  • "Lovely clean house, perfect for a family break by the sea."

Only disappointments being no real welcome essentials, thanks for the bubbly but bread and milk would have been nice. Also just 3 small logs for the log burner seems very mean! Those things meant after a 6 hour drive on a Friday pm we had to go straight back out to stock up. Otherwise a fab stay.

  • "It’s our second time at Holly Lodge."

We love the space it offers and the configuration of the rooms is perfect. Very little to fault. It’s a big house and only thing that needs improving is the standard temperature the house is set to. We were unable to adjust it. It was quite cold whilst we were there and just added an extra layer. Other than that we would return in a heartbeat!

Hi there. Sorry you felt it wasn’t warm enough at Holly while you were there. There is no restriction on the heating & a simple twist of the Nest thermostat uplifts the temperature without having to do anything else. There are simple instructions on how to use the Nest in the house guide, where it also says that the temperature can be adjusted remotely so if you were struggling with doing it yourself a quick call to the housekeeper would have enabled her to raise the termp to whatever you wanted. But that aside we are pleased you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Holly Lodge."

Everything was absolutely perfect. We had plenty of space to park our two cars. It’s a very peaceful street and just a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Aldeburgh. We’d love to come back again. We didn’t have children with us but it looked great for families with the stairgate, toys and big garden with a play house.

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback - we’re delighted you had a great time! Property Owner

Although 5 double rooms parking is tight for 3 cars but can park on the road as no restrictions and always spaces. We managed to lock ourselves out totally our fault but the problem was soon resolved and would like to compliment the Sykes handler who dealt with call .

  • "We had a great stay at Holly Lodge."

It offered really good accommodation for our large multi generational family. The ground floor is a lovely, open area with somewhere for little ones to play whilst the adults can keep an eye on them. Gardens lovely too. Kitchen works well. The fridge is, frankly, too small for a group of 10. A second drinks fridge would be a real bonus. Nice china and good supply of glasses. Really appreciated being left dishwasher tablets and some washing machine sachets too. The en suite bathrooms are small, no where to put anything, but are functional. The main bathroom is huge but has a tiny shower! The housekeepers need to take a bit more care and to use a cobweb brush! It’s a lovely house and we had a great stay. Thank you!

Plenty of car parking spaces on the road outside and you could probably get four cars on the Holly Lodges drive. Our party of five couples had a lovely time.

We have a family holiday once a year, the youngest member being 30 & the oldest 79, Holly Lodge works so well for us with a downstairs bedroom & bathroom for my mother. 2 hip replacements don't make stairs easy. For anyone there on a Monday night, it is worth joining in the quiz at the Old Generator Station, just a £1 per person for a team of 6. We had steak from the butchers in the main street, a lovely cod loin from one of the fish stalls and a holiday by the sea wouldn't be complete without fish & chips.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback - we’re so pleased to hear that you had such a great time! Property Owner

  • "This is not a five star property as listed."

Multiple issues at the property. 1. Wet sofas and in poor condition 2. Dog hairs on cushions and bean bags 3. Cafetière not cleaned out and rusty lid 4. General areas of long term/ in ground dirt 5. Broken and chipped kitchen equipment 6. Loose toilet seat I contacted the housekeeper within 15 minutes of arrival at the property. She contacted me back after speaking to the owner. She said that no one else had complained and suggested we cover the wet sofas with blankets from the beds and also leave the heating on full all night. The wet sofa cushions did not dry out until the Saturday afternoon. This impacted our enjoyment of our weekend. We are a group of 7 ladies that like to sit round together (I always pick a property for a good communal areas with enough sofa room for us all) Neither the housekeeper or the owner contacted me during the weekend (or since) to check to see if we had resolved the issues. I contacted Best of Suffolk on return from the weekend. Sent them multiple photos and had numerous correspondence with them. I gave them ample opportunity to sort out some form of compensation for the issues we had and the impact on our weekend. I have drawn a blank. Absolutely no compensation offered whatsoever and not even a written apology. Best of Suffolk say there is nothing they can do about it. Needless to say, I will not be booking with them again and would not recommend them. I have booked numerous self catering properties over the last 20 years and this is the first ever time I’ve had cause to complain.

