We had a lovely time.

The village is scenic and there are some good walks and decent beaches nearby. The house was enormous so plenty of room for us and the dogs. It was warm, dry and comfortable and there was everything that we could have wanted on hand; washing machine, dryer, air-fryer, wi-fi, extra blankets and bedding, towels etc, etc (sadly, no knife sharpener!). The property is a little dated, but that is not a criticism, purely an observation. We were very comfortable and look forward to booking again next year!

A lovely spacious house with everything you need for a self catering holiday.

It's close to family so we will use it again.

Sorry this review is a few days overdue!

After a wonderful, relaxing break, life was back at 110 miles per hour as soon as we got home. I honestly cannot recommend Holly Hoose highly enough. I’ll admit, when I first found the property on another website and noticed there weren’t any reviews, I was a little worried it might be too good to be true. Thankfully, I did some digging and decided to book—and I’m so glad I did. The house itself has a more traditional style of décor, but for us, that was actually a huge plus. Travelling with children and a Doberman, I often find it difficult to fully relax in places that are brand new and immaculate because I’m constantly worrying about every little thing. Holly Hoose felt welcoming, comfortable, and somewhere the whole family could truly unwind. The rooms are incredibly spacious, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and that’s saying something because we usually travel with our own pillows—but I didn’t even need mine! The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need. I’d packed a few extras just in case, but they stayed in the bag. There were plenty of books, games, and puzzles too, with my son particularly enjoying the jigsaw collection. Our dog absolutely loved the secure garden. One thing that deserves a special mention is the hot water. Anyone travelling with teenage girls will understand the struggle of hair-wash days away from home, but we had no issues at all. Plenty of hot water and no waiting around! The location is simply stunning. Every day brought beautiful beach walks, coastal trails, and a choice of sandy and pebble beaches. The harbour pub quickly became a favourite—we may have visited once or twice! We also highly recommend Humble Burger in Elgin, which was absolutely divine and well worth a stop on the way back from Aviemore. Speaking of Aviemore, it is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places we’ve ever visited. The absolute highlight of the week, though, was during an evening walk along the local beach. While enjoying the scenery (and perhaps after a visit to the Admiral Pub!), we were lucky enough to spot a pod of wild dolphins. It was a truly spectacular sight and one I’ll never forget. Before I make myself too depressed that I’m not still there, I’ll finish by saying that Holly Hoose was worth every penny. It was a perfect holiday for our family, and without question, it’s a 10/10 from us. We will definitely be back!
