Braehead Croft

Braehead croft is an excellent holiday cottage.

The literature in the cottage says it is the oldest house in Portessie but it has been beautifully extended to provide comfortable accommodation with all the facilities needed for an enjoyable holiday. It has a lovely position overlooking the sea and the coastal road below. The only blip related to the television where we were unable to access the terrestrial channels (twice) but that was quickly fixed by the very helpful owner on both occasions. On a point of detail, There is plenty of storage space (as there were just two of us), but storage is not always in the most convenient place. There is little free space in the kitchen and what there might be, contains jigsaws and games. While these are appreciated, it does not seem to be the best use of space. Similarly there are a lot of ornaments and artificial flowers which take up free space, including in the shower rooms where space is at a premium. We would be happy to return.

This was our 19th visit over 14 years since 2012, so that speaks volumes on how much we like to stay here.

Our dogs have all loved the garden, and we enjoy the views and the seating area outside on the patio area when the sun shines. There was a fabulous display by a big pod of dolphins a day after we arrived and a seagull who liked to bang on both the french doors and the blue bedroom window, to get attention - obviously someone had been feeding it. The Jackdaws on the lawn each morning where like little clowns and always a joy to watch. I will never tire of the view and the sight of the setting sun over the Moray Firth. Lovely accommodation in a great area with great local shops just a short distance away. Loved the walrus post box topper near the fish shop by the harbour. All in all another great stay. .

The property had everything we needed: Brilliant WiFi - one of us had to do some work; comfy sofa and chairs that reclined; wonderful views from the house and gardens; all kitchen equipment apart from a dryer.

Having 3 bathrooms was great as we had 3 generations. (We did have to bring our own cot and high chair which is fair enough.) We had 7 days of perfect weather so was able to make full use of the outside - the garden was perfect for a small child and we ate every meal on the sheltered patio.

We absolutely loved Braehead Croft.

We noticed that there was a new carpet, sofas and chairs in the lounge which was an improvement to the ones that are currently shown in the booking information. Perhaps update your photo of the lounge? The accommodation was well stocked and presented. There was plenty information about the Croft and the area around it. We have booked to go again in September so this is testament to how we much we enjoyed staying at Braehead Croft.

A very pleasant and relaxing stay we were there for 4weeks for our 50th wedding anniversary and enjoyed every day and have book again for next year and that will be our ninth year we have stayed .

On arrival noticed the property was next to a community hall so wondered about noise etc, as it transpired nothing to bother about noise wise, but occasionally due to parked cars it was a bit difficult to see traffic when turning out of the drive, but again not much of a problem.

Some people may think the decor in the cottage is slightly dated, but it suits the property nicely. There was a draught coming the window in the blue bedroom, but it was blowing a howling gale. The only other thing was the seal on the oven door could do with replacing. Having mentioned those few quite minor things everything else we were more than happy with clean ,Warm, comfortable, fantastic sea views, brilliant base for the area, excellent Chinese takeaway, and a chippy in the next village. Would we stay again? Undoubtedly YES.

Braehead is a super, comfortable house with wonderful views.

It is so quiet,clean and well equipped. The owner explained everything on arrival.

This was our 17th visit to Braehead Croft.

Such lovely accommodation in a beautiful area. The 180o seaview is a major selling point, along with comfortable seating and great facilities. Sadly the dolphins didn't put on a show for us or the Orca, but it was sunny or at least dry enough to make use of the patio area. As usual Mr Smith had a lovely display of bedding plants in the garden.

Absolutely fantastic views over the sea from just about every cottage window at the back including the sitting room and all the bedrooms.

The very large rear garden which is grassed is easily made secure. We have a Welsh Terrier and could let him out to run around without any concerns. There is a lovely clifftop walk to the west and 100 yards along the road to the east there is a path leading down to the beach and rock pools. The sunsets are really lovely too.

A beautiful and comfortable holiday home.

It had everything you would need for self catering, it was like an Aladdin’s cave finding supplies in drawers, cling film etc, games, books, spices. The home is lovely and spacious, beautiful sea views from all the rooms, able to prepare meal in kitchen and look out at the changing sea view. There is also a very large back grassed garden, and a lovely sheltered seated patio area. Our host was tending the lovely front garden when we arrived, and was full of info for us, to help with our stay. Added bonus is off street parking, car can sit right in front of the house, which is situated back from the road. I was aware that the garden was not fully enclosed from other reviews, which wasn’t a problem for us, as our dog does not wander off, but as others have suggested, a small gate at the side of the house would be the icing on the cake for this property. Mr and Mrs Smith, we had a relaxing time staying at your house, and would 100% recommend

This was our 16th visit and every stay is lovely.

One of the best places we have ever stayed, as you can tell. There was a new suite in the living room, and everything was perfect. The weather was also very kind to us...but only saw the resident dolphins once. We have travelled large proportions of Scotland but will always enjoy returning to Portessie and this fabulous cottage with its wonderful views of the Moray Firth. Mr Smith looks after the garden and is always busy improving the cottage and the surrounding area.

