  • "A wonderful family break in the beautiful white cottage."

Clear directions made it easy to reach the cottage and to access the keys. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable.. and so, so peaceful! Plenty to do on the estate and surrounding areas, beautiful walks and wildlife practically in the garden. Roe deer, red squirrels, osprey.. and of course the super friendly and handsome cat (the biggest problem was keeping this friendly boy out of the cottage!). Everyone we bumped into on the estate were welcoming, helpful and full of information on the area.. and John's pottery is exquisite and well worth checking out. The only problem with our stay was a week just wasn't long enough to enjoy this wonderful little jewel.. although we plan to rectify that by returning next year, but for a fortnight this time.

So pleased you had a great stay in White Cottage at Blackhills and thank you for your lovely review. Glad you had the opportunity to visit John’s on site pottery showroom. We very much look forward to seeing you soon! Property Owner

  • "Not our first choice as original booking cancelled by Sykes!"

Beautiful, peaceful location but the house needs a good deep clean, carpets, furniture etc. my daughter bought a mop and cleaning products to scrub the bathrooms which were cleaner when we left than when we arrived. No excuse for that. New mattresses would improve the accommodation and a general update. Despite those things, we enjoyed our stay and would give it another go if the cleanliness improved

Thank you for your feedback and so pleased you enjoyed the beautiful grounds. Unfortunately we were not made aware that you were unhappy with the housekeeping. This is a shame as we use a local professional cleaning company who take pride in their work and would have come back immediately if they knew of any issues. We are onsite as are estate workers to assist with any guest queries, and we invite and hope that guests feel able to reach out during their stay. Property Owner

  • "We initially booked a week and we were lucky to manage to get an extra week booked after speaking to the owner and finding out about a cancellation."

The cottage is wonderful and so peaceful the estate gardens are beautiful to walk through. I love that the dogs had full access to a safe and secure garden. The only recommendation we would have would be a bigger fridge freeze. We were just two people and we struggled to get a weeks worth of food in the fridge and small freezer, other than that we loved this cottage so much that before we left we booked for another week in May 2024 and cannot wait to return.

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review of your experience staying at White Cottage, and for being such great guests. Guest feedback is always useful, we’re working out a way of fitting in a larger freezer which can be a challenge in these traditional cottages. Very much looking forward to your return to Blackhills!
