  • "NOT DOG FRIENDLY , Although Gosfield cottage is lovely and an ideal location as the other 2 reviews from August state it is NOT DOG FRIENDLY!"

I telephoned Best of Suffolk to check twice after seeing each review appear in August as I had already booked and paid to stay in October. Both times I was told dogs are allowed in the lounge just not on the furniture which is fair. However on arrival there is a framed poster stating dogs must be kept in the kitchen at all times behind the stair gate ....I have taken a photo of said poster.

  • "We were happy with the pet restricted areas, as our own dog isn't allowed in the lounge or upstairs, but this wasn't clear at booking and can see it putting some renters off."

It was clear from the lounge that some people do ignore this rule as found dog hairs.... Shower needs fixing to turn off properly. All in all a great property and location, would go there again. Parking an issue, but public car park 300m away and £4 all day.... No probs for us....

  • "Lovely holiday."

Great location in the middle of Aldeburgh. We have been so lucky with the weather too. So many great places - Orford, Walberswick, Snape, Framlingham - great! And very comfortable cottage.

  • "The property should not be advertised as pet friendly."

On arrival we discovered that dogs must be left in the kitchen at all times, separated by a baby gate. This is pet cruel not friendly and I would not have booked if this was known. I have a small, hypoallergenic, cockerpoo who does not moult. I had him groomed and bathed the morning of arrival. I bring bedding, blankets, towels and he is cleaned after his business and if it’s wet or dirty outside. He is cleaner than many humans. He has separation anxiety and I would not dream of locking him in a room at home while I am there let alone a strange environment. There was no trace of him being there and we left the cottage in excellent condition.

  • "Thank you for asking for feedback."

Gosfieild Cottage is a rather tired property on the High Street. Overall I did enjoy the stay, but there really is room for improvement. The property has been modernised but I would suggest not recently. There is paint peeling and generally the feel is a somewhat tired property which is a real shame as it has the potential to be much better. The listing suggests it dog friendly, but on arrival it states dogs much be restricted to the kitchen, this should be stated on then details as I would not call that dog friendly. The cleaning was poor and it does need a deep clean, cobwebs and dust we easy to see on harder to reach areas. Maintenance is required, small things like the kitchen tap turns on its mounting and the shower riser comes out. I would class the cottage as below average and in need of work and ongoing maintenance.

  • "A very happy stay in your cosy cottage, and so convenient for all the delicious choice of food along the High St."

Weather was perfect for walking our dogs along the beaches and marshes and we believe we spotted a white-tailed eagle!

  • "A pretty cottage with a good sized lounge."

The shower is listed as over the bath. Not a problem I thought, but you cannot run any otter water at the same time, including flushing the loo! Fine for a couple but with teenagers more of a problem. We would consider rebooking as the rooms are large

  • "We had a lovely time."

The added extras (sponges, cleaning products, dishwashing tablets, handwash, tea, coffee etc) were really appreciated as at most places we have stayed we have had to buy or bring with us. Very comfy and clean house, plenty of room for the three of us. Our little girl liked the games we found in the cupboard. Great location! If we or anyone we know holiday at Aldeburgh we definitely recommend. Thank you :-)

  • "We felt very much ‘at home’ in this lovely house which felt very welcoming."

We found it perfectly clean and very well equipped. We would be disappointed to find it unavailable when we visit Aldebrough again.
