  • "What a place to be snowed in with friends in the New Year."

Perfect. All the details covered. Brilliantly equipped kitchen, enough logs to keep the fire burning without the usual 'You can buy more logs at the petrol station' and without wishing to be pedantic, enough loo rolls, enough dishwasher tablets, enough cleaning products, beautiful bedding and uplifting locally roasted coffee beans... all the things that can easily be right but usually aren't, along with Rachael, the super 'host' ever on hand, particularly with spades to dig our cars out. And all this without mentioning the walks, the views, the wildlife, and The Mar Lodge Estate. Nick

Dear Nick, Thank you for sharing your thoughtful and detailed review. We’re really pleased that your stay with friends during a snowy start to 2026 was such an enjoyable one. It’s great to know that the house, the fire, the kitchen and those other small but very important essentials took care of the practical details so that you were able to make the most of the walks, wildlife and the wider Mar Lodge Estate. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you all back in the future, in any season! Warm regards, The team at Claybokie Property Owner

  • "This house was an incredible to host Christmas with my whole family of 10."

It has the kind of views that make you look forward to sunrise every morning. It’s tucked away in a secluded wood with the river Dee winding past outside. We spotted deer wondering along the river while having our morning coffee. There is some amazing walking right from the front door. Rachael, who looks after the property, really made our stay. From the thoughtful gifts for my one year old’s birthday to dropping off more firewood. She was always on hand if we needed anything yet also gave us our space. I can’t recommend Claybokie highly enough.

Dear Oscar, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We’re so pleased that Claybokie provided such a memorable setting for your family Christmas and that you were able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, beautiful views, and riverside wildlife. Seeing deer along the river really is something special, especially with a morning coffee in hand. We’re especially glad to hear how well looked after you felt during your stay. Rachael will be delighted to know her care and attention, from the birthday surprise to keeping the firewood topped up, made a difference. Thank you so much for your kind recommendation. • "On arrival at Claybockie we were immediately struck by the picturesque panoramas - one could not hope for better surroundings."

On entering the property we were impressed by the standard of the property. Each and every room appeared larger in life than the photos implied. Each tastefully decorated getting the balance between class and homeliness wonderfully. The kitchen was well equipped despite the aga being out of action. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious allowing each and everyone of us to relax and unwind. From getting up in the morning, enjoying morning coffee watching the deer crossing the river to enjoying our evening meals in the classical dining room, each moment was a delight. If we were to try and pick fault, then the only thing we could mention is that the TV could have been larger. But who wants to watch TV when you can look out of the windows at the beautiful wonders of creation! We would certainly consider another holiday at Claybokie.

Dear Jean, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the setting and found the house comfortable and welcoming. It is great to know that the views, décor, and peaceful surroundings helped make your stay special. Watching the deer by the river is truly one of our favourite moments here as well! We appreciate your understanding regarding the Aga and we are pleased that the kitchen still served your needs. Your feedback about the television is helpful. We will certainly also take this into consideration for future improvements. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and we hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Claybokie in the future. Warm Regards, The team at Claybokie Property Owner
