  • "We stayed at Nutmeg a few years ago and we were delighted to find the same quality of fittings and furnishings as we remember."

It is extremely comfortable, outstandingly well equipped and in a great location, a 10 minute walk into town, but that's no problem for us. It would be good if the row of sycamore trees at the back could be reduced in size, but since they are not in the owner's garden there is probably nothing that can be done. In May they were dropping catkins which made a mess of the car, but the heavy rain on the way home washed it off! Please pass on our thanks to the owner for having us in his fantastic house and we hope to visit again.

  • "Nutmeg is a lovely, well-equipped and maintained holiday home."

The rooms are tastefully decorated and the courtyard-style garden is very sheltered and attractively planted. The location is very good: a short walk from the town centre and an even shorter one from the beach. We would certainly be interested in returning here in the future. A couple of suggestions to enhance guests' experience: - provide a box with seat pads for the outside chairs, on the basis that guests would stow these when not in use; - highlight the fact that the parking space isn't very usable for periods of the year unless you are willing to allow your car to be coated with the sticky sap from the over-hanging maple trees.

  • "Our 2nd stay at Nutmeg."

Beautiful property, excellently and comprehensively equipped, including toiletries. The standard of cleanliness and presentation was outstanding. We found we needed to purchase bottled water for drinking/kettle as the kitchen tap water left a LOT of scum in drinks. On arrival, bedroom 3 was made up as a twin (we had NOT requested this) and it made access to the windows & curtains difficult. Beds were lovely & comfortable. We appreciated the welcome gifts too. We will be back!

A good sized lounge for the six of us and the kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Beds extremely comfortable - some of the best I've experienced in a holiday let. Superb location for walks towards Thorpeness and beyond, or into Aldeburgh town. We'll definitely be booking again.

  • "Stayed with a bunch of (oldish) girls!"

for a celebratory, long weekend. Wonderful property; everything you could possibly need. The location from town was a little misleading in the information; we expected a 5 mins walk but it was a good 20 mins along quite unlit roads in the evenings to walk into town. However, would thoroughly recommend.

Thank you for your review, we are delighted that you chose Nutmeg for your celebratory weekend. We take every effort in describing the property including a map showing the location of the house. Property Owner

This property was so successful because there was no arguments over the bedrooms as they all had there own bathroom and kingsize bed so a huge tick/star . Great location so easy to walk everywhere and parking was easy too for the extra cars as loads of free street parking in the main road . Good quality bedding, furnishing ,kitchen crockery and equipment .Would definitely recommend .

  • "We, a party of seven from 17 to 79 with a whippet, stayed in Nutmeg for one week for short family holiday."

We very lucky with the weather and we had a wonderful time. The property is beautifully maintained and equipped. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and none were better than this. We particularly liked the small but beautifully designed gardens And the well equipped kitchen. It is very obvious that the owners have put a great deal of thought into providing everything for comfortable holiday. I am happy to recommend this property to anybody thinking of a stay in Aldeburgh. The house is in a quiet street and is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the High Street with all its shops and restaurants. One of the charms of this little town is that its facilities are out of proportion to its small town charm. if you are here, bibliophile then I recommend the towns bookshops and the pastry ice cream and beer lovers among us were well served . It’s even closer to the beach which although shingle rather than sand was one of the highlights of our stay. It’s a longer but lovely shoreline walk, 30 or 40 minutes, to Thorpeness, which we also enjoyed. We didn’t really take advantage of the local attractions since we were there to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We were slightly out of season so the local theatre was not yet in production, which would’ve been nice, but altogether we had a fantastic time and I would recommend both Aldeburgh in general and Nutmeg in particular to anyone who Is looking for a relaxing family holiday.

Some small snags but discussed with owner who was very very helpful. The housekeeping ladies at halfway through our stay were a delight. Garden gorgeous - helped by 10 days of glorious weather. Great multigenerational holiday home - will definitely return in the future. Thank you to all involved in the upkeep and care taken of Nutmeg - one of the best staycations we have had - certainly the best in Suffolk.

But why the mean little Paris Goblets for wine? I find drinking out of nice glasses adds to the enjoyment, greatly. the bedrooms were fine, lovely bed-linen and delicious large fluffy bath towels (why do some for think a shower towel should be smaller than a bath ditto?I did feel that the garden was over-hyped. I had imagined a large space so Rory 7, could have cricket practise with his dad. But it is well laid out a pleasure for sitting in (weather not good enough for much of that ,alas). It was very homely and had everything you could wish for. The beds were so comfortable that we noted the make and may upgrade our own. The garden was all beautifully landscaped, but unfortunately it was too wet and cold to enjoy, but safe for the dogs and there was no mud to drag in. The house was lovely and warm too.
