9-16."

The only downside was that there were quite a few cobwebs throughout and dirty dishes which needed washed before utilising. We pulled in the chair from the middle porch to provide more spacious seating. If I could make any constructive suggestions, they are: Wood too big to go in the stove; Comfier seating at the kitchen table would make this another great space to be together; More cutlery eg there were only 9 dining knives. It’s a beautiful secluded area and we would definitely consider returning in the future. All the best for 2023. Kelly

Happy you enjoyed your stay at Blackhills, it’s a special place. Thank you for your comments, always useful. We are now cutting wood into smaller pieces that better fit the stoves. You should have found your cottage well stocked with ample clean cutlery, crockery, glasses…I’m not sure where yours had disappeared to and can only apologise. Next time you stay, please do shout as we’re only next door and can easily pop over with supplies or whatever’s needed. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future! Property Owner

  • "Garden Cottage is a lovely holiday home in a wonderfully peaceful setting."

Very private with beautiful grounds and a superb garden. The cottage is old and full of character, with a lot of space. It was clean and comfortable, with most modern facilities for cooking and washing. An abunndance of activities available in the area. Criticisms? Two bathrooms for 10 people is a bit of a challenge, and the lounge could be a squeeze. But I would still strongly recommend this venue.

Thank you for your lovely review and so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Garden Cottage. We look forward to seeing you again at Blackhills! Property Owner