We do appreciate you taking the time to pass on your feedback. Holly Lodge is a much-loved property that consistently receives great feedback and delivers happy holidays to guests. The owner takes much pride in their property and as such have regular upholstery cleaning and that is why the cushions were turned up, the property is thoroughly cleaned on each changeover. We feel that for under £70 per person, per night for your stay the property in the heart of Aldeburgh with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms represents fantastic value. Best of Suffolk welcome thousands of happy guests to our properties each year and we are sorry to hear that you won’t be returning. Property Owner

  • "We had such a wonderful weekend in Holly Lodge Cottage."

It was lovely and homely and so tastefully decorated that we felt really comfortable as soon as we walked through the door. It was very cosy and warm with plenty of hot water. It was spotlessly clean throughout and the linen and towels were lovely. The kitchen was so well equipped and it was great to have sharp knives which is a rarity in hired accommodation. We did not have to purchase any extras like dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bin bags etc. - we just wish other owners were so thoughtful. The house is in a fantastic location, just minutes away from the high street and beach. We only have positive feedback for this property and would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending to friends. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

We appreciated the baby toys, stair gates and cots for our family party. (A fire guard might be a good idea.) The downstairs is spacious and very suitable for a family gathering. However we did feel it was a bit tight to provide only 3 or 4 logs for the fire. There was a very bare minimum of loo rolls and no toiletries other than hand soap ( empty in one bathroom). This is not what we have found to be the practice with other rentals and was just a bit disappointing.

Beautifully decorated and the garden was stunning - wish we could have spent more time there! Just one small minor bit of feedback - it would have been lovely to have had some coffee pods to use with the machine that was provided, but that's a really minor complaint! Everything else was fabulous and I'd definitely recommend. Thanks so much.

We were all very impressed as soon as we walked in the door. I have a very big family and this is the ideal property for a large gathering. This house is just lovely. Beautifully decorated, well maintained & spotlessly clean. The kitchen is fully equipped for everything & everyone. We had a full house Friday through Monday, with extra visitors for the day on Sunday. Even with 23 people (believe it or not, the whole family couldn't make it!) we never felt crowded, it's so spacious & well laid out. The games from the library provided so much fun & laughter and the TV wasn't turned on once! Staying at Holly Lodge was the cherry on the cake making this truly a birthday to remember.

Everything was spotless and well maintained. Our only gripe is the too small recycling bin. The outdoor bin was overflowing when we arrived and resulted in us taking recycling home with us. For a property sleeping up to 10 a larger bin is necessary .

Just two minor niggles: the suction pads on the black-out blind have lost most of their adhesive power; and the blinds in the downstairs bedroom, on the right hand side has you face the window, require maintenance.

more than we expected when we arrived. A lovely welcome gift, lots of information on the house and the local area, toys books and games for the children, a well stocked kitchen and a beautiful garden area. Which our dog enjoyed as much as we all did on the sunny days. The rooms were perfect for our group. Maybe just one comment would be to add curtains in the down stairs bedroom. Communication between Owners was brilliant when we needed something, We have already talked about returning and would recommend to friends.

Door handles at front of house need maintenance - door knobs falling off and doors hard to open. We parked 3 cars which required a lot of manoeuvres but is doable.

  • "We loved our stay at Holly Lodge."

A perfect house for a multi-generational family celebration. We appreciated all the space, and particularly having a bathroom for each bedroom (as we had the teenagers in tow!). The master bedroom suite was spectacular and even nicer (bigger) than in the photos. We could have done with a spare bin bag for the kitchen, and just a few extra plates to use for serving etc. We found just having 10 of each size was not quite enough when there were 10 of us staying. Also, we couldn’t really understand why there were two TVs in one room (we’d have made more use of the library room if the second TV was in there, for the kids to hang out). But these are really only minor niggles and we would definitely like to return another time.