We found this property exactly as advertised.

Well furnished, comfortable and cleanliness excellent. The location is stunning with un-interupted views out to the North Sea. A fully enclosed garden for our small dog would have been the icing on the cake. My two friends from Norfolk and I agree that this is the best holiday accommodation that we have stayed in over the number of years that we have been meeting up. Thank you to Mr & Mrs Smith for providing us with an excellent base for our holiday.

This was a perfect place for us to stay.

Everything we needed was provided and we were very comfortable. I have a disability, use a crutch and had no issues getting around the property or using the facilities there. The owners should mention having an electric reclining chair and plugs with USB ports as these were definitely unexpected bonuses and made our stay so much more pleasant. Thank you. Would I love to come back again soon.

Bareheaded Croft is a lovely warm and well appointed cottage.

Spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could need, including binoculars to enjoy the uninterrupted view of the sea. Huge fenced-in garden to the rear which the dog loved and plenty off road parking at the front which the car loved. Excellent base to explore the region with cafe Bijou within easy walking distance and Cullen, Buckie and Findochy within easy reach. Leslie made us very much at home.

We loved our time at Breahead Croft.

Everything was so clean and comfortable,the kitchen was very well equipped. We met and spoke with Mr. Smith who was a lovely man, very helpful and great stories on the history of the Croft. Our dog Charlie loved the large garden, and the view and sunsets were spectacular! Breahead Croft was the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve stayed in many. Thank you and we hope to return soon.

Well equipped cottage overlooking the sea and the sunsets never disappoint.

Furniture starting to look a bit tired but very comfortable.

This was our 16th visit to the Croft and as usual everything was lovely and clean and very welcoming.

Mr Smith was there to greet us, and as usual was busy planting summer bedding plants, and maintaining the garden. It is clear he really takes pride in everything. We couldn't fault the accommodation, even though the weather did let us down, it won't put us off and can't wait to return again in the future. The Moray Firth dolphins gave us a nice display and all in all its always sad to leave, Portessie and the fabulous views. Our Border Collie loves the back garden and sulks when we clear up and pack at the end of our stay.

An excellent holiday cottage.

This was our second visit and would definitely come again. The only downside is that it is a 7 hour journey from Bolton, otherwise we would be here more often! Very helpful owners. Amazing situation. Thank you for a great 2 weeks. It would be extremely helpful if there were a couple of gates to secure the garden for the dog, but that is a minor point.

Another great stay at this property,the weather could have been nicer ,but the property was warm and cosy with great views.

A great cottage.

The house was clean, comfortable and cosy and the kitchen was one of the best equipped we’ve had. Well supplied with dishwasher tabs, extra towels and toilet rolls etc. Amazing views and on a lovely plot of land. We had a lovely holiday…thank you!

Our 1st visit was in Feb 2022 as a family of 4adults n 1 infant, 1 toddler n 1 daft pooch, amazingly spacious, huge garden (that we didnt realise was open at either side at this time), beautifully clean, homely n warm, easy access to local shops, fantastic views, regardless of weather, look at sunset and sunrise, only thing missing was a slow cooker, so i bought one whilst there, this 2nd visit was just me, hubby n pooch, everything was the same property wise, perfect, took slow cooker from last visit n meant to leave it behind but hubby packed it away before i got chance to hide it in a space

The holiday property was great .

Plenty of room . The kitchen was well equipped. Toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets etc all provided - thank you.

Beautiful views in a croft that has been lovingly preserved and maintained.

Facilities excellent and we had stunning sunsets to the west, which could be seen from the lounge and patio area and would be fabulous in warmer weather when dining outside.

Braehead Croft is an ideal place for a holiday base.

It has the most wonderful views overlooking the Morey Firth. It is well equipped and very clean.and we enjoyed our stay. It's a shame that the week we want next year is already booked. We are pleased to say we saw dolphins, binoculars are provided.

A comfy, clean, well-equipped cottage with extensive sea views .

It’s well placed to explore the Moray coast and the Cairngorms too, so lots of great scenery- we had some amazing walks and enjoyed returning to relax at Braehead .

This is a lovely comfortable house and it is very well equipped.

It is in a great location and has a lovely garden to relax in with fantastic views. It is ideally situated to explore the Moray Coast and surrounding areas without having to travel too far in any direction. 3 bedrooms and bathrooms and a large garden make it a perfect choice for families and anyone taking a canine companion with them. I would highly recommend this cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a fabulous two weeks at Braehead Croft.

It was week 15 & 16 of our visits to this accommodation since 2012 (An additional 2 weeks were cancelled due to lockdowns) so you can tell we like staying here. The views are always fantastic and ever changing. December was a great time to visit. (After our July week was spoilt by all the 'staycationers'! - We go to Scotland to escape but people were everywhere!) Weather was unfashionably mild and dry for the most part, and any rain mainly fell overnight! We loved it, especially our Border Collie, Molly. She gets so excited when she sees that big garden to run up and down in. The beaches only had a few dog walkers so it was paradise.

