  • "Hands down the best of all the accommodations I've booked through Sykes."

    Spotless (looked and smelled brand new), beautifully decorated, well equipped (literally had every crockery, utensil, appliance, linen, etc. you could want), very spacious, and importantly quiet. Checking in and out was smooth, the guest guidebook was detailed and clear, and everything just worked without issue. This was all embellished considerably by the complimentary bottles of milk and water as well as eggs, cake, and biscuit provided. And the host, Sharon, was very welcoming, helpful, and considerate. I couldn't recommend Avemar highly enough and would love to visit again.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very impressed with the cottage."

    However,I found the cooker difficult to operate particularly the oven.Too complicated! May I also Suggest handgrips in the shower.In the interest of health and safety these are a must where wet surfaces are involved.They should be compulsory in all bath/shower rooms.

  • "Wow we were blown away by how lovely Avemar was."

    Situated in a peaceful setting with lovely views and the local self service farm shop only a few steps away. Very spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for a great relaxing stay. Tastefully decorated with lovely furnishings and a great comfortable bed. The shower was great with good water pressure.Situated with great harbours and towns to explore with breathtaking scenery. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again . Milk, fresh eggs and a lovely homemade lemon cake was awaiting us on arrival and Sharon the host was very friendly and welcoming. Thank you

  • "Another wonderful stay at Avemar."

    This is a wonderful cottage in an excellent location approx 5 minutes drive from Fochabers and 10 mins from Buckie. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a holiday. The sheltered back door is an absolute sun trap and we enjoyed sitting relaxing here in the evening. Sharon is very friendly and helpful and kindly left us freshly baked biscuits that were delicious, milk, eggs and water. We can’t wait to return in 4 weeks, it’s wonderful and a little piece of paradise in Moray ♥️

  • "We had a super stay at Avmar, as we were visiting relatives and seeing sights we have not seen for 10 years."

    The property was ideal place to stay and in excellent condition and Sharon was a friendly and helpful host, we would use the property again if we visit the area again.

  • "Avemar is a beautiful house just a short drive from both Buckie and Fochabers and ideally situated for seeing all the wonderful sights in Moray and Aberdeenshire."

    Sharon is a lovely host and left us fresh eggs, milk and freshly baked lemon loaf. We had a very nice welcome and everything in the house is perfect. Avemar is spotless and is extremely comfortable, the beds and pillows are great and we all slept really well. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need and the bath and shower were fantastic with high pressure and lots of hot water. The living room is very comfortable and has amazing views over the countryside. There is a beautiful sheltered area at the back door that catches the afternoon sun. This is just the most wonderful house and you feel perfectly at home here. Can’t wait to return in July. Thank you so much Sharon we really appreciate your hospitality.

Just a short stroll from the friendly local pub and woodland walks from the doorstep, this delightful retreat offers off-road parking for two cars, making it an ideal escape for families and friends seeking seaside serenity.

Upon entering this single-storey abode, you will be greeted by a spacious kitchen/diner, fully-equipped with all the essentials for a self-catered stay.

Here, you can gather at the dining table to enjoy home-cooked meals, or plan the day's adventures over a hearty breakfast.

The sitting room, complete with a TV and a warming woodburning stove, offers a snug spot to unwind after a day of exploration.

Sink into the plush seating and lose yourself in a good book, or tune into your favourite shows for a relaxing evening in.

As the day draws to a close, retire to one of the two family rooms, each boasting a super king-size bed which can be unzipped made into twin beds on request, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for all.

Elgin 9 miles.

The highly attractive village of Fochabers is situated to the east of the River Spey. A key point along the Speyside Way (long distance path from Buckie to Aviemore), visitors stopping off can marvel at the fine selection of architecture which adorns the village. The Georgian church on the south side of the square is especially striking, complete with its clock-tower dated 1798. In the nearby village of Mosstodloch is Baxters food processing factory, a family-run company that has been operating in the area since 1868. Dolphins can often be seen playing at sea along this stretch of Scottish coastline, and ospreys can be found fishing for food for their young who nest in the tall pine trees. A superb location for enjoying the great outdoors!