Another great stay loved it that much already re booked for March

Really had fantastic stay, will definitely stay again really enjoyed the cottage views fantastic and cottage just I would update the sofa as my mum who is registered disabled struggle to get off the chairs and sofa there is 1 higher chair but that has seen better days, this cottage was welcoming and comfortable really enjoyed staying.

WiFi is good addition to the cottage as well. Overall fantastic cottage.

Braehead Croft is old fashioned in decor but very comfortable and homely.

Set in lovely gardens, there is plenty of parking on its large private drive. It is a very well equipped and extremely clean cottage with wonderful, peaceful, uninterrupted views over the Moray Firth. We had a lovely stay and will return

We had a fabulous stay at Braehead Croft.

Our 14th visit. It would have been 15th if it hadn't have been for covid, so I think that says it all! Whatever the weather we always have a lovely stay. The cottage is really clean, well equipped and well looked after. The views are fantastic. Even in the rain. We saw a pod of at least 20 dolphins on Friday evening, just as the sun was setting. The Moray Firth was like a millpond, it was so calm. A great place to recharge from life and work. Can't wait to return. The dog went into a complete sulk, the moment we started to pack to come home and she's fallen out with us!

The cottage is very clean, and very well equipped, the owners have thought of everything.

The views are spectacular and you can see the sea from every room. We already knew the area, as we have family there, but for anyone thinking of going for a relaxing break, we would thoroughly recommend it.

This was our second visit to the cottage and it was just as good as it was last year, clean cosy and with great views.

This was our 13th visit to the Croft.

It's like a home from home for us. The view of the Moray Firth from the windows is awe inspiring, whatever the weather. They had unfortunately had lots of rain prior to our visit and the grass hadn't been cut for a few weeks - it appeared. This made it awkward having dogs, clearing up and we kept losing the dogs ball even though it was red! This didn't spoil anything, the weather was quite kind in that we only had light rain and for the most part it was a dry and mainly cloudy week. We didn't get many beach walks in due to the tide times. However our border collie had plenty of exercise running around the garden. We didn't see any dolphins but there were seals a plenty in the bay near the former Portessie swimming pool. Also, we were lucky enough to see the new aircraft carrier Prince Charles as we left Edinburgh a week earlier and there it was out in the Moray Firth. Another piece of British history to be proud of. You can never fail to leave here feeling relaxed. The sun even shone as we left, beckoning us to return again soon. We are back in June 20.

Cottage was equipped with everything you needed.

Lots of beaches and places to walk. Extensive well maintained garden which is good if weather is nice in evening. Cottage is a good size so there is plenty of room.

Braehead Croft is a wonderful holiday home.

We had expected a smallish property but the space inside just kept growing! The views from the house were amazing, sunsets over the Moray Firth and views to Caithness on a clear morning. The property is very well equipped and extremely clean, not easy in mid season. A large garden space both at the front and rear of the cottage was ideal for our grandchild and boisterous labrador. So many different walk right from the property and a great play park beside the primary school. Our three generation family had a great holiday.

This was our 12th visit to Braehead and as ever, we had a great time.

Weather could've been better but even if we had showers during the day, there was a fabulous sunset. Saw dolphins, seals and the occasional cruise ship - lol! The new fence and gate around the side was a welcome improvement, although we did see the local kids run into the garden, one day and vault over the fence. I can see why the original was broken. Can't wait to return end of September.

The cottage is lovely, spacious and airy.

Wonderful views of the coast just outside Buckie. Very large rear garden, ideal for youngsters to run around in. Garden at the front was well kept and very pretty. The cottage was nice and warm when the weather turned chilly. Well equipped with all you would need for a long stay or short.

This was our second visit to Braehead cottage , it sits on top of a hill overlooking the Moray Firth and provides a lovely home from home feel.

The coastline is ruggedly beautiful , and is a photographers dream. Lots of places to see and lots of places to eat. Highly recommended.

The cottage was very homey and comfortable although the ensuite bath rooms was very small they are ok .

the onley thing that bothers us is the towels they were old and not soft. Mr smith is a very nice man and evey thing we need was in the house and more than enough for ower stay

Fabulous hot weather and swam in the sea in Portessie most days.

This was our 11th visit and as usual the cottage was spotlessly clean. Mr Smith greeted us on arrival, working tirelessly on the front garden, with new bedding plants and roses. We can't fault the accommodation or the area and we have already booked for next year.

The location of the croft excellent and the croft itself was excellent everything you need is there .

When we saw it was named Braehead Croft, we expected it to be in the country side, it is surrounded by houses.

It is the best house we have stayed in. Does need extra bedding provided. The entrance to the driveway can sometimes get blocked, by people parking across the entrance, when visiting the Hall next door. It has great views of the sea, but do not lean on the fence, as it is weak, as the property is at the top of a hill, and looks down on to the rooftops of other houses.

Excellent facilities.

Great accomadation, very handy for playing golf . Beautiful views over the bay and beyond. Hoping to book later this year again.
